For one glorious and weirdly prolonged moment in the early 2000s, audiences simply couldn't get enough of body-swap comedies. Two extremely different people from very opposite walks of life magically turned into each other overnight! They looked the same and talked the same, but deep down they weren't who they seemed to be! Hijinks ensued!
Because Hollywood is absolutely no fun and more or less stopped letting movie stars do their thing, this trend died out with a whimper over time ... but maybe it's now getting the comeback it deserves? Rather than something new and original, however, Disney is going back to the drawing board and resurrecting 2003's Millennial classic "Freaky Friday." I guess we'll take what we can get at this point. The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop on a new sequel in the works, finally gaining traction over 20 years after the original. That's not all, though. One of our favorite fellows competing on “The Masked Singer” season 11 is disguised as the Gumball. He wowed the crowd in his first appearance on March 13 with a medley of “If I Only Had a Heart” by Jack Haley and “Heartbeat Song” by Kelly Clarkson. It became clear quite quickly that this contender is someone who has made his living by raising his voice in song.
Forget those guesses by the judges Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Rita Ora and Robin Thicke that Gumball is Chace Crawford, Jamie Dornan or Kevin Jonas. We’ve rewatched that first performance and taken another look at his clues package. We are sure we’ve cracked the code as to Gumball’s true identity. Keep reading as we have all your “The Masked Singer” spoilers, including the answer to the question, “Who is Gumball?”

For actor Justin Hartley, Super Bowl Sunday brought an extra level of excitement beyond being the biggest night in professional sports. Hartley, spending the weekend in Las Vegas leading up to the big game, was debating whether his favorite football team, The Chicago Bears, should keep their current quarterback, Justin Fields, or use their No. 1 draft pick in April to select Caleb Williams (who many sports analysts are calling a generational player in that position).
But the biggest reason for anticipation around Sunday’s match-up between the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs was that the game served as the lead-in for the This Is Us star’s next series, Tracker, which aired immediately after the game on CBS.
Executive produced by Harley and former This Is Us producer/director Ken Olin, Tracker is based on the best-selling novel The Never Game by Jeffery Deaver. The book follows the...

Mere days after returning with its strikes-delayed and supersized third season, the Quinta Brunson comedy has been renewed for a fourth season at ABC. The news was announced by co-star William Stanford Davis (aka Mr. Johnson) on Saturday at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour, where he was a surprise guest during ABC’s time before the press corps.
Disney Television Group president Craig Erwich also announced renewals for Celebrity Family Feud and Jeopardy Masters, as sources say Dancing With the Stars will also return for its 33rd season.
Season three returned Wednesday with ratings that were on par with its sophomore debut (2.8 million total viewers and a 0.5 in the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic for its first part and 2.7 million and a 0.5 for the latter). Birds of Prey has not had the best of luck when it comes to live-action. Before the Harley Quinn spin-off, there was an original television series back in 2002. It wasn’t received well. The show only had one season as it was canceled very quickly. That leads us to the 2020 version that puts a whole new cast in the iconic comic book roles. Labeled under, Harley Quinn (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), the film was better received by critics and some fans, but it still tanked at the box office. Understandably, Warner Brothers Discovery likely has...

Channing Dungey first joined Warner Bros. TV Group as chairman in late 2020 — right in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, which made for an interesting first year on the job. Then came the Warner Media-Discovery merger in 2022, and the restructuring that came with it. In 2023, the Hollywood strikes disrupted the business again.
“It’s been a lot of tumult since I’ve been in the role,” Dungey recently reflected to Variety. “I’m hoping — and I’m knocking wood as I say this — that as we round the corner into 2024, we’re behind some of those bigger challenges. I’m sure there will be something new on the horizon, but I’m hopeful that 2024 marks a return to business as usual.”
The entertainment industry remains in flux, of course, with more disruption anticipated this year. But in her own corner of the biz, Dungey said she feels some truly positive momentum.

