What happened with the Hungarian lady in the previous episodes was beautiful. There were wonderful moments there, where two people were giving each other all their love knowing for sure that it will come soon to an end, without any greediness and clinginess.
But with Pamela, it was just sad. Louie was depicted as a pathetic loser who is continuously trying to convince someone, who had explicitly stated several times that there is no chance in hell that something will happen between them, to like him. As much as I didn't like the way she degraded him, episode after episode, belittling him, making fun of his body, as if he is some disgusting peace of s**t, I didn't like also the way he acted almost like a predator and sometimes almost giving the impression that he was going to rape her. And we are supposed to consider this a happy ending? That was just sad.
Imagine the role reversed, some dude repeatedly making fun of a woman's body in her face, in front of her kids, and then they still end up together, thanks to her persistence. The media outcry would have been loud enough to get the show cancelled. But when it is a man being shamed, it is OK.
But may be it is all intentional. In beautiful episode earlier this season entitled "so did the fat lady", we were given a chillingly honest view of how dating looks like from a fat girl's perspective. Maybe all the episodes with Pamela is showing us how dating looks like for a fat guy. At least the girl has to rant about it and let off steam, while the guy seem to have to accept it and sort of bulldoze his way through the wall of resistance.
That being said, the acting was superb. I really hate Pamela now, which is a testement to how well she played her role.
