Jackie Chan’s latest martial arts comedy “Ride On” wrapped shoots on Thursday. It is set to release next year.
Local media reports showed a teary-eyed Chan congratulating the crew on the successful production holding a bouquet of pink and orange flowers from director Larry Yang Zi, best known for his work on the 2019 heart-warming New Year’s Eve pet drama “Adoring” and the 2016 drama “Mountain Cry.”
The team celebrated with a huge cake with a large carrot sticking up from it for Chan’s horse co-star.
In “Ride On,” Chan, 67, plays a washed-up martial artist named Lao Luo who’s devoted to his old stunt horse Chitu, though Chitu suddenly may be taken away from him because of debt troubles. A heart-warming road trip then ensues when he asks his daughter (Liu Haocun of “Cliff Walkers”) and her boyfriend (Guo Qilin) for help. The story’s laughs center on...

With Australia quickly earning a reputation internationally as a safe shooting destination, the Nsw government has struck out with competitive bid to attract foreign production, pumping an additional $175 million towards the Made In Nsw fund.
This will see the government commit an extra $35 million per year over the next five years, on top of the $40 million already earmarked for 2020-21 through to 2022-23.
While the cash injection appears aimed at getting Hollywood’s attention, there is also welcome news for local producers in that it comes with some loosening of the fund’s criteria.
Managed by Screen Nsw, Made in Nsw previously only supported international footloose production and Australian high-end TV drama. However, it will now also support new local features.
In announcing the measure, to be outlined in next week’s state budget, Treasurer Dominic said: “Our strong and continued investment means we are in a position to attract...

Ever since France revised its tax rebate for international productions in 2016, local authorities have embarked on a full-court push to attract Chinese projects. In 2019, that campaign saw its most successful expression to date with the arrival of Middle Kingdom mega-production, “The Hunting.”
“In recent years, we’ve welcomed more and more Chinese projects, especially series, but ‘The Hunting’ is really the biggest, and most ambitious film to date,” says Stephan Bender, interim CEO of Film France. “It was a project we knew about since 2016, though it took a few years to put in place. When it did come together, it saw more days of shooting, and brought together more Chinese and French technicians than ever before, marking a real step forward for Chinese productions in France.”
Directed by Leo Zhang (“Bleeding Steel”) and starring acclaimed leading man Tony Leung, this Mandarin-language potboiler shot for nine weeks in the Paris region this past summer.

Tess Haubrich in ‘Bad Mothers’.
Tess Haubrich jumped at the chance to play a key role in Bad Mothers at very short notice after Jessica Marais was forced to withdraw for health reasons – not least because she had never worked with female directors.
Sian Davies, Catriona McKenzie and Geoff Bennett directed the Nine Network’s ensemble comedy-drama from Jungle Entertainment and Filthy Productions.
“It’s quite shocking that I had never worked on shows with female directors, except on short films,” says Haubrich, whose credits include Pine Gap, Wolf Creek 2, Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant, the Jackie Chan starrer Bleeding Steel and the Turner-Roache brothers Nekrotronic.
The Sydney-based actress was told one Friday night that she had won the role of Sarah in Bad Mothers and on the following Monday morning was in Melbourne for the start of two weeks pre-production.

With Venom still coursing through China, December is now heating up as a busy time at the Middle Kingdom box office — but, contrary to tradition, not necessarily for local films. Sony has just confirmed that sleeper hit Searching has secured a December 14 release, while anticipated animated family action adventure Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse will go on December 21.
Part of what’s seen as a push to keep turnstiles spinning in the face of a lackluster crop of homegrown titles, the above movies notably join Warner Bros’ Aquaman which releases December 7 — two weeks ahead of domestic and one week before the start of overseas rollout — and Universal/Illumination’s The Grinch (December 14). They will follow the upcoming releases of Disney’s Ralph Breaks The Internet (November 23) and WB’s Crazy Rich Asians (November 30).

