This is about as perfect as you can get as an episode 1 for a TV-Series. This episode really drags you in makes you want to know what will happen. A few new concepts have been added, the main one being the Koonie tribe. I suspect this was added for season two, or at least the equivalent for the light novels. This is a critical factor in setting up the story arc and works well. We end the episode fully understanding what the problem as and the start of the solution process, leaving with us wanting to know more. This is a good episode and achieves everything it set out to achieve.
