Italian paramilitary police raided hotel rooms used by employees of a catering company on “The Equalizer 3” on the Amalfi coast and arrested two caterers after seizing more than 100 grams of cocaine on Tuesday, according to local media.
Italian newspaper Il Giornale reported that Carabinieri cops broke into hotel rooms in the seaside resort of Maiori used by the “Equalizer 3” caterers after the head of the film’s catering service suddenly died of a heart attack on Monday evening. Several small packages of cocaine were subsequently found in the man’s clothing, raising suspicions that there could be more drugs on the production’s premises.
The police search yielded 120 grams of cocaine and led to two other members of the film’s catering vendor being placed under house arrest in the hotel on alleged drug dealing charges. A third employee of the catering company was found in possession of a...

Rob Lowe has cut quite a path through primetime during the 20-plus years since he joined “The West Wing.”
He turned down “Grey’s Anatomy,” but landed in the ensemble of “Parks and Recreation.” He sold a show about chasing Bigfoot with his sons to A&e Network. From 2003 to 2018 he was also a regular or recurring on series “Code Black,” “The Grinder,” “Californication,” “Brothers and Sisters,” “Dr. Vegas” and “The Lyon’s Den.” Then there was the scene-stealing turn as a plastic surgeon in 2013’s “Behind the Candelabra,” and roles in U.K. episodic series productions including 2005’s “Beach Girls,” 2015’s “You, Me and the Apocalypse” and 2019’s “Wild Bill.”
Last year, Lowe landed his biggest hit yet as a TV leading man when he moved into Ryan Murphy’s orbit as the star of Fox’s “9-1-1: Lone Star.” In the spinoff of the procedural about emergency responders, Lowe plays Owen Strand,...

Amazon’s purportedly billion-dollar-budgeted Lord of the Rings TV series will take place Long before the events of Peter Jackson’s movies. Setting the tone for this small screen return to the world of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, the first two episodes will be directed by J.A. Bayona, who helmed Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
The Lord of the Rings TV series is set during Middle Earth’s Second Age—that’s thousands of years before Bilbo Baggins, Gollum or Aragorn ever existed! Moreover, the end of said age was a full millennium before the Wizards even arrived in Middle Earth, which makes the series a prequel in an epochal sense.
Amazon hopes the new Lord of the Rings TV show will be the next Game of Thrones, evidenced by its early Season 2 order. While Covid-19 temporarily halted its New Zealand production back...

Diana Rigg, the Tony and Emmy winner who splashed into the world of television with her commanding turn as intelligence agent Emma Peel on “The Avengers” in the 1960s and played Lady Olenna Tyrell on “Game of Thrones” decades later, died Thursday at her home in England. She was 82.
Rigg was a venerable figure in Britain’s entertainment industry who worked incessantly on stage, TV and film. She famously thumbed her nose at convention in her private life and in later years seemed to enjoy her status as a grande dame.
“She was a beautiful kind and generous human being that enhanced the lives of all that knew her as well as a great actress. She leaves a great void in my heart,” said Lionel Larner, Rigg’s longtime friend and talent agent.
Having a key role in the biggest TV series of the past decade was a fitting career capper for Rigg.

Megyn Kelly has a new defender in her corner as she heads towards a potential exit at NBC: Catholic League president Bill Donahue.
Donahue called out what he perceived to be a double standard at NBC in a lengthy statement on Friday. “Megyn Kelly was obviously not dropped by NBC because all the executives and hosts who work there are opposed to bigotry,” he said. “In fact, many of them like it. Showtime has given a pilot production commitment to an adaptation of the British series “The Wrong Mans,” Variety has learned.
Based on the BBC series created by James Corden and Matthew Baynton, the half-hour single cam project is described as an action-comedy about two ordinary office workers who have their menial existence turned upside-down by a chance phone call and a case of mistaken identity: “If you are not here by 5 o’clock, we will kill your wife.” As the only people who can help, these two unlikely characters must find their inner hero in their quest to save not just themselves, but their loved ones and ultimately their whole town.
Ben Schwartz will star in one of the lead roles in addition to serving as producer. The role reunites Schwartz with Showtime, where he previously appeared in the series “House of Lies” alongside Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell for its entire five-season run.
