Bad Boys: Ride or Die is living up to the premise, “Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?” The “they” in this scenario are the U.S. Marshals, led by Judy Howard, who is played by Rhea Seehorn. The fourth film in the action-comedy series is currently enjoying a round of success as it becomes one of the bigger hits of the summer in a year where most large releases are failing to live up to expectations. While the Bad Boys series is usually a show for the duo of Martin Lawrence and Will Smith, this new installment splits the focus on some of the supporting characters — one being Captain Howard’s daughter.

Back in October, we learned that Warner Bros. Animation and director Pete Browngardt are set to bring us a new Looney Tunes Movie that sounds like a blast: it’s called The Day the Earth Blew Up, and it’s a sci-fi comedy adventure about Daffy Duck and Porky Pig dealing with an alien invasion! The movie is expected to reach theatres later this year, although a release date hasn’t yet been announced – and in anticipation of the release, a sneak peek video has arrived online! In the clip embedded above, we get to see how Daffy and Porky prepare for a home inspection.
In The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, Daffy and Porky (both voiced by Eric Bauza) learn that aliens are plotting to overtake the planet, which leads the pair to put their differences aside and help save the world.

“Nothing lasts forever.” There’s something deeply ironic about that line of dialogue being dropped by Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow in only the second Avengers movie from almost 10 years ago. While Johansson’s tenure in the superhero genre is apparently over, with the Oscar-nominated star more recently focusing on films like Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City, the MCU is still going strong with the latest whispers about Avengers 5 getting the rumor mills spinning again. Hence one of the reasons Steve Carell and Illumination Entertainment’s new marketing for Despicable Me 4 is so biting.
Carell—who, by the by, was also in Asteroid City—took time to promote not only Despicable Me 4 in a new viral marketing video, but an entire supposed “Mega Minions” shared universe that will outlive us all and see the 22nd century.
“Despicable Me 4 is just the beginning,” Carell promises (warns?) with...

Hollywood is a constant churning mill of content with competitiveness rooted at its core. A striking example of this is the current summer box office that has witnessed a tide of resurgence following the release of the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence starrer Bad Boys: Ride or Die. The fourth installment in the franchise holds immense importance, at least for the former entertainment stalwart, who is marking his biggest return to the big screens after the 2022 Oscars debacle.

It was, once again, a Big Willie Weekend.
But for some moviegoers, it involved an act of live theater.
“Bad Boys: Ride or Die” was a massive hit for Sony, and beat all box office projections with a $56 million domestic haul plus an additional $48 million internationally. There were a lot of fingers crossed on this one, considering both the directors and central star had to overcome some setbacks.
For the Belgian helmers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, it was their first at-bat since David Zaslav had “Batgirl” ash-canned. For Will Smith, it was his first mainstream movie since he lost his cool at the 94th Academy Awards and whapped Chris Rock across the face and barked profanities at him following a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair. Smith’s next picture “Emancipation” for Apple TV+ was already in the can, but “Bad Boys” was the test to see...

Original plans called for The Flash to end with Michael Keaton's Batman in the Dceu. He'd have gone on to appear in Batgirl and Batman Beyond, likely meeting Ben Affleck's Caped Crusader in Crisis on Infinite Earths.
DC Studios scrapped all of those ideas, and the plan is to introduce a new Batman in Andy Muschietti's The Brave and the Bold. That story will revolve around Bruce Wayne training his son, Damian, as Robin, adapting elements from Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's Batman and Robin.
We still don't know who is writing the movie and, based on several comments from DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn, the Caped Crusader is still a long way from being cast in the Dcu.
The Boys and Supernatural star Jensen Ackles remains a fan-favourite choice to play the Dcu's Caped Crusader, and he's no stranger to the role after lending his voice...

