Neflix has unveiled the leading cast for its live-action Resident Evil series, with Lance Reddick set to star as Albert Wesker.
Also joining the John Wick and Bosch actor are Adeline Rudolph, Siena Agudong, Poala Nunez, Tamara Smart and Ella Balinska. Netflix revealed its leading cast in the gaming news-filled final day of its Geeked Week event.
The eight-episode drama series, inspired by Capcom’s hugely popular horror game franchise, hails from Supernatural executive producer/co-showrunner Andrew Dabb and produced by Constantin Film, which is behind the Resident Evil movie. The series will feature a new story across two timelines.
In the first timeline, fourteen-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker are moved to New Raccoon City. A manufactured, corporate town, forced on them right as adolescence is in full swing. But the more time they spend there, the more they come to realize that the town is more than it...

Photo: 'The Ultimate Playlist of Noise'/Hulu If you knew you only had one month left to hear the world, what would you do first? Throughout watching ‘The Ultimate Playlist of Noise’, I tried to answer this question for myself- Dua Lipa’s new album that I’ve been repeating for the past week, my mother telling me that she loves me, cherished videos of concerts, or endless hours of my friends talking about meaningless chatter? As I sit to write this, I’m still not sure that I have my final answer. It’s okay, however, because director Bennett Lasseter and writer Mitchell Winkie have done a far more eloquent job at this almost incomprehensible task by giving us the gift of ‘The Ultimate Playlist of Noise’. In early 2020, Journey frontman Arnel Pineda flew back to his native Manila after playing a corporate gig in Texas. He was gearing up for a big year in which Journey would cut their first new record since 2011’s Eclipse and play amphitheaters all over North America with the Pretenders.
The pandemic changed all that and he’s been in Manila ever since, but Journey still found a way to work remotely on the record. It’s their first full-length since parting ways with drummer Steve Smith and bassist Ross Valory.

Three years ago, Journey guitarist Neal Schon finished a solo album of instrumental tracks that mixed classic-rock covers like “Hey Jude” and “Voodoo Child” with originals he created with producer-drummer Narada Michael Walden. Since that time, Journey fired drummer Steve Smith and bassist Ross Valory after a bitter business dispute, brought in Walden and Raised on Radio–era bassist Randy Jackson to take their places, and canceled a 2020 summer tour with the Pretenders due to the pandemic.

This Doctor Who review contains spoilers. Our spoiler-free preview is here.
It may be the start of a brand new year, but ‘Revolution of the Daleks’, an episode of Doctor Who that’ll need to tide us over for a while, is more focused on looking back and taking stock than teasing what’s ahead. As the pre-title sequence informs us, courtesy of some Big Chunky Captions that the show currently favours, not only is this episode a follow-up to the events of ‘The Timeless Child’, it’s also a sequel of sorts to the 2019 New Year’s Special, ‘Resolution’.
Things pick up a few short hours after that adventure, which saw a buried Dalek mutant hijacking a human host and eventually constructing a scrapyard casing. It’s the abandoned husk of that same travel machine that now gets carted away by an unwitting driver, a man who’s so...

Costume designer Michael Wilkinson is the mastermind behind the looks in “Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey,” a period musical that’s now streaming on Netflix. The idea, Wilkinson says of the holiday movie, was to design something viewers hadn’t seen before while paying homage to beloved titles such as “Mary Poppins.”
Directed by David Talbert, the film tells a magical story with a diverse cast including Forest Whitaker and Phylicia Rashad. Wilkinson says he infused the story with bold choices while aiming for a “fusion of 19th-century Victorian-era silhouettes with African culture” both by looking at historic photographs and merging them with bold, colorful patterned textiles from West Africa.
Wilkinson broke down some key looks from “Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey.”
Phylicia Rashad – A Majestic Character
“David was keen for us to create something that audiences hadn’t seen before. So that was kind of my M.O from the start.

Steve Perry believes that any great song should be able to withstand a campfire test. “You take any song and sit near a campfire with an acoustic guitar and sing it, the song should be able to survive,” says the former Journey frontman. “It should work just as a melody with lyrics. If the vocal is strong enough to stand on its own, you’ll know it right away.”

Rumors of a Van Halen super tour with both David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar fronting the band circulated frequently during the past few years, often egged on by Hagar himself. But it wasn’t until after Eddie Van Halen died that the world learned that the trek was actually in the planning stages just about two years ago.

Netflix’s festive fantasy about a kid and her inventor granddad is pure infectious energy – and with exquisite detail
Christmas is coming. And if anyone is not convinced it’s the most wonderful time of the year, here’s an excessively Christmassy Victorian-set musical on Netflix to batter you into good cheer. In many ways, Jingle Jangle feels like a fairly boilerplate family movie (think Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or Willy Wonka) but with one big difference: the characters are mostly black. There’s a brilliant scene where a group of children have a snowball fight on a Dickensian cobbled street. Their ringleader is brainiac child genius Journey (Madalen Mills), a 10-year-old girl. As the kids pelt each other with snowballs, a song by Ghanaian singer Bisa Kdei plays, and Journey and her friends break into African dance moves. Their ethnicity is not the point of their characters or of the scene,...

