The most uneven of David Cronenberg’s early commercial horror features, the 1977 “Rabid,” was nonetheless probably the biggest success among them, in large part due to the novelty value of seeing “Behind the Green Door” porn superstar and erstwhile Ivory Snow detergent-box model Marilyn Chambers in a lurid mainstream vehicle. It’s also the one ripest for remake, if only because his just-prior “Shivers” aka “They Came from Within” and ensuing “The Brood” should be left alone — largely reviled upon release, they’re now rightly considered genre classics. Lacking their outrageous ideas and cumulative narrative momentum despite some striking elements, “Rabid” nonetheless has a strong-enough basic concept to warrant revisiting.
In theory, “twisted twins” Jen and Sylvia Soska are fair candidates for that job: Like Cronenberg, they’re Canadian, attracted to body-horror, and have cut their own path from micro-budget projects toward the mainstream. They also claim they dislike remakes as a rule,...

Get ready to enter the dark side of the McU. Marvel is gearing up to explore the mature, horror-flavored corner of the comics universe soon with projects such as Blade and Moon Knight. As such, we already know to expect vampires and men imbued with powers by an Egyptian God to be running around the McU. But now, we’re hearing that werewolves will be joining the fray, too. Specifically, anti-hero Werewolf By Night Aka Jack Russell.
McU Cosmic has reported that it’s looking likely that Moon Knight will feature Werewolf By Night in a supporting role. This isn’t the first time the character has been linked to Marvel’s upcoming plans, either, so this info seems pretty reliable. The outlet’s Jeremy Conrad speculates that his involvement in the Disney Plus series could point to a possible connection to Blade as well, which Wgtc first told you was the case last month.

Director Quentin Tarantino, who directed Robert Forster in his Academy Award-nominated role of Max Cherry in Jackie Brown, remember the late actor today as a “straight shooter” and “good man.”
“Today the world is left with one less gentlemen,” said Tarantino. “One less square shooter. One less good man. One less wonderful father. One less marvelous actor. Werewolf is a Polish World War II thriller about eight children who have escaped from a concentration camp and are hiding in a secluded villa to avoid the bloodthirsty hounds that have been released by the SS officers before their retreat.
Summer of 1945. A temporary orphanage is established in an abandoned palace surrounded by forests for the eight children liberated from the Gross-Rosen camp. Hanka, also a former inmate, becomes their guardian. After the atrocities of the camp, the protagonists slowly begin to regain what is left of their childhood, but the horror returns quickly. Camp Alsatians roam the forests around. Released by the SS earlier on, they have gone feral and are starving. Looking for food they besiege the palace. The children are terrified and their camp survival instinct is triggered.
Inspired by real-life, historical events, writer and director Adrian Panek turns the nightmare of the Holocaust into literal monsters.

It was another big weekend for Marvel Studios as they officially announced Black Panther II along with new Disney+ series Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk.
Well, now it looks like there might be another Marvel character coming to the McU. That character is Jack Russell, a.k.a. Werewolf By Night. The news comes from Geeks WorldWide, who says, “our sources aren’t clear on where Werewolf will first appear, but Moon Knight is a possibility since Moon Knight made his comic debut in Werewolf by Night #32 and they have had strong ties ever since.”
However, there’s also a chance that the character could appear in Blade because he has connection to that character as well. The report also says that they’ve heard Dracula will appear in Blade as well, making Werewolf By Night’s “involvement even more likely.”

It was confirmed over the weekend at D23 that Moon Knight is finally coming to the McU, with the nocturnal hero getting his own TV show on Disney Plus in the near future (likely 2022). Fans have been calling for ol’ Moonie to get his big break in live-action for years and now, it’s finally happening. But what could he look like on screen?
That remains to be seen, but this awesome piece of fan art gives us a good idea of how Marvel Studios will realize his design. Raf Grassetti, Art Director at Sony Santa Monica, shared his own take on how Moon Knight could look in the McU on social media and the result is a stunning mix of a comic-accurate costume with an extra armored, hi-tech edge that’s in keeping with the aesthetic of the franchise.

Moon Knight, the Fist of Khonshu, he of the awesome costume and annoying Batman comparisons, is getting a Disney+ series.
Worried that Marvel's lineup of Disney+ TV shows was too heavily focused on leaning on characters you already knew about from the McU movies? Well, fear not, true believer, because there's a Moon Knight TV series coming to Disney+. The Moon Knight TV series was first revealed by Kevin Feige at the D23 Expo. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Umbrella Academy TV series writer Jeremy Slater will serve as showrunner on the Disney+ Moon Knight show. Moon Knight was created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin and first appeared, appropriately enough, in the pages of Marvel's Werewolf by Night series in 1975.
Moon Knight is Marc Spector, a former mercenary and adventurer who becomes the avatar of the Egyptian moon god Khonshu after some archaeological misadventuring.