Good news for those Bad Boys: audiences are still ride or die for the exploits of Mike and Marcus. That’s reflected in the opening weekend box office figures for the buddy-action franchise’s fourth instalment, Bad Boys: Ride Or Die, which saw Will Smith and Martin Lawrence draw in an impressive haul – earning over $100 million worldwide. In a stuttering summer, with major movies like Furiosa and The Fall Guy underperforming, that’s a significant success; particularly considering Bad Boys doesn’t sit on the CGI-heavy mega-spectacle end of the blockbuster spectrum.
Bad Boys: Ride Or Die earned $56 million at the US box office, and added $48 million from across the rest of the world, all adding up to an opening weekend of $104 million. That’s significantly higher than the opening haul for The Fall Guy (around $65 million), and Furiosa (roughly $59 million). The film is directed by Adil & Bilall – who...

Sunday Am Final: Sony’s Bad Boys: Ride or Die had a great Saturday of $19.5M, -10% against previews/first day of $21.6M, for what’s shaping up to be a $56M opening. This is the highest-grossing R-rated opening since Oppenheimer last July, and Will Smith’s sixth-highest U.S./Canada opening overall of his career and his 18th No. 1 opening as a leading man.
For Martin Lawrence, Bad Boys: Ride or Die is his 8th No. 1 domestic opening. The Jerry Bruckheimer-produced, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah-directed fourthquel beats its recent round of tracking of $40M+, but is also ahead of its initial $50M+ forecast from three weeks ago, proving there’s still life in moviegoing. Really. This is just the beginning of summer. Global was even bigger on Bad Boys 4 with $104.6M.

In January 2020, Adil and Bilall began to ride high. The Belgian directing duo’s American debut, Bad Boys for Life, set a franchise record with $424 million, becoming the highest grossing domestic film of the pandemic-stricken year. That fall, they joined the MCU’s Ms. Marvel and helmed the first two episodes of Kamala Khan’s coming-of-age superhero series. Led by Iman Vellani, the Disney+ show would eventually garner critical acclaim, especially Adil and Bilall’s outings, which added some much-welcomed visual flourishes to Earth-616. Then, in the spring of 2021, the filmmakers extended their hot streak when they signed on to direct the Dceu’s Batgirl for HBO Max. And to top it all off, in May of 2022, their Belgian film, Rebel, premiered at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival to strong reviews.

Would-be summer blockbusters have had a bit of a hard time pulling in audiences lately. These movies not only failed to meet expectations but have also started to make cinema observers second guess what the audience and moviegoers crave. Movies like The Fall Guy and Furiosa have had good buzz building before their premieres and both were generally well received by the critics and people who saw it. However, neither made much in the way of money, and even a seemingly sure thing like Garfield didn’t fare much better.
The real test comes with the summer release titles like Deadpool & Wolverine, Inside Out 2 or Despicable Me 4. All of them are movie sequels with pre-established fan bases and past successes. However, Bad Boys: Ride or Die is also somewhat of a litmus test. The franchise has been a big money-maker, and it may give an insight into whether...

While not brand new to the scene, directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (collectively known as Adil & Bilall) gained widespread recognition for directing 2020’s Bad Boys for Life, taking over for Michael Bay. It was decently received by critics, with audiences going crazy for it, leading it to finish as the fourth highest-grossing film of the year.

Maybe it’s the Florida heat, but this series about Miami cop-buddies named Mike (Will Smith) and Marcus (Martin Lawrence) just gets ever more delirious. What started out as a flashy-but-routine police thriller got a sequel in which they invaded Cuba (this was probably the most restrained part of the film) and another in which they went up against a witch (an actual witch). Now, coming quick off the staggering success of part three, we get Bad Boys: Ride Or Die, in which, early on, Marcus suffers a heart attack and experiences a lavish vision quest, complete with magical parrot and a Force Ghost-esque incarnation of Joey Pants. Yes, Joe Pantoliano’s Captain Howard, previously a nuclear-tempered ballbuster prone to spitting lines such as, “I’ve got so much brass up my ass that I can play ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’!”, in this movie is a serene presence, guiding our heroes from beyond the grave.

