Fade In
The first episode of Ten Days In the Valley follows the life of Jane Sadler (Kyra Sedgwick.)
Mother to a young daughter called Lake, separated from her husband who she is involved in a custody battle. Her estranged husband Pete regularly breaks the custody arrangements.
Jane is also a producer and writer of a crime show which has a documentary like manner. She also has a drug habit, something she needs to do last minute rewrites in the middle of the night. The next morning she finds that Lake has disappeared. Maybe Pete has took her but when the police are called in, Pete denies that he has the daughter.
The set up is quick, there is an earnest performance from Sedgwick. The actor playing Pete is as broad as his Australian accent.
Something really did not click with me though. As this is a 10 episode series, it will get convoluted. However child abduction mysteries are common. Ignoring the Lifestyle movies of the week, this is certainly is nothing like the BBC's series The Missing which catches your attention from the first episode of a murky world.