At the far edge of a cursed world, a pale Hunter — the last of her kind — sails to the island that bridges the human realm on earth with the spirit realm above. She arrives on the beaches of this nameless place determined to reach the magma-encrusted pyramid that juts down from the sky (a slash of “Neon Genesis Evangelion” in a game that otherwise sports a more rustic storybook vibe), and kill the three-eyed Godslayer who shadowed the land in darkness; the neglected skeletons she finds strewn about the grass suggest that our Hunter isn’t the first to try. None of the others came back, and the clues they’ve left behind with their dying breaths aren’t much help when it comes to navigating an open world that offers only one direction: up.

Like a gorgeously decorated tree with a few too many presents stuffed under it, “Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey” is excessive but never unwelcome. An ambitious original musical packed to the gills with visual delights, it’s the kind of Christmas movie that can charm adults into looking past its flaws while turning delighted children into lifelong fans.
On the heels of his charming ensemble comedy “Almost Christmas,” writer-director David E. Talbert fearlessly marries whimsy and steampunk, sentimentality and science fiction, with big musical numbers composed by Philip Lawrence, Davy Nathan and Michael Diskint, plus one from John Legend (who executive produced the film). That this big, bright Netflix extravaganza features a principally Black cast is not insignificant in the history of cinema, particularly in the history of large-scale family musicals and of Christmas movies.

After dubbing himself ‘Franchise Viagra’ roughly a decade ago – and rightfully so – thanks to his ability to increase the box office returns of Fast and Furious, Journey and G.I. It's time to suit up and grab your favorite zombie-killing weapon as Netflix is heading to New Raccoon City. On Aug. 27, the streaming service confirmed via Twitter that they're turning the Resident Evil video game into a live-action series. Unlike the films, which followed the game's protagonist Alice (played by Milla Jovovich), the eight-episode series will focus on an entirely new story about the daughters of game-antagonist Albert Wesker. If you're worried about the show capturing the essence of the game, don't worry; it'll be helmed by former Supernatural showrunner Andrew Dabb.
"I'm incredibly excited to tell a new chapter in this amazing story and bring the first ever Resident Evil series to Netflix," Dabb said in a statement to Variety. "For every type of Resident Evil fan, including those joining us for the first time, the series will be complete with a lot of old friends, and some things people have never seen before.

Netflix’s home of all things geek – hey! just like Wamg – confirmed today that a scripted live action series inspired by Capcom’s massive Resident Evil franchise is coming to Netflix.
Building on one of the most popular, best selling survival horror video games of all time, Resident Evil will tell a brand new story across two timelines:
In the first timeline, fourteen-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker are moved to New Raccoon City. A manufactured, corporate town, forced on them right as adolescence is in full swing. But the more time they spend there, the more they come to realize that the town is more than it seems and their father may be concealing dark secrets. Secrets that could destroy the world.
Cut to the second timeline, well over a decade into the future: there are less than fifteen million people left on Earth. And more than six billion...

The alternate take of “Dynamite” doesn’t move outside the colorful world of the original video, just offers some alternate angles as well as silly bloopers featuring the boy band goofing off on set. According to a statement on the video, “Viewers are able to see Bts in action,...

Exclusive: A staffer from The Bold and the Beautiful production company Bell-Phillip Television tested positive for Covid-19 three and a half weeks ago, sources told Deadline. As a precaution, the studio moved up the show’s dark week for that month and added a second dark week, I hear. (The Bold and the Beautiful is dark — or not in production — for one week each month.)
I hear that after the break, the daytime drama returned to production at Television City and has been taping since. The Bold and the Beautiful‘s broadcast schedule is not being affected.
As Deadline reported last night, three staffers at Television City in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles had tested positive for Covid-19 as revealed by the LA County Department of Public Health in its daily release of pandemic data.

The latest free game available to all Twitch Prime members has just been made available, though you’ve probably never heard of it. Despite it generating ample buzz leading up to release due to some eye-catching visuals and a unique gameplay hook, Tokyo-based studio Friend & Foe’s Vane received little fanfare when it quietly slipped onto Sony’s PlayStation Store and Steam last year.
Clearly inspired by acclaimed indie adventures such as Journey and Inside, Vane takes place in a ruined desert, home to a free-spirited bird transformed into human form by a “strange golden dust.” Players are able to switch between the unnamed entity’s avian and human forms in order to forge a path through Vane‘s world and uncover its secrets, directly affecting the surrounding environment in the process.

