Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022)
Totally overrated
I don't care what others think. But to me it came of as cliche and predictable. Some of the characters like that pandit panditayin and chota pandit engaged in the most cringey slapstick comedy with the worst possible timing. The only good thing was Tabu(i never knew she could look so beautiful) and yes Karthik did good. But the story, comedy, climax everything was downright boring and at times painfully embarrassing. Bollywood has come a long way of such loud and melodramatic acting so in my eyes it was quite painful to watch actually.
Habit (2021)
Still trying to find logic in this movie
I have only one question, who was Paris Jackson in this movie? The main character's mom? The female Jesus or the nurse? How can one person play 3 characters? I could go on and on about how pointless and utterly logic less this movie was but that would be a thesis so I just have this one single question which I hope will make people realise what a disaster this movie was.
American Horror Stories (2021)
It could have been better, but it's not THAT bad
Spin-offs of original series or movies are rarely good, so given that I'd say this did much better than expected. I'll first point out the bad part. The plotline was too predictable, cliche and boring on quite a few parts. So much erotic scenes were unnecessary, it's supposed to be a horror story not 50 shades of grey. To all those people blaming on nepotism, I've got to say one thing, WAKE UP! Majority of stars in Hollywood are self made and just a few are celeb kids. So they would not get any chance? Is it their fault that their parents are famous? I think Kaia did a fabulous job and Paris Jackson was deliciously wonderful as the "mean girl". If you think they're cringey, go back and watch it again.... it's the plot that's cringey. Unlike most celeb kids these two actually have talent. Had they gotten a better script you could have seen them in their best. They still did pretty amazing. Instead of blaming them blame the lousy plotline for heaven's sake. And yes, Paris Jackson is hot! Bring her back for more.
The Space Between (2021)
A stellar cast getting being completely unused.
This movie really started out good and then fell completely flat midway. The thing is they had good character, good story line, story costumes and everything yet they couldn't utilise it at all. Kesley Grammar's acting was phenomenal and so was Jackson White's but the plot became so slow and jarring that it was painful to watch at times. The character of Cory had so much potential as a struggling singer of a struggling band yet her character gets dropped off the plot in the lamest way possible. I mean you get Michael Jackson's daughter for that role knowing that people would be intrigued but now it seems the directors only used her for clickbait. Such a waste of an excellent cast. At the end it felt like they were really forcing us to feel the emotions and cry but by that time you're probably like "yea we know how this ends just get on with it quickly" The 3 stars is only for the good 30 min at the beginning.
Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl (2020)
Give it 1 star
At first I was feeling guilty thinking maybe I'm being irrational by giving it 1 star. Then I watched the trailer, I don't feel guilty anymore. My poop can act better than Jhanvi.
Bulbbul (2020)
What it lacks in the storyline is made up by the stunning visuals and acting.
The plot if story itself is nothing new. Those who have read works of Tagore will find it's very much influenced by his life and his works. It was way too predictable. However the lackluster storyline is made up by the stunning visuals and outstanding acting. Although the scarlet red night shots were too overdone in my opinion. A regular color palate would have added subtlety. This is my first introduction to Tripti Dimri and I must say I was floored by her performance. Extremely well done. Paoli Dam did an amazing job as the victimized Binodini. It's not easy to play strong character but not easy to play victimized and defeated character as well. Binodini is actually manifestation of oppressive patriarchy. Parambrata, I mean when is he not excellent? His subtle acting was such a breath of fresh air in this gothic folklore. The last part were she really appears as the witch could have been done better in my opinion, it was too cliche. Overall a fairly good experience.
Saaho (2019)
Doomed movie
The movie was doomed to be a flop since it launched it trailers and extremely cliche item songs(seriously? Bad boy?!!) hence it doesn't comes off as a surprise that the audience were highly dissapointed. But it's the director who is supposed to be blamed because he is in charge of the script, knows the actors and their talents he is working with. It was a masaccare of talent and plot. Prabhas, I hope you understand that the Northern audience are an extremely tough cookie because they don't go with names anymore. Look at the Khans, all their movies have flopped in the last 6 years even Thugs of Hindustan with it's stellar cast couldn't save the grace. It's the content that matters: Baadhai Ho, Andhadhun are the greatest examples of that. Select the next movie carefully and try to avoid trash directors.
The Lion King (2019)
Outstanding but not perfect.
For the one's who've grown with the original and also for the one's who are watching this version the first time it's an outstanding movie. It was faithful to the original yet added small new elements here and there. The movie would have been perfect if they brought back Jeremy Irons as Scar as the new voice actor just couldn't do anything remarkable. Scar became dark and boring 😴. The very esscene of the humorous sarcastic Scar was lost. Beyonce's spirit song was completely unnecessary and did not at all fit with the mood of the movie. Rafiki was not as eccentric anymore. Other than that the movie was great. Of course the visuals were just out of the world! Mufasa's death scene, the pivotal point of the movie was extremely well executed. It had the same impact as the original. I like how they changed the hyenas characters to fit with the real relation between lions and hyenas in the Savannah. Hands down the best Live action adaptation so far.
