The Indian Doctor (2010)
What a gem!
The Indian Doctor - Enjoyed the entire series on HULU and kept it on my Watchlist to view again and then, poof! It's only available now on Prime but only the first season. Huh? Why not make all three seasons available Amazon? Geez.
The Indian Doctor is very entertaining and enjoyable. The acting, the story lines, the scenery, the script - very well done. The characters were entertaining and well played. Bravo! Bring us more of this type of entertainment, please.
Blackbird (2019)
Ugh!
Blackbird - boring and so depressing. The performances by all are very good but the subject matter and screenplay are a downer. I only watched this because of Sam Neil - my mistake; what WAS I thinking?! Amazon has rated this movie four stars out of five. Hah! I don't think so. Avoid at all costs.
The Orville (2017)
The Orville - oh, boy, was this lame!
Searching for sci-fi entertainment, I came across The Orville on HULU. Because some fine, well-respected, and seasoned actors were involved coupled with the 8-star rating on IMDB, I found I couldn't be enticed to see any more than 30 minutes of the pilot. I'm thinking The Orville is geared toward children or tweens because this adult who is also a Trekkie, found the humor juvenile and unfunny. I don't understand why reviewers are comparing this to Star Trek as it doesn't resemble anything like it other than, well, it takes place in space. I won't be wasting any more of my time watching this drivel.
The Assistant (2019)
Boring and Lifeless Excuse for a Film
I skipped reading any reviews before watching this film so I would not be influenced by others. Stupid me. This film is so depressing, slow and just downright boring. For a college graduate (main character) seeking to be a film producer, she's very immature and inarticulate; meek and spineless in standing up for herself. Nothing of any consequence ever happens in this movie unless you enjoy watching someone in a dull office environment making copies at the copy machine, tidying up after people, washing dishes, making coffee, ... I can't believe I viewed this pathetic excuse for a film in its entirety.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Fun entertainment!
What a fun ride this was! I'm happy I didn't read any reviews of this film beforehand. Sometimes reading negative reviews can have an unnecessary impact on one's opinion- I wanted to formulate my own. This Sci-Fi has everything and it kept my interest from the start. Ignore the "poo-pooed" reviews and throw logic out the window because it's SCIENCE FICTION for Pete's sake. View it for what it is - sheer entertainment!
The Rookie (2018)
This show has made a turn for the worst.
Season 1 and 2 were entertaining, but Season 3 has become too preachy; the cast overacts and their dialogue is dismal. It seems to have become a soap opera and a bad one at that. I'm not interested any longer.
Misfits (2009)
Absolute garbage!
Yes, this abomination is being shown in America on HULU. I gave the first episode a good 15-20 minutes and was compelled to shut it off. Complete garbage - unlikable characters, atrocious dialogue - nothing redeemable here. Where did they get these "actors" from? How anyone could possibly give this a high rating must be at the bottom of the - no, I'm not gonna go there. Avoid this at all costs.
The People vs. George Lucas (2010)
Whiners
I thought this film would be interesting. Unfortunately, what I found after watching it for 40 painful minutes was nothing but a bunch of whining, ungracious "children" at which point, I couldn't bear to waste my precious time watching it further. If the original films were deteriorating, George Lucas had every right to use his artistic license to try and preserve his films. To the Star Wars fans who disagree - get over it and grow up. I for one, enjoy seeing the enhanced CGI versions.
River (2015)
Extremely slow and depressing.
I couldn't get through the first episode as it was so boring and definitely not enjoyable to watch. Main character's personality was lifeless and depressing. The relationship of the main character and the young blond was confusing at first and then just turned bizarre. I don't understand the higher ratings viewers are giving this but to each his own.
Silk (2011)
What a very entertaining BBC production ...
... and had me completely immersed in the characters until the last episode where the viewer is left hanging and wondering 'WT_?' Did the writers get tired and just give up? Very disappointing "non" ending.
Prime Suspect (1991)
Too slow and plodding for my taste.
Given the high review scores and the fact that Helen Mirren is a fine actor, is the reason I gave this series a try. Unfortunately, the pace was so glacial in the first episode I almost gave up but then the action seemed to pick up when the detectives followed the murder suspect to his hidden lair in the second episode. I thought, 'Great, things are picking up,' but, alas, we're back to a glacial pace once again for episode three. I gave this program three hours but gave up and went back to re-watch Whitechapel which is more my cup of tea. Maybe things picked up in later episodes but Prime Suspect just couldn't keep my interest.