Indefatigable Chinese action star Jackie Chan dodged a real-life natural disaster this week when a mudslide hit the production of his upcoming film “Project X.”
Chan said that filming was interrupted in the last few days when the weather changed and triggered a mudslide. Crew and equipment were caught in the landslip. “Our crew were caught in a massive mudslide! A few of our production trucks were stuck in the river of rushing mud,” Chan said on social media.
Nobody was seriously injured, though clearly some people were badly scared by the near-miss. Chan took to Facebook, Twitter, his own blog and Chinese social media to confirm the event and reassure fans that all were safe.
The film is produced by Chan’s Sparkle Roll Media and China’s Talent International. Few cast details have been revealed other than Chan himself and American former pro-wrestler John Cena.

Perfect World, the Chinese games and film conglomerate that is the co-financier of a slate of Universal Pictures movies, is raising $156 million (RMB1 billion) of fresh capital.
The company announced in a regulatory filing that it would sell up to 25 million shares in a private placing. The new capital would represent less than 20% of its existing share base, it said. Its shares were suspended from trading on the Shenzhen stock market ahead of the announcement.
The proceeds of the share sale will be used to increase its investments in film and television projects. It did not make any reference to its long term co-financing deal with Universal, nor to any specific projects.
Instead it explained that the Chinese film and TV industries have seen intensifying competition, with a growing emphasis being put on quality over quantity. That in turn is driving up costs. “The production cycle for high quality film and TV drama is lengthening,...

I’ve just watched the trailer for Jackie Chan’s new film Bleeding Steel, which appears to be about the actor rescuing his daughter after she’s been kidnapped by a Borg from Star Trek that lives in a Star Destroyer. His daughter also seems to have some kind of mechanical heart.
At one point, there’s even a big fight on top of the Sydney Opera House. A bunch of stuff blows up, too, and I’m not quite sure what it all means. What I do know is that even at 64 years of age and after multiple injuries and broken bones, Jackie Chan has still got the goods.
Directed by Leo Zhang, Lionsgate is describing the project as “reminiscent of 80s techno-sci-fi thrillers” – which certainly explains the very retro henchmen in biker helmets with generically sci-fi stuff glued onto the sides. The whole thing looks a bit like...

"The world's first super-bio warrior." Lionsgate Premiere has debuted a new official Us trailer for the a sci-fi action film from China titled Bleeding Steel, starring Jackie Chan as a hardened special forces agent protecting a young woman at all costs. We featured the first international trailer for this last year, and it already opened in China in December, only now arriving in Us theaters this July. The big sci-fi aspect seems to involve a special metallic heart implanted in Chan's character, along with big spaceships and futuristic biomech suits and more weird stuff thrown in. The full cast includes Tess Haubrich, Callan Mulvey, and Damien Garvey. Everything about this looks way too cheesy and over-the-top and absurd, of course. But maybe that's the kind of entertainment some of you are in the mood for now, an escape from the real world. Here's the new Us trailer (+ intl. posters) for Lijia Zhang's Bleeding Steel,...

An action, sci-fi, cyberpunk mashup that harkens back to the techno sci-fi films of the 80's like Robocop or The Vindicator, the film looks bananas bonkers in all the best ways.
Synopsis:
A special force agent is assigned to protect a scientist and his creation from a sinister gang.
Bleeding Steel is directed by Leo Zhang.
Lionsgate Premiere will release the film on July 6.

At 64-years-of-age, you've got to admit that Jackie Chan is doing pretty well for himself. He's without a doubt one of the most recognizable and influential stars to ever come out of Hong Kong, and he owns damn near every role he steps into. For one of his latest film projects, entitled Bleeding Steel, Chan plays a police inspector in modern Hong Kong, for a send-up to the techno sci-fi thrillers... Read More...

