One of the most heartfelt songs of all time and one of the most iconic songs of the 1980's, "I Want to Know What Love Is" was so huge that it got
a whole new legion of fans to Foreigner, a band that already had an extensive career in the previous decade. But this power ballad is the one that
conquered countless hearts and minds around the world and made the group shift a little its course.
Must say the video is amazingly corny with its presentation of the group and some characters all being shown through slow motion effects during their moments of loneliness until they all come together, along with New Jersey Mass Choir, the group responsible for the background voices during the music's crescendo towards the ending. In fact, the group got so popular after this that they made a full cover of this very song.
Visually speaking, director Brian Gibson tried too much and the result is a little awkward, but the song is so great and relevant that one easily ignores the weird presentation and just feel the joy and emotions from the lyrics and the sounds. Pretty effective. 8/10.
