The Fall Guy (2024)
8/10
An Ode to Stuntmen
7 May 2024
"The Fall Guy" is much more than just an action movie; it's an exhilarating journey into the world of stuntmen, a category often overshadowed by the dazzling lights of Hollywood. This film, with its gripping plot and memorable characters, sheds new light on these unsung heroes, proving that they deserve to be celebrated with a dedicated category at the Oscars.

What makes "The Fall Guy" so extraordinary is its ability to blend moments of pure adrenaline with irresistible comedic moments. Spectacular stunts are interspersed with brilliant banter, creating a perfect balance of action and fun.

At the heart of the film is the extraordinary chemistry between Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, who turn every scene into an explosion of energy. Their performances are so convincing that you find yourself rooting for them, even in the most dangerous moments.

Despite a simple plot and a touch of surrealism, this movie manages to keep audiences glued to the screen thanks to its frenetic sequence of events and its irresistible atmosphere. It's a film that grabs your attention from start to finish, leaving you craving to relive every thrilling moment.

"The Fall Guy" is a hidden gem that deserves to be discovered. It's a cinematic experience that makes you laugh, cry, and hold your breath, all at the same time. So grab a blanket, pop some popcorn, and get ready for an unforgettable adventure. This is a film you can't afford to miss.

Civil War (2024)

A raw journey full of contrasts
18 April 2024
Immersed in a whirlwind of contrasts, this film shines for its vibrant discordance: the music boldly out of sync with moments of raw violence, carrying the audience through a whirlwind of emotions. From tranquil to explosive, moments of calm and tension follow one another, weaving a gripping narrative. Not just an epic of war and breathtaking imagery, but also a profound exploration of human relationships. The cast, flawless, captivates the viewer, but special applause goes to Cailee Spaeny, whose magnetism steals the show. Let's hope her talent shines even brighter in the cinematic firmament! Moments of suspense build up to dizzying heights. Approved!

The Flash (I) (2023)

Will DCU find its saving grace?"
16 June 2023
Amidst tepid expectations and mixed opinions I had heard, I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed this film. It was a fun experience! While not an incredible masterpiece, the two-and-a-half hours flew by, thanks to a simple yet effective storyline. Surprisingly, amidst the Marvel competition, they managed to carve their own path in the Multiverse narrative.

Reluctantly, I admit that Ezra Miller delivered a discreetly brilliant performance, and the chemistry between the two Barrys worked wonders. Kara's presence added an extra spark, but undoubtedly, Keaton's Batman stole the spotlight from everyone.

The best outcome of this film would be the return of Keaton as Bruce in a Batman Beyond adaptation. However, let's address the mammoth in the room, the CGI. It's an ENORMOUS problem! It's genuinely terrifying! The initial sequence showcasing Flash's first mission gave me nightmares, and Barry's suit with its flashy lights resembled Reynolds' Green Lantern costume, albeit with a bit more conviction.

Honestly, I have no idea where the Gunn universe will go from here. There's a single post-credit scene that was concealed from the press and early screenings, and unfortunately, it's horrendous! It might be the worst aspect of the entire film, and it would have been better if it hadn't been included!

All in all, it exceeded my expectations, but it falls short of being the savior of the DC universe.

Flamin' Hot (2023)

The Fiery Pursuit of Dreams and Determination
15 June 2023
"Flamin' Hot" is a decently good film with a motivational story that makes you understand how obsession can enable you to achieve anything. While it may be a bit monotonous at times, the movie remains entertaining and never becomes dull. Director Eva Longoria does a commendable job bringing the true story of Richard Montañez, the inspiration behind the popular snack Flamin' Hot Cheetos, to the screen. The lead actor's portrayal of Montañez is convincing, conveying the determination and ambition that propelled him to realize his dream. The narrative focuses on his rise from a humble laborer to creating a successful product. Moments of obstacles and self-doubt are handled realistically, adding a human dimension to the story. The soundtrack is well-chosen and contributes to creating the right atmosphere during key moments of the film. While "Flamin' Hot" is not flawless, it manages to inspire and motivate the viewer, delivering an important message about perseverance and the possibility of achieving one's goals. Overall, it is a cinematic experience worth having.

Goodbye Guardians!
7 June 2023
"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" is a fitting finale to a remarkable trilogy, showcasing the undeniable genius of director James Gunn. This film made me realize just how much Gunn will be missed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as the franchise has lost one of its most talented filmmakers. It's a perfect conclusion that had us laughing, crying, and experiencing a plethora of emotions.

Gunn's direction is nothing short of spectacular, bringing his unique vision to life with flair and creativity. The storytelling is fabulous, particularly in exploring the captivating backstory of the cinema's most famous raccoon. The film strikes a perfect balance between heartfelt moments and thrilling action, keeping audiences on the edge of their seats throughout.

The performances of the ensemble cast are outstanding, with each actor delivering their A-game. The chemistry and camaraderie between the Guardians are palpable, adding depth and authenticity to their relationships. The humor is spot-on, injecting levity into even the most intense moments.