Maybe it’s just time to cancel all other movies coming out. Jackie Chan, older but no less badass than he was in his prime, is back to save the world from an immortal enemy in director Leo Zhang’s Bleeding Steel, an upcoming sci-fi/action film that I’ve already fallen completely in love with. Lionsgate is billing the film […]...

We've got a cool new trailer for you to watch for Jackie Chan's upcoming action-packed film Bleeding Steel, which supposed to be reminiscent of the '80s techno-sci-fi thrillers. The movie looks like it's a lot of fun! There are some really exciting and thrilling fight sequences teased in this trailer. It's crazy that Jackie Chan is still pulling this stuff off at his age! As long as he keeps making movies, though, I'll keep watching them!
Jackie Chan stars as Lin, a police inspector in modern Hong Kong. While tracking down a deranged, mecha-enhanced villain, Lin discovers that a geneticist's lost bio-chemical invention has been surgically implanted into his missing daughter. With the help of a young hacker, Lin connects the dots between the device that haunts his daughter, his enemy's sinister army, and a strange cultural phenomenon called "Bleeding Steel."

China kicked off the New Year with a massive $200m hit delivered by The Ex-File: The Return Of The Exes, but Star Wars: The Last Jedi opened soft.
Disney’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi was the first Hollywood blockbuster to arrive in 2018, but it was easily defeated by a large margin. Despite its worldwide success ($1.2bn worldwide so far), it took $30.9 from its three-day opening weekend, half of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and about 70% of Rogue One: A Star War Story which was released almost exactly one year ago.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi was the only new entry in the top 10 chart.
Instead The Ex-File 3 has become the first runaway success of 2018, garnering $167m in the first week (Jan 1-7). It’s almost on par with the second week earnings of last October’s National...

With almost overwhelming praise from Chinese audiences, Youth delivered a hat trick and added $51.3m. The bittersweet coming-of-age drama was exceptionally resilient as it bounced back to the second place on Sunday after dropping to the fifth on Friday. After 17 days, it has amassed $169.5m, making it the eighth highest grossing film in 2017. It has also overtaken 2013’s Personal Tailor to become Feng’s top grossing film.

It's been ten years since we last saw Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker kicking ass together as Lee and Carter in Rush Hour 3 and now it looks like Rush Hour 4 is prepping up for development. According to Jackie Chan, he has agreed to do it.
During a recent radio interview on L.A.'s Power 106 (via Deadline), Chan said:
“For the last seven years, we’ve been turning down the script, turning down the script. Yesterday, we just agreed.”
All three films were directed by Brett Ratner, but there's no word on if he'll be back for the fourth one. I assume that if it happens, he will direct it. I'm not the biggest fan of Ratner's work, but the Rush Hour franchise is probably his best work. He is set to direct the Hugh Hefner biopic with Jared Leto next. Tess Haubrich left a successful career as a model working with such haute couture labels as Jean Paul Gaultier, Vivienne Westwood and Celine even though she enjoyed the modeling industry immensely. She had always hope to act, and decided that she wanted her work acting to be taken seriously. Though she was once a newcomer with the role of Shandi in the soap opera Home and Away, she now has had the significant role of Private Rosenthal in blockbuster Alien: Covenant and Bleeding Steel; Jackie Chan’s new action comedy. Tess is a hometown girl from the suburb of Mona Vale

If you're a fan of Jackie Chan, today is our lucky day! We already posted a trailer for his sci-fi action film Bleeding Steel. Now we have a new trailer and wicked cool clip from his upcoming action revenge thriller The Foreigner. This movie looks incredibly good!
In the clip, we get to see Chan get in an awesome brutal fight with some bad dudes in the woods. As you'd imagine he lays the beat down on them. Then we have the new trailer which offers us some additional new footage from the film.
In the story, Chan takes on the Ira because his daughter was a victim of one of their terrorist attacks. It seems like one of the people who know who is responsible for that attack is Pierce Brosnan, and Chan has to compel him to talk to get the information that he's looking for.