Globally renowned Italian comic book artist Mirka Andolfo, creator of the steamy series “Sweet Paprika,” is releasing a new comic titled “Blasfamous.” The story is set in a world where pop stars have ascended to divinity, dominated by a singer named Clelia who is loosely inspired by Lady Gaga.
The new eros-infused horror comic launches on Feb. 21 published by new American digital comics imprint Dstlry, co-founded by former Amazon execs David Steinberger and Chip Mosher.
Last year, Andolfo won a prestigious Harvey Award for “Sweet Paprika” — which was optioned by former Netflix exec Erik Barmak’s Wild Sheep for an animated series adaptation — and has been collaborating with DC Comics since 2015. She has done artwork for titles such as “Wonder Woman,” “Harley Quinn,” “DC Bombshells” and the upcoming “Batman: White Knight Presents – Generation Joker.”

David Ayer's 2016 DC Comics film "Suicide Squad" is a horrendous mess. It started with an interesting enough premise -- imprisoned supervillains are teamed up and forced to perform morally dubious acts of heroism in exchange for lighter sentences -- but the story wasn't clear and the editing was atrocious. Many were keen to see Will Smith play the supervillain Deadshot, while others were fond of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, but few were pleased with Ayer's vision of the Joker (Jared Leto) -- an updated, tattooed fiend who resembled Ninja from Die Antwoord more than he did any of the previous comic book iterations of the character.
The editing process for "Suicide Squad" was notoriously hellish. The film's first editor, John Gilroy, left the project early on and had to pass editing duties to the uncredited Oscar winner Lee Smith (who cut several of Christopher Nolan's movies). Infamously,...

The streamer has ordered a fifth season of Harley Quinn, the adult animated series centered on the mayhem-loving character. The renewal comes two months after season four wrapped.
“We’re thrilled that the news of Harley and Ivy’s continuing misadventures is finally out and we can stop telling people in secret,” executive producers Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker and Dean Lorey said in a statement. “We must have handed out at least three thousand NDAs by now. It was a big waste of paper.”

More Harlivy is on the way.
Max has renewed raunchy, violent animated series “Harley Quinn” for Season 5, just a couple months after Season 4 finished its run. The animated DC show, starring Kaley Cuoco as Harley Quinn and Lake Bell as Poison Ivy, has proven to be a hit for Max, and it even has its own spinoff, “Kite Man: Hell Yeah,” coming in 2024.
“‘Harley Quinn’ has raised the comedic crowbar with every new season. We’re excited to continue this partnership with Max and take our biggest swing yet for Season 5,” said Peter Girardi, Executive Vice President of Alternative Programming at Warner Bros. Animation, in a statement.
In Season 4, Harley began working with the Bat-Family, including Robin, Nightwing and Batgirl, while Ivy assumed her new role as the CEO of the Legion of Doom. As Harley started to embrace her more heroic endeavors, she and Ivy butted heads in their relationship.

Kite-Man: Hell Yeah! — the Harley Quinn spin-off series coming to Max — will differ from its predecessor in a key way, according to storyboard artist on both DC shows Christopher Jones.
The 10-episode animated series will revolve around Harley Quinn side character Chuck Brown (Kite-Man), and will take place within the original show's universe. If the character's name sounds silly, that's because he is one of those goofy D-list villains in the vein of Condiment King or the Baffler.
Kite-Man: Hell Yeah! was originally titled Noonan's, referencing the bar that appears throughout Harley Quinn's run. In both iterations, Kite-Man would be seen working with the likes of Bane and Lex Luthor — all three of whom have appeared as relatively prominent side characters in Harley Quinn.

“Rick and Morty.” “Futurama.” “South Park.” ”Bob’s Burgers.” “Archer.” “The Simpsons.” “Family Guy.” “American Dad!”
What do these shows have in common? For one thing, they’re the Top 8 most popular adult animated comedies, according to a Ranker list that’s been voted on by 50,000 TV fans. But the shows also all premiered at least 10 years ago — and as of the writing of this article, they’re all still on the air. (“Archer” will officially conclude with a special finale event in December.)
The story of adult animated comedy arguably begins with the runaway success of “The Simpsons,” which premiered back in 1989. Since then, each successive decade has brought with it a crop of new and seemingly inexhaustible cartoon series, from “The Simpsons” and “South Park” in the 1990s, to “Family Guy” and “Futurama” in the 2000s, to “Bob’s Burgers” and “Rick and Morty” in the 2010s. More than 100 artists contributed to our “Our Frasier Remake,” a frame-by-frame redo of a 1994 episode of NBC sitcom “Frasier,” with the Seattle psychiatrist reimagined as a Lego figure, as Claymation and a dazzling array of other animation styles.
The trailer for the indie project, which follows similar projects “Our Robocop Remake and “Our Footloose Remake,” dropped on Wednesday. It will premiere on Oct. 11 in theaters in Los Angeles, Seattle and Austin, the day before the official reboot, which sees Kelsey Grammer returning to his Emmy-winning role, debuts on Paramount+
“Our Frasier Remake” redoes the Season 1 finale, with 185 uniquely animated segments: A different artist is responsible for each section, reimagining it in their own visual style.
Creator/director Jacob Reed said the episode is “a thinly veiled question about whether or not a spin-off of ‘Cheers’ called ‘Frasier’ was worth it.”

