Sid Comes Out is oddly old fashioned in its subject matter in this day and age - a very openly gay man (at least to his ex-wife, everyone at the retirement home, and apparently an entire dating website) coming out to his son is pretty well trodden material. But this episode doesn't really care about how well we know the basic plot line (i.e., unabashedly predictable) and instead relishes in the joy that comedic interplay between Leslie Jordan and Vicki Lawrence bring to the screen. They are terrific together. Add in the delightful, and still sexy after all these years, Max Gail (side note: his current performances as a man stricken with Alzheimer's on General Hospital are nothing less than brilliant) and this episode is silly, over the top, and laugh out loud fun to watch. Just enjoy the lunacy.