Don't mess with Jackie Chan. Stx Entertainment has unveiled a new trailer, which is just one action scene, for the film The Foreigner, starring Jackie Chan in a serious role as a man who goes for revenge when the police do nothing. This scene was teased in the first trailer, but now we get to see it play out entirely as Chan is hunted by a group of mercenaries. This is Martin Campbell's latest film, director of GoldenEye, Casino Royale, Edge of Darkness; adapted from a book called "The Chinaman". He plays a father who tries to get revenge when his daughter is killed in an Ira bombing, leading him right up to the politicians. It also stars Pierce Brosnan, Charlie Murphy, Katie Leung, Simon Kunz, Rory Fleck Byrne, Stephen Hogan, Pippa Bennett-Warner, and Dermot Crowley. This looks so much better than Bleeding Steel. "Whatever purpose you have, this is worse than you imagine."
Whoa! Jackie Chan has made a crazy looking sci-fi action film called Bleeding Steel, and today we have the first trailer for you to watch! I wasn't aware of this film until now and it looks pretty freakin' awesome!
Chan plays a hardened special forces agent in the film who is protecting a young woman from being killed by a sinister criminal gang. At the same time, he also feels a special connection to the young woman, like they met before in a different life. It also seems as if Chan's character has a special steel heart that has been implanted into his body, which is where the title of the movie comes from.
The movie looks like it is filled with some fun sci-fi elements and some cool over-the-top action sequences. I've been a fan of Chan ever since...

"Whatever purpose you have, this is worse than you imagine." A new trailer has debuted for a sci-fi action film from China titled Bleeding Steel, which actually stars Jackie Chan as a hardened special forces agent protecting a young woman. The sci-fi element seems to involve a special metallic heart implanted in Chan's character, as far as I can tell. Which is, I guess, where the "Bleeding Steel" title comes from. The cast includes Tess Haubrich, Callan Mulvey, and Damien Garvey. This is one of those totally unbelievably wacky Chinese action movies that has almost everything thrown into it - including weird, hooded sci-fi-ish characters. There's even a fight on top of the Sydney Opera House. Why? I have no idea. Take a look below. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Lijia Zhang's Bleeding Steel, direct from YouTube: Jackie Chan stars in this action sci-fi thriller as a...

Company sells controlling interest to Vine and Falcon to fund growth of original and existing IP; ‘Matrix’ exploitation on the table.
Village Roadshow Entertainment Group (Vreg) is to develop a complementary business to its studio co-financing activities that will enable the company to initiate its own properties across multiple platforms.
The move comes as Vine Alternative Investments and Falcon Investment Advisors have taken a “controlling interest” and pledged ongoing commitment to Vreg’s Australian parent company Village Roadshow Limited, which remains a “significant” shareholder.
The move will enable Vreg to initiate and produce a broader range of content – the vision encompasses film, TV and digital at this stage – while remaining committed to the studio co-financing and co-producing business, where partners have included Warner Bros in the main, and Sony Pictures.
Vine CEO Jim Moore becomes chairman of Vreg, while Graham Burke, co-chairman and co-ceo of Vreg’s founding Australian parent company Village Roadshow Limited, continues as chairman...

Jackie Chan is set to star in a new action movie called Five Against A Bullet, which is being developed by Joe Carnahan. Carnahan is the absolutely crazy director that has brought us films such as Smokin' Aces, The A-Team, The Grey, and Stretch. The guy has a tendency to do some insane things in his movies, so the fact that Chan is teaming up with him for an action movie makes complete sense.
Carnahan has been working on this project since 2014, and the story is set in a small Mexican town that is under attack by a drug cartel. It follows five "world-weary bodyguards who are signed on to protect a Mexican politician after his father is murdered by a cartel, ahead of an election."
Jackie Chan is set to play one of these bodyguards, and there's no doubt we'll get to see him involved in some incredibly badass fight sequences and stunts.