Audiences had to wait eight years between the first Bad Boys and Bad Boys II, and another 17 years for the threequel, Bad Boys for Life, which thanks to filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah became the highest grossing installment in the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence action cop series at $426.5M. When Warner Bros. Discovery dropped an anvil on Coyote vs. Acme, it was like Batgirl all over again — except it might have been an even bigger blow. While it’s up for serious questioning as to whether or not Batgirl was truly “unreleasable”, Coyote vs. Acme was by most accounts looking to be a pretty darn good movie. Now, the directors of Batgirl are showing their support for a fellow Wbd movie that was left hovering over a cliff’s edge.
Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the directors behind Batgirl, showed their concern over how studios are willing to openly discard films, particularly name-checking the director of Coyote vs. Acme. “It’s an extra thing to worry about in Hollywood, and that’s sad. Despite some quantity-over-quality issues during the Multiverse Saga, the MCU continues to draw massive interest from moviegoers and comic book fans. That goes some way in explaining why we get so many rumours about its future and we're back today with another roundup.
We start with information shared by Jeff Sneider. He chimes in on some recent rumblings about the MCU, including that latest report about Captain America: Brave New World needing only 22 days of reshoots (read more about that here).
Sneider believes more additional photography is planned for later in 2024 and notes, "From what I’ve heard, it's going to take a lot more than 22 days to fix everything that’s wrong with this movie."
Another supposedly troubled MCU project is Blade. First announced at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, the reboot has been through multiple writers and directors and, as we write this, still seems no closer to happening.

We have an update on Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios' search for a director to take the helm of Spider-Man 4, and it seems Ms. Marvel and Bad Boys: Ride or Die filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah may indeed be in contention to land the gig.

Richtman also indicates that directors with "a current connection with Sony and Marvel Studios" are being looked at, and the studios may also be focused on enlisting "an indie director like they did with Jon Watts."

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence’s Bad Boys: Ride or Die has received clearance to roll into China. The Sony Pictures film will hit Chinese cinemas on June 22, according to both the studio and local press reports in Beijing. The film opens theatrically in North America on June 7.
The new film is the fourth installment in the long-running Bad Boys franchise, following Bad Boys for Life (2020), which revived the movie series after a 17-year hiatus and was a worldwide hit with $426 million in total ticket revenue. Bad Boys for Life earned just $3 million in China, but it was released there amid the challenges of the pandemic.
Bad Boys 4 is helmed by Bad Boys for Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the Belgian duo who infamously had their $90 million Batgirl feature for Max shelved for a tax break by Warner Bros. Discovery in 2022.

At long last, Eddie Murphy is reprising his role as street-smart cop Axel Foley in the fourth instalment of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise, which is set to hit Netflix this summer. But, it isn’t easy being a middle aged action star. It’s been nearly thirty years since we last saw Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley, and in a recent interview with People Magazine he admitted that the shoot was a “rough one”.“I did Axel Foley when I was in my 20s. I am not in my 20s anymore,” he said. At any rate, Murphy won’t be the only aged actor from the original to show up, with many of the classic Beverly Hills Cop cast members are set to join him in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley. Here’s everything we know about Beverly Hills Cop 4!

‘Spider-Man 4’ is one of MCU’s most anticipated projects in the works. Tom Holland confirmed he’s returning as Peter Parker, alongside Zendaya as Mj. Besides these details, much about the movie remains unknown.
Earlier reports suggested it would explore the street-level stories in the MCU, but recent reports indicate otherwise.
Various directors have been linked to helming the movie, including Jon Watts, who withdrew due to other commitments, Sam Raimi, Justin Lin, Drew Goddard, and others.
Among the rumored names were Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi, the directors of the canceled Dceu ‘Batgirl’ movie. In a recent interview with Arabic Mdc, Fallah was asked about the rumors. He politely responded, “I can’t discuss that.”

‘Spider-Man 4’ is one of the most exciting projects that MCU currently has in development. The movie has been in development for quite some time now, Tom Holland confirmed a while ago that he is reprising his role as Peter Parker along with Zendaya who will be back as Mj.
Aside from that, there’s little we know about the movie. Some reports stated that ‘Spider-Man 4’ will focus more on the street-level stories within the MCU, and now the latest reports state something else entirely.
Several names have been mentioned in the context of directing the movie starting with Jon Watts, who eventually pulled out due to involvement with other projects, Sam Raimi, Justin Lin, Drew Goddard, and several others.
One of the rumored names were Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi, the directors of the ill-fated Dceu ‘Batgirl’ movie. In a recent interview with Arabic Mdc, Fallah was questioned about the recent rumors.

