New channel. Same stumbling format
So here we go, after 5 underwhelming series on the BBC, 'The Voice' moves to ITV, who claim they can take a format that works everywhere else across the world but here into a hit.
Bringing back Tom Jones is a smart move, keeping Will I Am is a good one too, but bringing in two other coaches who aren't exactly big household names could prove its downfall. Yes, we may get to know and love them, but ITV need big ratings fast. Keeping Emma Willis on as host is also a divisive move, especially when you consider the wider range of options that ITV have at their disposal.
As for ITV's plans to change the format to make it better, but based on this first episode early stages these remain to be seen. The novelty of the spinning chairs is always there, the test will be how they maintain that interest in later rounds.