Cannes — Buoyed by a wave of international successes, including Pawel Pawlikowski’s 2019 foreign-language Oscar nominee “Cold War,” Polish cinema will get a fitting showcase Sunday morning with the presentation of five new projects at New Horizons’ Polish Days Goes to Cannes.
Organized in conjunction with the Polish Film Institute, Polish Days is the most important industry event of the New Horizons Intl. Film Festival. Each year roughly 25 new Polish projects are presented at the festival in Wroclaw to a packed house of producers, sales agents, festival programmers, funding bodies, and other industry representatives from around the globe.

A few years ago, when she was still an up-and-coming producer in Warsaw, Klaudia Smieja met skeptics who thought she’d bit off more than she could chew with “Mr. Jones”: an ambitious, 1930s-set drama directed by Academy Award nominee Agnieszka Holland, with a €10 million ($11.3 million) budget that dwarfed the typical ask for a Polish feature film.
But Smieja set her sights beyond Poland. Selected as one of European Film Promotion’s Producers on the Move in 2016 — a group that’s feted annually on the Croisette during the Cannes Film Festival — she joined a network of ambitious young talents from around the continent. Like her, many were emerging producers touting risky projects while learning to finesse complicated financing structures.
“It really gave me power to push ‘Mr. Jones,’” says Smieja, who was lead producer on a Poland-Ukraine-u.K. co-production that world premiered in competition at the Berlin Film Festival this year.

It’s the things that lurk in the dark that scare me the most.
No food. One bandage left. Knocking on the door. It’s 2:30 in the morning, what could possibly be at my door? Nothing good. No weapons other then a heavily damaged spiked plank I cobbled together from loose scraps. Fighting is not an option. The lights are flickering. The banging stopped, but the front door just creaked open. I rush to close it. In what I think is a moment of brilliance, I push my sofa in front of the door. It’s sloppy, but hopefully, it will slow whatever is outside down. Damn, the banging is back, only this time it’s coming from the window. Why can’t they leave me alone? I just want some rest. I slink back into the corner gripping my shoddy weapon, willing the sun to rise a bit faster.

If you’ve participated in a board game night over the past few years, you’ve probably played your fair share of Werewolf, a hidden role party game in which each player is secretly assigned a role – either a werewolf or a villager. As night falls in the game, the werewolves murder the residents of an […]

What we know about Dying Light 2, including latest news, trailers, release date, and much more!
Dying Light 2, the sequel to the beloved zombie parkour open-world RPG, has been announced by Techland. During E3 2018, it was also revealed that RPG legend Chris Avellone, who previously worked on Fallout: New Vegas and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, is working on Dying Light 2. Unsurprisingly, this sequel will have a bigger emphasis on decision-making, as you embark on missions for different factions. How you decide to handle certain situations will have huge consequences as you progress.
"The bold sequel to the open-world phenomenon, Dying Light 2 brings to life a unique post-apocalyptic vision of the Modern Dark Ages - a brutal, bleak and unforgiving reality where you are as likely to perish at the hand of a human as you are by the infected," said Techland in a press release.

An American Werewolf in London remains the most modern take on grisly gothic horror and one of the best werewolf movies ever.
This article contains spoilers for a movie released in 1981.
There is a pub in Manhattan's West Village that at first glance is just another one of the many dive bars NYU students frequent. But this one is particularly tailored for the film school set with its low lighting, its faux-fire, and, of course, a giant life-sized werewolf devouring a peasant girl in the back. Like its namesake from An American Werewolf in London, the Slaughtered Lamb is a pub touched by the occult and supernatural—it is also proof that over 35 years later horror fans can't shake the Mark of Beast left by John Landis’ lycanthrope classic.
Welcomed by a rather mixed critical reception upon its release (Roger Ebert called it “weird” and “unfinished” while...

Paul Naschy was arguably Spain's finest maker of horror movies, many of which were little seen.
It's been 10 years since the death of Paul Naschy, Spain's finest purveyor of horror, and it still seems somehow unreal and unfair. He was 75 years old and boasted an acting career that lasted from 1960 to only months before he died, with well over a hundred credits (often lead roles) to his name, yet Naschy still had so much to give. Despite suffering long-term depression and undergoing major heart surgery, his spirit, enthusiasm and unpretentious adoration of genre cinema made him feel irrepressible. I could well imagine his barrel-chested form wrestling the Grim Reaper into submission and stealing his gown as a prop for use in a later film but no, Naschy has gone...

Moon Knight is joining the McU with a TV series on Disney+. To say Marc Spector has a complicated history would be an understatement.
Since Moon Knight was created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin in 1975’s Werewolf by Night #32, the Fist of Khonshu has been a fixture of the Marvel Universe. Through it all, Marc Spector has swapped identities, costumes, and supporting casts. But the one motif that has stayed constant with Moon Knight is the very thing that sets him apart from Batman and other caped avengers: he suffers from severe mental health issues but still fights for justice and it has made the character unique in Marvel’s pantheon. There have been a number of talented creators that tried to find the key to Moon Knight’s publishing success, but few have ever really managed to bring Moon Knight to mainstream success.