The well-oiled hit content-producing machine famed as the Marvel Cinematic Universe has of late seen a slew of hits and misses at the box office. Following Avengers: Endgame, the expectations from the Kevin Feige-led studio have reached sky-high. However, it has yet to meet those and churn out a live-action project for the big screens of that scale and hype.

Rumours about who will direct Spider-Man 4 continue to swirl, with Ms. Marvel and Batgirl directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah among those supposedly in the mix.
Jon Watts helmed Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home but appears ready to move on from the web-slinger. Despite also leaving The Fantastic Four, Kevin Feige is said to be keen on Watts returning to the MCU for another project.
Appearing at a recent screening event for Bad Boys: Ride or Die, Fallah was asked to speak on the Spider-Man 4 rumours and his reaction (refusing to answer the question while saying "I can't talk about that...") may be telling.
While we're not suggesting this has confirmed his and El Arbi's involvement with the movie, it seems highly likely the duo are likely contenders.

When Bad Boys for Life came out in January 2020, it ended a 17-year wait for the third film in the franchise, which launched in 1995 with Bad Boys and continued in 2003 with Bad Boys II. It’s only taken a relatively brief four-plus years to get the latest entry in the series, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, to the screen—but it’s been a tumultuous stretch, to say the least.
“The hope is definitely that everything will be a little bit smoother from now on,” co-director Adil El Arbi, returning to the franchise with directing partner Bilall Fallah after taking over for Michael Bay on the third film, tells Den of Geek ahead of the movie’s arrival. “Because also in those last four years, five years, we have learned so much.

Spider-Man 4 is one of Marvel Studios' most highly anticipated movies but, as we write this, it has no release date or even a confirmed director.
According to Jeff Sneider, Marvel and Sony Pictures are developing a new trilogy together, with the intention being for one director - or a directing duo - to work on all three instalments.
He says it's unclear whether shooting really will begin this fall because Kevin Feige is taking his time choosing a filmmaker and is fully in charge of the creative process. That bodes well for Spider-Man 4 after it was previously reported he might be a little more hands-off due to having so many other commitments in getting the MCU back on the right track.
We've already heard a few different names for the movie, but Sneider makes a point of saying that Feige was particularly impressed with Adil El Arbi and...

Bad Boys apparently really are for life as it seems that this action-packed franchise isn’t ending anytime soon with Sony Pictures’ Bad Boys 4 set to reach theatres in just a couple months. This series, centered on detectives Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett of the Miami Police Department, has already produced three blockbuster films that have grossed over $840 million as well as a spinoff television show, L.A.’s Finest, making it one of the most successful buddy-cop action-comedy series in history. The most recent film, Bad Boys for Life, was one of the last movies to hit theaters before the pandemic shut them all down and was able to be a critical and box office success – so why would the franchise stop now? Will Smith and Martin Lawrence (Lowery and Burnett) are back for the fourth film, and this is music to the ears of fans of the series since...

Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the fourth film in Sony’s action franchise starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, had its first public screenings Wednesday night, and the first reactions have already hit social media.
At a fan screening at AMC The Grove 14 in Los Angeles, Smith and Lawrence made a surprise appearance. There were also screenings in Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Miami, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
The plot to Bad Boys 4 is driven by corruption within the Miami Pd, with Captain Conrad Howard (Joe Pantoliano) accused of working with the drug cartels for years. Detectives Mike Lowrey (Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Lawrence) put together a team to clear Howard’s name but become outlaws in the process.
The cast also includes Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Paola Núñez, Eric Dane and Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd. Franchise regulars Joe Pantoliano as Captain Conrad Howard and John Salley as Fletcher also return.

