Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006)
another bad Will Ferrell movie, still waiting for a good one
This movie was so bad, that it makes Stroker Ace look good, and I really thought Stroker Ace was one of the poorest racing movies to date, but this movie proved me wrong. We try to be fair and watch his movies, but they are truly lousy. I can't see what people see in this movie, or Blades of Glory, or any of his movies. He was barely watchable in Bewitched, and that's about it. Hopefully, he'll take acting lessons and perhaps try to become better. This movie just tries to extend parts which aren't funny, and it's truly a waste of money. I'm glad we were able to get it through my 3 free months on Showtime rather than wasting good money at the theater.
Four Brothers (2005)
Remakes of old ideas, but with a modern touch.
Excellent movie, brought to life in today's modern times. However, I couldn't help but think how close this is to the John Wayne old western, Sons of Katie Elder. The four sons come back after their mother's death, to find out that their father was murdered. They seek the truth and get revenge. One of them is killed, but they still get their revenge. Still a great movie, just redone and refashioned after 40 years. Four brothers is well written, and keeps you watching every second. You truly feel for the boys and their mother's death keeps you in suspense. Mark Wahlberg does a great job of playing the tough guy, but still is able to lead his brothers and show intelligent planning and cunning to do the job. I recommend this to teens and above, language and violence is a bit tough for younger kids.
Star Trek: First Contact (1996)
One of the best in the series
Truly one of the best of the series of movies. Frakes does a wonderful job directing, and all of the regular characters do a great job in supporting their roles. James Cromwell comes across extremely well, especially with the attitude that he is just a man trying to get rich. He adds a funny touch from blasting his music to getting Deanna drunk. The Borg was always such a scary and how do we beat these guys enemy. Alice performs a superb acting job and I rank this up there with # 2, 4 and 6.
Something Wild (1986)
A true type of roller-coaster movie from beginning to end.
This movie really keeps you going without knowing what's coming around the corner. Jeff Daniels and Melanie Griffith were terrific together and Ray Liotta added a great dark side to the comedy of Daniels and Griffith. What looked like a strange love story turned into the strangest ending which kept my interest right to the end. Great movie which showed Daniels and Griffith are good actors. Have seen this movie at least 15 times and still love it!!!!
