Stars: Joe Wilkinson, Laura Aikman, Jane Asher | Written and Directed by Warren Fischer
I always like to give British comedy a go because, in amongst plenty of poor shows and films has been a whole lot of great stuff. British comedy often feels a little bit different from many other countries, so with A Family Affair and debut writer and director Warren Fischer, I was hoping for the new British comedy director to take the World by storm. The story goes like this:
“A cash-strapped hotel manager (Joe Wilkinson) is forced to stave off interest from wealthy buyers at a public auction whilst hosting his in-laws on their wedding anniversary.”
I was also glad to see Joe Wilkinson on the cast list, and he does indeed play one of the main roles as Edward. After previously enjoying his work on Him and Her, and Ricky Gervais’ Derek and After Life,...

Nothing much has changed in Leonardo DiCaprio’s dating preferences since breaking out in the ’90s. While lauded as one of the best actors of our time, for years, the Oscar winner has been a part of a running joke of being incapable of dating anyone above the age of 25. Although it’s entirely possible that this might be a coincidence, it’s hard to ignore the pattern.
But fans aren’t alone when it comes to making memes and jokes about the actor’s alleged dating pattern, as acclaimed singer and actor Sabrina Carpenter too joins the meme train.

Focus Features has acquired worldwide rights to Carey Mulligan comedy “The Ballad of Wallis Island,” Variety can confirm exclusively.
They will release the film in the U.S. while Universal Pictures International is handling global distribution.
The film, which was previously titled “One For The Money,” is directed by James Griffiths (“Cuban Fury”) and produced by Steve Coogan’s Baby Cow productions (“Philomena”).
The screenplay was written by Tom Basden (“After Life”) and Tim Key (“Great Expectations”), who also star in the film alongside Sian Clifford (“Fleabag”) and Akemnji Ndifornyen (“Famalam”).
“The Ballad of Wallis Island” tells the story of Charles (played by Key), an eccentric lottery winner who tries to reunite his favorite musical duo Mortimer-McGwyer (Mulligan and Basden) despite the fact they split up many years ago. Making things even more awkward, the musicians – Nell Mortimer and Herb McGwyer — were also once romantically involved with each other a la Sonny and Cher.

‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ Propels Franchise Past $1B As Sequel Opens To $45M+ – Sunday Am Update
Sunday Am: No snowstorm or sour reviews stood in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire‘s path this weekend, as the Gil Kenan-directed, Jason Reitman-produced sequel minted a $45.2M opening after a nice spike on Saturday from families.
Yesterday came in at $16.8M, 5% ahead of Friday/previews’ $16M. If the numbers hold up, that’s the second-best start ever for a Ghostbusters’ movie after the 2016 female ensemble of Kirsten Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.
The domestic opening of the fifth movie takes the entire Ghostbusters franchise, per Sony, past $1 billion. I understand studio reports had the franchise through four films at $985M, a result that’s higher than Box Office Mojo. Mojo’s numbers on overseas are off on the first 1984 film.
Foreign for Frozen Empire was $16.4M from 7,500+ screens in 25 markets, bringing the global start here to $61.6M on the $100M production.
The opening is solid news,...

Gil Kenan was able to share the 'Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire' story with the original movie's director Ivan Reitman before his death. The 47-year-old filmmaker has helmed the latest picture in the supernatural franchise and admits that the approval of the late director – who passed away aged 75 in 2022 – kept the crew going through the writing process.Gil told The Hollywood Reporter: "We pitched an almost complete version of this film's story outline to Ivan before his passing, and that was really meaningful."Obviously, we didn't know that he wouldn't be with us for the film, but his validation of the pitch and his joy at hearing it was something that kept us going through the writing."Ivan's son Jason Reitman – who had been behind the camera on the 2021 flick 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife' - decided not to direct 'Frozen Empire' and Kenan was "honoured" to be given the...

Before Carrie Coon busted ghosts with a proton pack in the Ghostbusters franchise, she battled the ghostly figures of the Guilty Remnant with a garden hose on The Leftovers. Of course, both projects are wildly different in genre and tone, but they’re two of several examples where Coon has added a welcome complexity to mother characters that is not as common as it should be. In Gil Kenan’s Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Coon picks up right where she left off in Jason Reitman’s 2021 franchise revival, Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Her Callie Spengler character, along with boyfriend Gary Grooberson (Paul Rudd) and her two teenage children, Phoebe (Mckenna Grace) and Trevor (Finn Wolfhard), are now full-fledged Ghostbusters, operating out of the famous firehouse in New York City.
“Callie feels like a very real mom who’s maybe not always great at the job, and makes mistakes and has to make repairs.

