Sex & Nudity

  • In season 2, a woman is dressed in an outfit that reveals her cleavage, stomach, and hipbones. Some scenes cause an emphasis of the cleavage. No nudity is shown.
  • In season 2, the main characters are at an inn, when a female character implies that she wants to sleep with another character. The characters don't sleep together and the implications were only a joke.
  • In season 2, the main characters are at an inn and decide to take a bath. The two boys bath in the same pool while the girls are in a different room in their own bathing pool. The scene shows the guys in the bath, however, only their chests and stomachs are revealed. No nudity is shown. The scene then changes to the female characters in the bath. Cleavage is shown for both female characters. While no nudity is shown, the scene may make younger viewers uncomfortable.
  • This animation a lot of pyhsical touch like touching hand and kiss.
  • On a few occasions, male characters touch Shirayuki's hair somewhat suggestively. One does this and suggests that he will "enjoy" her company.
  • Two characters embrace behind closed doors, they end up just sitting and talking, nothing bad.
  • A few times (male) characters take off their shirts or a girl will hold up her dress where you can see her legs; nothing super revealing.
  • A few kisses, but nothing graphic (very Disney style).
  • One prince wants Shirayuki to be his concubine for her red hair.
  • A young lord wants to "keep" Shirayuki. His motives seem sexual at first but he promises that he only wanted to show her off so he can gain his status back.

Violence & Gore

  • Episode 8 is almost a complete departure from the tone of the previous episodes. There is a sword fight at the end that might scare young children; a character's face is splattered (the slightest bit) with blood. Other mild sword fights and fist fights. I would compare the violence in "Shirayuki" to the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series. There is some violence but there is very little gore shown or implied.

Profanity

  • A few damns, hells, and bastards. Language is PG at worst.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Characters got drunk at the bar.
  • The main character is an herbalist so she makes a lot of herbal mixtures, some of which can be used to paralyze or neutralize enemies.
  • The main character get drunk once, but this is for comedic purposes only.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The beginning (when the prince wants to force Shirayuki to be his concubine) is a little unsettling, but it's not any worse than something found in a Disney movie.

  • One character kidnaps Shiryuki in eps 2 and this can be a bit intense, this character shows up multiple times throughout the show and can make viewers uneasy.
  • Episode 8 would be frightening for young kids as mentioned before under "Violence and Gore". It is upsetting when the boy's friend dies in his arms.