Direct-to-consumer revenue is up 70% year-over-year for Warner Bros. Discovery, and the ascendence of the ad tier of Max is a big reason why.
By now, even those who don’t follow big media companies closely likely know that Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav is a man singularly focused on the bottom line. Zaslav’s two-year tenure as head of Wbd has been marked by numerous periods of frugality from the company, which is hardly surprising considering the 2022 merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery created a firm with more than $40 billion of debt. Content cuts became a part of life for the company’s streaming service that was known as HBO Max when Zaslav took over, and viewers lost access to everything from “Westworld” to episodes of “Sesame Street” as the company tried to slash its way to better financial standing. HBO Max first launched its ad-supported plan in 2021, but the...

The Killing Joke is one of those films that would have been a challenge to adapt. Despite the film being adapted into an animated feature, there was a lot of backlash about how the story was treated. Regardless, Bruce Timm had certain reservations about the adaptation from the beginning of production.

Timm revealed to Empire what his idea for the film was, and that pretty early on in the project, there was one aspect of the film that was set in stone from the very beginning. The film made a lot of changes from the source material, but this bit was to be kept as is, Bruce Timm revealed.

Jessica Lange is calling out the Hollywood film industry for prioritizing profits over creativity.
In an interview with Vulture, the topic of Warner Bros. Discovery shelving films as tax write-offs like Batgirl and Coyote vs. Acme came up. Lange said, “There should be a law against” such practices.
“We’re living in a corporate world, and it certainly has rolled over into the film industry,” she said in the interview. “So much of the industry now is not about the creative process. I mean, obviously this is not across the board, but there are many instances where I feel like the artistic impulse is overwhelmed by the corporate profit motive.”
She continued, “You look at some of the best films of the past year — what do they have in common? They’re not from America. My favorite was Anatomy of a Fall. How often do we get to see a film like that,...

Jessica Lange is calling out modern Hollywood for not valuing the “creative process” of filmmaking.
The “Feud” actress told Vulture that “artistic impulse” is squashed by the “corporate profit motive,” much like Warner Bros. Discovery canning almost-completed films like “Batgirl” and “Coyote vs. Acme” for tax write-off purposes. Of that in particular, Lange said, “There should be a law against it.”

David Zaslav, the boss of Warner Bros Discovery, has been praised for his “exceptional leadership” and given nearly $50m in 2023.
If you’re willing to be the kind of media boss willing to delete completed films as a tax write-off rather than release them? Well, it sure does pay the bills.
Just before the weekend, we learned that Warner Bros Discovery boss David Zaslav received $49.7m in remuneration in the year ending 2023. That’s an increase of 26.5 percent on the year before, and since he’s been in post in his job, he’s also benefitted from around $200m in stock option grants as well.
It’s an incredible reward for a CEO who’s overseen cost cutting throughout Warner Bros Discovery, apart from when it comes to his own salary. It’s under David Zaslav’s tenure that Warner Bros has earned a fresh and unwanted reputation for junking completed films,...

This ought to go over just fine on Twitter/X. Warner Bros. Discovery President and CEO David Zaslav’s executive compensation for 2023 was $49.7 million, according to a new filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission.
Here’s how the near-$50-million haul breaks down: Zaslav’s salary actually dipped a hair from 2022 to $3 million, his stock awards practically doubled to $23.1 million, and his non-equity incentive plan compensation stayed pretty steady at $22 million. Along with $1.6 million in the “other” category — pocket change, really — Zaslav’s 2023 compensation package was about 27 percent larger than his 2022 pay of $39.3 million.
Zaslav’s Discovery, Inc. merged with AT&T’s WarnerMedia on April 8, 2022. With a crazy options package revealed ahead of the closure, Zaslav’s estimated executive compensation for 2021 was $246.6 million — nearly $203 million of that from options. But here’s the rub: Options awards are not guaranteed, rather they are tied to the company’s stock price. If...

When we think of the antics of the Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote, there is one iconic image that comes to mind: Wile E. Coyote running full-steam after his nemesis, only to be outsmarted and finding himself running past a cliff’s edge, defying gravity by hovering in the air, nowhere to go but down. Only after the realization of doom does he fall. It’s a perfect metaphor for what happened with Warner Bros.’ abandoned Coyote vs. Acme movie, which the studio shelved last year as a tax write-off despite major hype. But could the movie actually emerge from the tunnel and see the light of day? Maybe, although we’d be as foolish as the coyote to believe it just yet.