Actor Andrew Buchan makes his screenwriting debut with ITV thriller Passenger, and here’s the trailer.
Andrew Buchan is probably best known for playing grieving father Mark Latimer in Chris Chibnall’s whodunnit Broadchurch. He has also played the title role in drama The Fixer, as well as parts in films like Nowhere Boy, All The Money In The World and The Mercy.
He now makes his screenwriting debut with ITV thriller Passenger.
The synopsis reads as follows:
Riya (Loki star Wunmi Mosaku) arrived in the quiet town of Chadder Vale five years ago and has since been searching for something, anything that will make her feel alive again. Then one night local girl Katie Wells (Rowan Robinson) mysteriously disappears. The town barely has time to register her absence before she reappears the next day, apparently safe and sound. The townsfolk ask few questions and normal life resumes. But for Riya,...

Ewen MacIntosh, the Welsh actor and comedian best known for his role as Keith Bishop from the accounting office in the British version of The Office, has died at the age of 50.
The cause of death was not immediately known.
“The very funny and very lovely Ewen Macintosh, known to many as ‘Big Keith’ from The Office, has passed away,” show creator Ricky Gervais wrote on X. “An absolute original. Rip.”
The actor played accountant Keith Bishop in The Office and later reunited with Gervais on Netflix series After Life. MacIntosh also had roles in such U.K. comedies as Miranda and Little Britain.
His deadpan performances in The Office quickly made MacIntosh’s Keith an audience favorite. In one popular scene with Martin Freeman, the accountant takes a large bite out of a Scotch egg while his opposite talks about performing a sexual act on himself.
MacIntosh also appeared in movies.

While speaking with SFX Magazine, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire director Gil Kenan promised that the original Ghostbusters cast will feel “more fully fleshed out” in the Frozen Empire. “That’s the moment that’s really thrilling for me as a Ghostbusters fan: watching their involvement in the story redefine itself, grow and become more fully fleshed out in a way that speaks to the promise of the original Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2, and what was glimpsed in the fields outside of Summerville in Afterlife,” Kenan explained. “There’s a direct line from there into who they are now and how they act here in our new story.“

Minutes after the first trailer for his superhero pic Deadpool & Wolverine dropped during the Super Bowl, Ryan Reynolds tweeted about popcorn, of all things. “Wait til you see the Deadpool popcorn bucket,” he wrote. An eternal jester, he no doubt was responding to the social media frenzy over a new Dune in-theater sandworm popcorn container that’s being riffed for looking like a sex toy (it even was the subject of a Saturday Night Live skit).
But Reynolds also sees dollar signs for struggling theater owners. With little fanfare, elaborate popcorn containers — known as “vessels” in industry speak — have become a lucrative side business for cinemas, third-party vendors and Hollywood studios, the latter of which receives licensing fees.
Sandworms apparently have an appetite for popcorn, judging by the vessel ($24.99 from AMC) that caused a spicy social media response and is supporting both the current reissue of Dune (2021) and the sequel’s March 1 release.

Who'd have thunk a movie about a bunch of slobby ghost-hunting scientists would birth a franchise that's still going strong 40 years later? Call it fate, call it luck, call it karma (and call it more than a little Generation X nostalgia), "Ghostbusters" has endured all sorts of ups and downs on its unlikely journey to reaching middle age. Now, the stars of the late Ivan Reitman's original 1984 paranormal comedy (save for the late Harold Ramis) are coming back for a chapter that will see the old guard don their proton packs alongside a new generation of quipping, ghost-catching heroes.
"Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" is the direct followup to 2021's "Ghostbusters: Afterlife," itself a legacy sequel that introduced Egon Spengler's (Ramis) grown-daughter and grandkids as the heirs apparent to the family business. Contrary to its name, "Frozen Empire" will be hitting theaters just as things start to thaw out and winter gives way to spring,...

“Where are you from? Originally?” The question Peter Venkman asks in Ghostbusters has become relevant again.
We already knew that the fifth film in the series, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, would see the return of not only the three living original Ghostbusters but also Annie Potts’s Janine as a full-fledged member of the team. But while previous reports from director Gil Kenan, who co-wrote Ghostbusters: Afterlife with that film’s director and Frozen Empire co-writer Jason Reitman, insisted that the previous film shut the door on Ivo Shandor, Gozer, and Zuul, the latest trailer for Frozen Empire shows that not every old antagonist is in the past.
The trailer opens with narrator describing a longstanding feud with the Ghostbusters, indicating a long standing grudge. “They have a minor hanging out of a moving vehicle,” the voice intones with incredulity. “Firing a laser gun.”