As a fan, it's bittersweet to bid farewell to this beloved trilogy. "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" serves as a testament to Gunn's talent and his undeniable contribution to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's a testament to his exceptional storytelling and ability to create unforgettable characters.

Luca (2021)

Silenzio Bruno! Silenzio Bruno!
7 June 2023
"Luca" is a stunning masterpiece that effortlessly captures the essence of childhood wonder and the power of true friendship. As an Italian viewer, I couldn't help but fall in love with the film's numerous nods to my rich cultural heritage. This heartfelt story took me on an emotional rollercoaster, eliciting laughter, tears, and even moments of frustration, creating a truly immersive experience.

Directed by the talented Enrico Casarosa, "Luca" transports us to the picturesque coastal town of Portorosso, where the titular character, Luca, embarks on a transformative summer adventure with his new friend, Alberto. The duo's escapades, as they explore a secret underwater world while hiding their true identities as sea creatures, are nothing short of captivating.

Visually, "Luca" is a feast for the eyes. The vibrant colors, stunning landscapes, and meticulous attention to detail paint a vivid and enchanting portrait of the Italian Riviera. From the bustling streets to the mouth-watering cuisine, every frame exudes authenticity and invites viewers to immerse themselves in the world on screen.

The voice acting in "Luca" is impeccable, with talented actors bringing the characters to life with charm and depth. The friendship between Luca, Alberto, and the spirited Giulia is heartwarming and relatable, reminding us of the transformative power of genuine connections.

Beyond its surface-level charm, "Luca" also explores profound themes of acceptance, self-discovery, and the courage to defy societal expectations. The film beautifully captures the challenges and joys of growing up, resonating with audiences of all ages.

It's disheartening to see "Luca" being underrated in the realm of animated films. It deserves far more recognition for its heartfelt storytelling, stunning animation, and its ability to evoke a wide range of emotions. This film should hold a prominent place in the history of animated cinema.

In conclusion, "Luca" is a magical and deeply resonant film that combines stunning visuals, a heartfelt story, and a celebration of Italian culture. It will make you laugh, cry, and reflect on the power of friendship and self-discovery. Silenzio bruno may be a call to silence, but let it not be the case for the praise and recognition this exceptional film truly deserves.

A journey inside Marc/Steven's mind
27 April 2022
I sincerely loved this episode with all my heart. From the staging with the various transitions, references and citations from the Moon Knight comic.

A journey inside Marc / Steven which shows us in a painful way what our protagonist feels to have a dissociative disorder. Some moments are quite heavy and hurt also thanks to an always incredible Oscar Isaac. Very cool that despite the general opinion at the end of last episode, now you doubt that maybe nothing is real.

I'm just sorry that this is the last episode before the season finale.

Horror Indiana Jones vibes
20 April 2022
This show is full of twists and turns! An adventure episode that shows how much Layla is badass and adds new elements to Marc/Steven story. I look forward to see Jake Lockley, the last one.

I loved the horror scenes and the references to the Mummy and Indiana Jones (also with the soundtrack).

One word: amazing!

There's chaos in you
30 March 2022
What an amazing episode! I had my eyes stuck to the screen of my computer for its entire duration.

Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke are the best choice for their misterious but charming characters.

I look forward to the second episode next Wednesday.

The only fault i could find is the VFX during the chase scene: in my opinion, it was a bit unreal.

Where is Boba Fett????
28 January 2022
After this episode it's now clear that Boba Fett is not a strong character. This show demanded a "Mando" to get the best episode of all.

I really appreciate Bryce Dalla Howard as director. What a masterful work!

But... Where was Boba Fett?

Boba Fett is a great leader
5 January 2022
After a first episode not very interesting finally it's time to get serious! I was truly impressed by the surprising Boba Fett leadership. He helped and educated Tuskens and they retailed with the equipment watched in The Mandalorian. Now it is clear his story. Not to talk about Hutt Twins that gave me some good vibes!

On the technical side good but there is some inaccuracies (not a disaster).

I really hope that upcoming episodes will be like this, or perhaps better.

I give a big 9!

Nothing exceptional but it's just the beginning
29 December 2021
I found this first episode a bit undertone. I didn't appreciate a lot the Temuera Morrison's performance. So good from the technical standpoint. I must say that the last scene was crazy.

Honestly i had the lowest of expectations, but i had second thoughts, even if it's not mind-blowing.

We shall watch the next episode and hope.

Melancholy and great speeches.
15 December 2021
After watching previous episodes this was a bit undertone, but doesn't mean that was bad. They try to plug plot holes and explore some characters better than before. It was very focused on Natasha, and i like it. I really appreciate Florence Pugh as actress and she deserves every success.

Less action but words make you thinking a lot.

Great revelation at the end.

The best couple!
1 December 2021
This is one of the best episodes of all MCU series. Kate and Clint are on the same wavelength and they are perfect together, both on their relationship and during the fighting. The care scenes was breathtaking!

If the show goes on like that, we may have a little fun!

You can't say it is a terrifying series!!
23 April 2021
This series can prove that Marvel is become bigger and has created a nice and entertaining product. Despite this it was, sometimes, a bit predictable, obvious and in my opinion forcefully political.