It feels like we’ve been hearing about Krapopolis since the days of ancient Greece, doesn’t it? Fox first ordered the animated comedy from Dan Harmon more than three years ago, and after multiple delays, it’s now quite possibly the only TV show ever to have been renewed for three seasons before even airing a single episode. So now that it’s finally arrived, was it worth the wait? Actually, to my pleasant surprise, it was. Krapopolis — debuting this Sunday, Sept. 24 at 8/7c; I’ve seen the first three episodes — is a very worthy occupant of Fox’s vaunted Sunday night animation block,...

DC Animated Universe just got a new project on the horizon. After the success story of ‘Harley Quinn‘ series, we just got a new teaser for a spin-off series, ‘Kite-Man: Hell Yeah!,’ that will feature Kite-Man after his tenure within the original series. This is exciting news for the fans of the DC Universe since the character “stole” the show during his tenure in ‘Harley Quinn’ series and his appearance in the DC Rebirth arc in the comics, where he became a fan-favorite.
It seems that James Gunn and Peter Safran are working really hard to upgrade the quality of content within the DC Universe, and it’s good to see they are listening to fans and their reactions to the characters. ‘Harley Quinn’ just ended its fourth season, and recently, we got the confirmation that the fifth season is in development, meaning that we will have two comedy DC...

It’s time to wing it — Max has released the first official teaser for its animated “Harley Quinn” spin-off “Kite Man: Hell Yeah!,” which is set to debut in 2024.
“Kite Man and Golden Glider take their relationship to the next level by opening a bar in the shadow of Lex Luthor’s Legion of Doom. Harley Quinn just revealed who killed Nightwing—and it’s not who anyone expected.
Earlier in Harley Quinn Season 4, which is already packed with characters, the animated series took a bold swing: Dick Grayson was killed. Not only that, but no one knows who did it.
One of the prime suspects was Poison Ivy since she does run the Legion of Doom. In a similar vein, it could have been any one of her subordinates as well. Another possible murderer would be the Joker himself, but he seems to have been ruled out already.

DC delivered a lot of live-action and animated content in the last few years. Although the studio has been struggling with the live-action content amid the imminent end of DC Extended Universe, DC never fails to deliver us some animation every year. Apart from the animated movies such as ‘Legion of Super-Heroes,’ ‘Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham,’ and ‘Justice League: Warworld,’ we also watched the ‘Harley Quinn,’ series, which spawned the ‘Valentine’s Day Special’ and its fourth season this year.
Harley Quinn animated series premiered in November 2019 on the former DC Universe streaming service, followed by the second season only two months after the first one ended. After the DC Universe was shut down as a streaming service, the series was moved to HBOMax, which was rebranded to simply Max in May this year. Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Studios are in a rough era they’d like to forget as soon as possible, at least regarding their live-action content. However, DC has always been known for terrific animated content since the legendary ‘Batman: The Animated Series.’ In the last 30 years, DC spawned many animated movies and television series. Some of them were absolutely terrific, and the minority of them not so much, but still, DC fans always have a good reason to look forward to upcoming animated content.
Last July, WB and DC officially announced two brand-new animated movies — ‘Watchmen’ and ‘Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths’ — and it’s hard to say which one we’re more looking forward to. Both of these movies will adapt some of the most known storylines that DC Comics ever published. Still, according to some recent reports, it looks like the studio is aware that these...