Paul Rudd, McKenna Grace and Finn Wolfhard reunite with the original Ghostbusting crew to help put a stop to “a second ice age”. Evidently, they weren’t big fans of the 2002 animated film.

If there’s something strange in your neighborhood, who you gonna call? Bill Murray, who suits back up as Peter Venkman in “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” out March 22.
Murray isn’t the only franchise favorite to return for the chilly sequel, which sees the Big Apple covered in ice after an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force. His fellow original Ghostbusters — Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts — are back for “Frozen Empire,” and so is Slimer, aka “The Mean Green Ghost,” who returns with a vengeance.
According to the sequel’s logline, “Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.” The movie, which follows up 2021’s “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” also stars Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, Celeste O’Connor and Logan Kim.

It seems that being afraid of no ghosts can literally save your life in the fifth and latest entry in the Ghostbusters franchise, “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.” The movie is a direct sequel to 2021’s “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” which very famously handed the series “back to the fans,” and is helmed by Gil Kenan, co-writer of ‘Afterlife’ and director of “Monster House,” with a script from Kenan and Jason Reitman.

The gang is back together in the first trailer for “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” the second film in the new “Ghostbusters” franchise Jason Reitman helped resurrect but the fifth film since the unlikely franchise started in 1984.

Here’s the official plot summary, courtesy of Sony:
In “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. If you've been experiencing some chilly weather lately, it might be because "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" is on the way! Or it might be because it's winter. Either way, a new trailer for "Frozen Empire" has just blown in on an icy breeze.
The sequel to 2021's "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" moves the action back from rural Oklahoma to the franchise's original home of New York City. "'Afterlife' was about taking [the franchise] out of New York to shake off the rust," said Jason Reitman, director of "Afterlife" and co-writer of "Frozen Empire," explained in an interview with Empire magazine earlier this year. "It was a passing-the-torch movie -- it was about setting this world up again and establishing our new characters." He teased that "Frozen Empire" opens with the new generation of Ghostbusters speeding around Manhattan in the Ecto-1, "chasing the biggest ghost we've ever seen in 'Ghostbusters.'"

"The Walking Dead" is the cable franchise that just won't die. The saga that began in 2010 (or 2003 if you count the comic books that spawned it) has so far led to not one or two but six different spin-offs set within the same universe, a number that would be jaw-dropping even if AMC wasn't one of many media companies signing off on large-scale layoffs in recent years. At any rate, the latest spin-off is by far the most narratively promising, as it's set to answer burning questions fans (even those who quit watching ages ago) have about the show's most-loved couple.
That's right, folks: "The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live" is finally going to tell us whether or not Richonne is endgame. The couple comprised of original series protagonist Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his super capable second-in-command turned bestie turned lover Michonne (Danai Gurira) got separated way back...

I am not a “spiritual person.” I only believe in God during bumpy flights and New York Rangers playoff games, I only go to temple to make my mother happy, and I only believe in life after death because the movies — photographs and video of any kind, really — allow us to summon our most beloved ghosts at will. In that light, it should come as no surprise that I’ve never placed much faith in the work of psychics or seers, even though New York seems to have two storefront fortune tellers for every Starbucks. And yet, I suppose it should also come as no surprise that only a movie could have the power to convince me otherwise, or at least to make me better appreciate the nature of what psychics do and the mutual need they share with the people who turn to them for peace of mind.

"Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" is bringing back our favorite paranormal exterminators for another round of busting spooks, specters, and ghosts. The events of "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" in the small town of Summerville, Oklahoma saw a resurgence of original "Ghostbusters" villain Gozer the Gozerian thwarted by the estranged family of Egon Spengler, a curious teacher and seismologist named Gary Grooberson (Paul Rudd), and the original Ghostbusters team. They saved the day, but what now?
Well, it appears Winston Zeddemore (Hudson) has been using his corporate wealth to fund a new research facility for the Ghostbusters. The Spengler family has returned to New York City, joined by Grooberson and teenage friend Lucky (Celeste O'Connor), but what should be a fun summer turns into an icy nightmare when a paranormal threat called Garraka brings a "Death Chill" to the city and threatens humanity all over again. The original Ghostbusters are back in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, and the brand new issue of Empire Magazine reveals an awesome new shot of the crew reunited once more.
Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson), and Janine Melnitz (Annie Potts) are all back in the brand new Ghostbusters movie, and one of the two collectible covers from Empire – which glow in the dark, by the way – features all four iconic legacy characters suited up and doing what they do best – bustin’ ghosts!
Of particular note, Janine takes center stage in the official promo shot, suggesting that Annie Potts will be playing a much more active role in Frozen Empire than she did in Afterlife.
The other cover features the new characters that were introduced in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and it also teases a new ghost and some brand new busting technology from Frozen Empire.

