The devoted culture warriors dedicated to taking Jason Aldean’s “Try That in a Small Town” to the top of the charts appear to have already grown bored of the song as it plummeted from Number One to Number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week.
Last week, the song topped the Hot 100, several months after its initial release in April, and following the arrival of a controversial music video that critics — from the country music world to academia — said promoted white nationalism and painted protests against racial injustice as lawless and violent.

Young Thug’s new album Business is Business dropped last week, and, as usual with an A-list rap release, the music isn’t the only thing making headlines. Thug’s third studio album, which debuted at number 2 on the charts, is his first full-length release while incarcerated and awaiting trial on the Ysl Rico case. Some fans have been attentively listening to the project seeking inklings of Thug’s thoughts on the case and his — former? — friend Gunna.

Cage is hitting the beach!
Having recently saddled up for his first Western, Nicolas Cage looks set to ride some waves for the first time on screen, having been cast to lead elevated psychological thriller The Surfer from director Lorcan Finnegan (Vivarium, Nocebo) and screenwriter Thomas Martin.
Mossbank, the partnership between Sculptor Media and Raven and headed by Michael Rothstein and Sam Hall, is handling international sales and introducing The Surfer to buyers at the Cannes Market. Domestic sales will be repped by WME Independent.
In The Surfer, when a man (Cage) returns to his beachside hometown in Australia, many years since building a life for himself in the U.S., he is humiliated in front of his teenage son by a local gang of surfers who claim strict ownership over the secluded beach of his childhood. Wounded, “The Surfer” decides to remain at the beach, declaring war against those in control of the bay.

For those who think J. Cole is the most self-serious rapper, I give you Nav, the Punjabi-Canadian artist whose persona is the embodiment of workplace posters telling you to work hard and reach for the stars. The 32-year-old rapper is known to tweet like an overly earnest teenager. Like the time that he said “you can’t win a race with a friend who is not ready to pass a baton; Or when he claimed he is “addicted to staying lowkey, and my personal favorite, “Being mentally tough is worth more than muscles.
