Invitation to a Murder (2023)
It had potential
Wooden acting, bad accents and very thin script made this movie more of a grudge watch than the good mystery thriller that I had anticipated. Mischa Barton tries but just came across as unlikeable as the lead character. Bored florist with an interest in Agatha Christie novels and a eye for detail that apparently escapes everyone else, gets invited to a mysterious weekend ina private island via a hand delivered wax embossed letter from Lord Findlay. She spins finds herself on a train en route to said island along with 5 others with the same invitation. She quickly discern that one of the six doesn't belong and the clumsy plot is off and running.
Don't expect much from this movie. It's just okay. You won't finish and wish there was another installment with the detective protagonist at the helm. None of the characters are memorable and the conclusion less so.
The Beast Must Die (2021)
Beautifully shot. That's about it
If you want to watch this (and I would discourage you not to), know that you'll get to the end and be angry at yourself for this port investment of time. This series is like the Winchester House of TV series. Stairs ( in this case, storylines and backstories) that lead to absolutely nowhere. The characters are all unlikable. Even the protagonist is so annoying that you kind of root for something to happen to her. And the teenage son character has a voice that will make you uncomfortable to listen to.
In the end, there's really not a lot of resolution and you'll wonder how they made 6 episodes and still couldn't wrap it up.
Perry Mason (2020)
Beautifully shot. Unnecessary reimagining of Della Street as a lesbian
I guess you have to tick all the boxes when you make a series these days and they ticked off the lesbian character box by reimagining Della Street as a lesbian. Very woke.
Other than that, the show is well written and beautifully shot.
Dead to Me (2019)
Season 1 great. Season 2 not as good
Season 1 was amazing. It was gripping and the character development was perfect. I couldn't wait for the second season to hurry up and get here.
Season 2 picks up right where we left off. There's a new lesbian love interest for Judy which seems contrived and unnecessary to the story.
Jen and Judy flub their way thru their coverup scheme, and where Jen was the smart one last season, she's a dingy mess.
Home Before Dark (2020)
I gave it 3 episodes and called it a day
Good premise but the little girl is so annoying. Good show for kids or tweens who don't know better.
Last Man Standing (2011)
Get rid of Jen
I love this show but the addition of Jen is just a drag on every scene she's in. The horribly put on accent that she uses is just annoying and her acting is straight up bad. Please find a way to transition her out.
Helltown (2017)
The first 10 or 15 minutes were good
The conspiracy theory investigative reporter is just terrible. This is a mockumentary that has some decent parts but the guy that does the investigation is like Corey Feldman"s less talented brother. You can find something better to do for 2 hours. I finished watching this abortion so you don't have to. You're welcome.