Columbia Pictures’ Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire has pushed up its release date by one week, from March 29 to March 22, 2024, Sony announced on Tuesday.
The move positions the film to capitalize on another week of spring break viewership in a fairly open window, opening against Lionsgate’s Mark Wahlberg adventure pic Arthur the King and Focus Features’ The American Society of Magical Negroes, among other titles.
Set to screen in IMAX and premium large formats, the latest picture in the storied Ghostbusters franchise watches as the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.

There is no Gozer, only… well, we don’t know yet.
After the chaos that followed the release of 2016’s series revamp Ghostbusters: Answer the Call, Sony went full nostalgia with Ghostbusters: Afterlife in an attempt to appease change-resistant fans. The studio recruited Jason Reitman, son of original director Ivan Reitman, as well as the original four Ghostbusters (including the late Harold Ramis in CGI-ghost form). Afterlife even brought back the main villain of that first movie, Gozer the Gozerian.
In other words, it was a textbook legacy sequel that introduced a new generation of heroes while nodding to the originals, and according to Afterlife co-writer Gil Kenan, the movie’s structure demanded Gozer’s return.

The idea behind Ghostbusters: Afterlife was to bring the franchise back to its original roots, introducing new characters with ties to the past while also bringing the original Ghostbusters back into the mix. It proved to be a smart choice, with the nostalgia-heavy Afterlife scaring up over $200 million at the box office. But it sounds like next year’s Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is leaving much of the past behind, promising a new story, a new threat and new mythology.
Director Gil Kenan (Monster House) tells Empire Online, “Because the Spengler family story drove the narrative in Afterlife, bringing Gozer back to centre-stage was a natural way to close the book on the past. Original Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson all returned to their roles for Ghostbusters: Afterlife (watch it Here) – and they’re also back in the upcoming sequel, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, which is scheduled to reach theatres on March 29, 2024! Given how prominent they were in the trailer, it seems like the Og Ghostbusters may have bigger roles this time. Today, the folks at Empire have unveiled a new image from the film that shows Murray on the classic firehouse set, accompanied by Paul Rudd as his Afterlife character Gary Grooberson. You can check it out at the bottom of this article.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife stars Finn Wolfhard and Mckenna Grace are back for the sequel, reprising the roles of Trevor and Phoebe. In addition to Rudd and the Og Ghostbusters, they’re joined in the cast by Carrie Coon, playing Trevor and Phoebe’s mom Callie; William Atherton as Walter Peck,...

Columbia Pictures’ Ghostbusters: Afterlife went nuclear with the nostalgia and yet somehow left Slimer out of the reunion. Thankfully, he’ll be returning in next year’s Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the studio revealed today on socials.
The official Ghostbusters socials shared a massive lenticular theater display that announced the return of Slimer and “a new empire of spirits.” While Slimer didn’t appear in Afterlife, the ghost did appear with a female companion in Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters remake.
Last April, Jason Reitman explained to The A.V. Club that Slimer didn’t appear in Afterlife because of the Oklahoma setting: “…every culture has their own ghost stories, and we want to see all of them.“
In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take...

Starting his career with an uncredited role in Akira Kurosawa's “Ran” in 1985, the first role anybody would have noticed Susumu Terajima would have been in Takeshi Kitano's 1989 debut “Violent Cop”, as a drug addict henchman. Since then, he has been a notable face in many a cops vs. thugs film, among others, now with over 200 credits to his name.
Having been a regular with some of Japan's leading directors, notably Kitano, Takashi Miike, Hirokazu Koreeda and Sabu, to name but a few, he is typically always the bridesmaid, never the bride. Terajima's career has been one of support roles, not often taking the lead, but his face is a reliable one, with many top directors turning to him, and any Japanese cinema connoisseur will need more than 2 hands to count the number of roles of his they've seen.
Here are some standouts from his career that has seen him play: a likeable,...

Fans of “The Gilded Age” know that Carrie Coon provides the social-climbing spark to a costume drama where most of the characters are seething or scheming underneath their polite veneers. As Bertha Russell, Coon is always one step ahead of the old money elites attempting to thwart the rise of her and her railroad baron husband, George, and their family. But the impeccably tailored outfits that Bertha wears like armor to do battle with the gatekeepers of late 19th-century New York society can
be hazardous.
“There’s an episode where I’m at a tennis club for a party, and I could barely walk in that dress,” Coon says. “They had to come in and do an intervention and cut fabric out and change the under-bustle, because I was falling over. And then they put you in three-inch heels and a pearl choker, which when you take that off at the end of the night,...
