Better Call Saul: Something Unforgivable (2020)
An excellent season finale and sets up season 6 beautifully.
We have Nacho and Lalo alive, Gus thinks Lalo is dead, Kim has finally broken bad, her and Saul are going after Howard for the settlement money. Just hope we don't have to wait 2+ years to see it!
Better Call Saul: Magic Man (2020)
Great, as expected.
Saul is on the rise, and things start to heat up with Gus and the cartel. Lalo is shaping up to be a great villain this season.
Battle at Big Rock (2019)
Worth a watch for any JP fan
It's a fun short. Certain bits of dialogue such as "we've been a family for 2 years now" - another case where Trevorrow needs to show, not tell. And the fact that (spoiler!) the little kid saves the day by shooting the Allo with the crossbow..? Come on now.
Little things like that detracted from my rating, but at the end of the day, it's decent.
The Grinch (2018)
Might be ok for kids, snoozefest for adults, and insulting to the original (and Jim Carrey) Grinch.
Title says it all. The grinch is not scary at all, nor does he embody what the grinch is supposed to be. Instead of an evil, Christmas hating outcast, he comes off as a harmless, mischievous, annoying little b****. Horrible choice casting Cumberbatch.
If you want to show your kids the grinch, show them the Jim Carrey version.
If you're looking for nostalgia as an adult, this ain't it chief.
Riverdale (2017)
Watch at your own risk, I guess.
The fact that these are supposed to be high school students is laughable at best. The show took characters from the Archie comics, and completely re-wrote them as hyper-intelligent 25 year old high school super sleuths. The dialogue is bad, and I have not yet made it through an episode without cringing, laughing at the sheer ridiculousness of the characters, or both.
That being said, I binged the first 5 episodes in a night. Something kept me watching. The story leaves a lot to be desired, but is clever enough and isn't too predictable.
I have not yet made it to season 2 and 3, which people say are god awful, and I'm inclined to believe it. But so far, season 1 makes a 5/10, which I would consider "worth watching".
Trailer Park Boys: The Animated Series (2019)
A new take on the classic series
Towards the end of the series, the live action Trailer Park Boys was beginning to lose some of its older season magic. With John Dunsworth gone, the idea to animate the series has probably saved the franchise.
Being animated, it allows them to explore story lines that would have otherwise been impossible, and really expands the show's horizons in that sense. I laughed more at the first episode of this series than I did in the whole of season 12.
If you're on the fence about it as I was before watching, give it a chance. You'll be pleasantly surprised.
