It seems like shows of this ilk turn to the award show episode too often, that is a weird cliche, so I liked the reveal that it was all an act by a daughter trying to make her father happy and not real.
Brad Garrett playing the kind of father character he dealt with on Everybody Loves Raymond feels full circle for him, but so far his addition to the cast has worked.
I just think the writing for the show feels a little weak and they need to turn to some more simplistic humor and deeper character dives. The writer's room does not feel like it has people who understand old school comedy and why it works.