Blizzard has confirmed that Diablo 3‘s Season 21 update (which is formally known as Trials of Tempest) will begin on July 3.
Diablo 3‘s Trials of Tempest update is highlighted by a fascinating new elemental system. Every 90 seconds, your character will channel a variety of random elemental effects. The effects revealed thus far include a rain of meteors, lighting breath, a wall of flames, energy tornadoes, and a devastating snowstorm. The exact functionality of these effects remain a bit of a mystery, but the popular theory is that they’ll be variations of existing, similar spells.
Blizzard has also outlined some of the new challenges of this season, which includes a race to “complete the entire Diablo III campaign from Act I to Act V at level 70 in under 1 hour.” Additional challenges include completing a “50 million gold streak outside of The Vault or its Inner Sanctum,” “completion of a Greater Rift level...

I remember reactions were mixed when it was announced and all new Invisible Man would be making it’s way to the big screen via Universal and Blumhouse and with Leigh Whannell as director. I was feeling positive however. Blumhouse bought back Halloween to a modern audience and created a great new horror movie, while Whannell’s Upgrade was one of the surprises of 2018, with excellent action sequences and great camera-work. Which meant I was very much looking forward to The Invisible Man.

Even though The Last of Us Part 2 was only recently released, fans are already talking about The Last of Us Part 3. To be fair, they’re not alone. Naughty Dog was also talking about a potential sequel to The Last of Us shortly ahead of Part 2‘s official release.
In a recent interview, The Last of Us Part 2 creative director Neil Druckmann stated that Naughty Dog isn’t ruling out the possibility that The Last of Us Part 3 could be the next game they make, but at the moment, they don’t seem to have formally decided what their next major project will be. For instance, it was also suggested that they could choose to work on a new IP. Ultimately, though, the studio has indicated that they intend to focus on whatever the best idea may be.

Bill & Ted will face the music sooner than everyone thought. The long-awaited sci-fi comedy franchise threequel, titled Bill & Ted Face the Music, experienced a circuitous process in getting made, eventually setting a release date that serendipitously avoided the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, auspiciously enough, said release has been shifted to an earlier date.
Bill & Ted Face the Music is now set to air-guitar and time-travel its way to theaters on August 14, one week earlier than its previous August 21 release date, reports Deadline. The move occurs over a year after the March 2019 announcement of the Orion and United Artists-distributed film’s original release date, which was made well before the array of horrors that would come to define 2020—specifically the coronavirus release date delays—were known.

The Voice on Monday began the ending of a season of firsts: its first with a Final Five instead of a Final Four; its first with pandemic-necessitated remote performances; its first with a swivel chair for Nick Jonas (and his oh-so-helpful Nick’s Notes); its first, at least that I can remember, with Kelly Clarkson Wine Goblets; its first with the coaches making one boneheaded move (John Legend dropping Thunderstorm Artis from his team) after another (Cedrice and not Tayler Green being stolen during the Knockouts)…

While Margie made it to Hollywood again, it was her accompanist who really made the judges swoon. Now West is one of seven artists in the running to become the Season 18 winner.

The latest free games for all PlayStation Plus subscribers are now available to download and play, though they’re an odd bunch, to say the least.
Confirming the titles that would be included as part of the subscription service throughout the month of May last week, Sony has received a great deal of pushback from PlayStation 4 owners over the last few days due to dissatisfaction with those chosen. As simulation games, both Cities: Skylines and Farming Simulator 19 have a niche appeal at best and certainly offer no genre variety for gamers hoping to at least have a choice between two markedly different experiences.
Such criticisms appear to have fallen on deaf ears, however, as the platform holder has today confirmed an unchanged line-up over on Twitter. Starting today, those with a passion for digital farming and or city-building can download both free of charge for the next 30 days or so.

Sunday’s episode, the show’s second at-home broadcast, narrowed down the Season 18 pack, eliminating nearly half of the remaining competitors. Earlier this week, Sony announced their two free PlayStation Plus games for May, and they’re an admittedly unusual duo. Farming Simulator 19 and Cities: Skylines are both simulation games, appealing only to a niche group of gamers and leaving a lot of the remaining PlayStation 4 user base feeling severely discouraged. Now, some of them have started a petition on Change.org to fight for a change in May’s collection.
The disappointment in this month’s game selection is only exacerbated by the fact that rumors circulated the week prior to the announcement that indicated folks could get their hands on Dark Souls: Remastered and Dying Light in May. Despite Dark Souls‘ hardcore challenge and Dying Light‘s zombie parkour gameplay being rather unique, both games would’ve appealed to a much broader audience than the titles Sony ultimately chose.
To be fair, the rumor was just that – a rumor.

Rumors from a few days ago indicated that May’s PlayStation Plus titles might end up being Dying Light and Dark Souls: Remastered, which would’ve served as one hell of a month for gamers. The former would’ve been a great addition for open world and survival horror fans, while the latter’s immensely challenging but deeply rewarding combat would’ve kept folks busy for a very long time. Today, however, Sony has officially announced next month’s offerings, and a lot of subscribers are likely to be pretty disappointed in the selection.
Two very passive games – Farming Simulator 19 and Cities: Skylines – will be May’s free PlayStation Plus content. While these titles are sure to excite a niche of gamers who thoroughly enjoy their laidback nature, those who were hoping for something more substantial to dig into during this worldwide quarantine may find themselves a bit frustrated by the choices.
