What if?
Now I have to admit, when I first saw the trailer for this movie, I couldn't believe how corny the story sounded. I remember thinking, "Oh how is that possible?". But then, I was roaming around Blockbuster again and noticed it was out of DVD. I said, What the hell? I'll give it a chance. My results: I LOVED IT! What an excellent movie. Although the phenomenon was not explained, it didn't have to be. The movie was made for thought and suspense. And that is what it delivers. (9 out of 10)
Recoil (1998)
I'm sorry but.....
This is one of the worst movies EVER! I can't explain clearly how bad this movie is! I know I said to myself that I would never write a comment on a bad movie, but people should know NOT to see this movie. If it is ever on STARz, or Showtime(which isn't a big surprise why it's on Showtime), trust me. DON'T WATCH IT! Unless you want to see guns going off without discharges flying out, bad acting, stunt doubles of a different color then the main star, or just how cool Gary Daniels is. Uh-hem, sorry I have a cold. Anyway, this movie would be better if there were some type of recoils from the guns. Sorry bad action lovers!(0 out 10 stars)
Renegade Force (1998)
So Real, So SWAT!
I never heard about this movie before, but I was traveling through Blockbuster trying to find something I have not seen before when I came across the cover of Rouge Force. I have to admit the cover does make the movie look like one of your average t.v. movies. And the stars Robert Patrick, and Michael Rooker don't help. Besides that I rented it. I loved it! I love all the SWAT action in it, and Michael Rooker and Robert Patrick were great! What a great movie. I highly recommend this movie if you like serious SWAT action. It's got a ton of it!(7 out of 10 stars)
The Rock (1996)
Rock House Jail!
The Rock is the best jerry bruckheimer action thriller ever made. The action never stops in this movie. And the thing that I love most about the movie is that with ever bullet that comes out of a gun in this movie, there is always the sweet sound of "The Rock" theme playing. The score is very powerful and lives up to the movie. I enjoyed this movie very much and would recommend it to anyone who really loves action.(9 out 10 stars)
Heat (1995)
Two Words: "The Best"
H E A T is one of the greatest movies ever made. You put two excellent actors together to face off in a movie with well direction from a very good director, and you get this movie. I swear that the three hours go by so quick ever time you watch it. Quoting from my good friend, Jerry, "This movie cannot be explained as one genre. It has everything in it. Action, drama, suspense, romance, comedy, you name it." What he means really is that this movie is one of a kind. I do not think any movie today can compare to how great this one is. All the acting is terrific, especially Al Pacino and Robert De Niro. Michael Mann took down this score that made it in my top 5.(10 out of 10 stars)
Reservoir Dogs (1992)
Tarantino's first is a hit.
Quentin Tarantino has become one of the greatest directors ever to say "action!". This movie is just so good. In my personal opinion Reservoir Dogs is the best out of Tarantino's movies. It just has a great plot from a well written script, great characters, even the guns are great. I really love this movie and am glad that Tarantino dropped his job as a video store clerk to go become a great director. Thanks, man for making this good movie!(8 out of 10)
Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000)
Is Rated PG-13...but it is awesome!!
I was at home, getting ready to watch The 13th Warrior, when I first saw the Gone in Sixty Seconds Trailer. I got so excited seeing that Jerry Bruckheimer was producing, and Trevor Rabin was doing the movie's score. It was great but then at the end it said PG-13. I had a thing against PG-13 movies but now I don't thanks to this movie. I first thought that PG-13's were corny because they weren't allowed to curse or show a lot of blood. I also thought they would be boring. I was wrong. Gone in Sixty Seconds has all the good action a car chase lover would ask for. I'm glad I didn't go by the rating. In all, the movie's car chases are great, and I loved the score for the movie. So trust me, go see it if you want a good ride. (9 out of 10 stars)
Shaft (2000)
Samuel L. Jackson IS the man.
I really enjoyed this movie. Truthfully, I only really went to see this movie for two reasons. 1: I like Samuel L. Jackson a lot, and 2: I like David Arnold the movie's score composer. I have never seen the old "Shaft" before, but I don't want to draw any comparisons because I thought Samuel L. Jackson did an excellent job as Shaft's cousin. (And I'm glad they put Richard Roundtree in the new one.) This movie has a lot of style. For example, inside of Shaft just handing in his badge for quitting, he throws it into a wall behind the judge at the courtroom scene. I liked that a lot. The action is very good, and I love the new "Shaft" theme done by Issac Hayes. David Arnold's music really goes good with the movie as well. All in all, it's a fun movie to go see. I highly recommend it. (7 out of 10 stars)
Saving Private Ryan (1998)
This is the greatest war movie ever made!
I can't express how much I love this movie!!! Everything about this movie is good, the acting, the action, the plot, everything! The part of this movie that I love the most is the drama. This movie is so powerful I swear every time I watch it, it gets better and better. This movie should have won best picture. I recommend it with great honor. (10 out of 10 stars!)
Mission: Impossible II (2000)
This mission was accomplished
I loved this movie! John Woo has become one of the greatest action movie director's in America. When I first found out that John Woo was directing a sequel to the first Mission Impossible, (which I hated by the way), I knew that he would blow out the first one from it's spot in the old box office. And I was right. John Woo keep making those good and stylish movies! (9 out of 10 stars)
Hard Target (1993)
Although not Woo's best, it delivers.
John Woo brings audiences the excitement of being hunted in this thrilling action movie, "Hard Target". "Hard Target" stars Jean-Claude Van Damme plays a merchant sailer named Chance Boudreaux who comes across Natasha Binder, played by Yancy Butler. Natasha is in search of her missing father, who has been hunted down by the sadistic mercenary Emil Fouchon, played by Lance Henrikson. Together, once Emil is on to them, Chance and Natasha become the hunted. John Woo directs in what many people might call a "bad acting" movie, but if you put away the acting, and watch the sweet slow-motion scenes and Woo's doves, you'll be entertained for a hour and thirty-seven minutes.