Max, formerly known as HBO Max, has rolled out its first Top 10 lists in an effort to increase engagement with its best films and series.
Atop the inaugural podium for series are “Hard Knocks” (NFL training camp with the New York Jets), “And Just Like That…,” and “Winning Time,” a series about the Los Angeles Lakers of the ’80s.
Leading movies are DC disappointment “The Flash,” Bishop Sycamore high-school football documentary “Bs High,” and 2015 Will Ferrell/Kevin Hart prison comedy “Get Hard.”
It measures only those series that released a new episode on the platform within the last six weeks period and movies that debuted within the last eight weeks. Those are the windows when hits usually happen; you’ll see movies a heck of a lot older then “Get Hard” on Max’s top 10. Linear tune-in via HBO or the Discovery cable channels does not count toward Max’s Top 10.

Los Angeles, Sept 1 (Ians) The Robert Pattinson-starrer ‘The Batman’ had already announced its sequel for 2025. While date is likely to be pushed due to the Hollywood strikes, director Matt Reeves has revealed the villains, narrowing down the options to either Clayface or Mister Freeze.
Matt Reeves had earlier also expressed great interest in wanting to use either Clayface or Mister Freeze for the sequel, along with the Court of Owls, Professor Pyg or the Calendar Man instead of constantly focusing on the Joker.
The sequel will kick off production in March 24, 2024, instead of the originally scheduled to begin filming this November, due to the ongoing WGA strike, though a delay in release date, while likely hasn’t been confirmed, Aceshowbiz reported.

Arleen Sorkin, the original voice and inspiration behind Batman villain Harley Quinn, has died at the age of 67, TheWrap has learned. The news broke on social media Saturday, with numerous fans and colleagues sharing their memories of the actress and the character she helped bring to the screen.
Unlike most characters in the world of Batman, Harley Quinn did not make her debut in the DC comic books, but rather in the acclaimed ’90s animated show “Batman: The Animated Series.” Sorkin first played Quinn on the show’s seventh episode “Joker’s Favor,” with the character initially set to only appear in a single episode. But she became a recurring part of the main cast after a rough cut of the episode was met well by the producers.

Within a three-week time span this August, audiences have been able to watch two British teenage boys wrestle with when to come out as a couple to their school (in Season 2 of the Netflix series “Heartstopper”), the first son and the prince of England make passionate love in a plush Parisian hotel suite and a pair of lesbian BFFs start a fight club at their high school to cajole the hottest cheerleaders to sleep with them (in the MGM sex comedy “Bottoms”).
This is, to put it mildly, unusual.
“When I started out, you’d have one queer show in the U.K. on TV a year — or every other year — and that was it,” says “Heartstopper” executive producer Patrick Walters. “It was a niche thing: One and done, and then we move on to more ‘mainstream’ stories.”
Instead, this month boasts the greatest concentration of high-profile queer content in recent memory.

Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Studios are currently in a pretty rough era since their last three Dceu movies have all turned out to be commercial failures, and things aren’t looking promising for the upcoming ‘Blue Beetle’ either. However, we mustn’t forget the animated projects that DC is currently developing, and there we have some new things that are promising quite a lot.

“Harley Quinn” is inarguably one of the most irreverent shows in the DC catalogue, but it does have its limits — at least when it comes to certain legacy characters.

“I would say Superman and Batman are the two main ones where it’s like, do not humiliate these characters,” Hamilton told TheWrap shortly after the panel. “It’s like, you know, if you want to put something silly on Superman, like, say, a diaper, [they’re] gonna say, ‘Superman...

Although Warner Bros. Discovery has cut quite a number of shows on Max, fans are thankful that Harley Quinn has survived. The series was renewed last year, and the new Nsfw trailer for Harley Quinn season 4 debuted today at San Diego Comic-Con.
With more sex, more drama, and more Harlivy, the Harley Quinn season 4 trailer offers everything fans have been hungry for. Picking up where the third season left off, the new season will find Harley giving the superhero thing a try, although she’s clearly struggling with the Bat Family’s “no killing” policy.
“This biting and uproarious adult animated comedy follows Harley Quinn (voiced by executive producer Kaley Cuoco) as she strikes out on her own following her breakup with The Joker (Alan Tudyk),” reads the official synopsis. “With help from Poison Ivy (Lake Bell) and a ragtag crew of DC castoffs, Harley attempts to work her way into the Legion of Doom,...
