The prisoners Keko, Stulle, Pepsi and Barro rob a bank. When Pepsi accidentally kills a security guard they are forced to take hostages. The policewoman Billy enters the scene to negotiate with their leader Keko.
While Barro loses his nerves inside the bank, the SEK appears outside. Keko orders for armored escape vehicles. Pepsi who was shot by the security guard realizes he may not leave the bank alive.
Keko asks for an old acquaintance named Schweinebacke to take over the negotiations. Schweinebacke makes it clear to Billy who is the boss. Barro completely blows a fuse inside the bank.
After Barro killed one of the hostages, Kongo attacks him. Schweinebacke delivers food and drugs to them. Billy already positions some snipers when suddenly somebody appears on the scene to play soccer with Keko.
Kongo gives up. But the other robbers stay strong - although Pepsi loses more and more blood. When the branch manager takes the hostage-takers side, Barro's mother appears outside of the bank and wants to talk to her son.
Keko manages to get an old friend named Knochen inside the bank to help them opening the safe deposit boxes. But when he starts stealing from them the situation escalates. When Pepsi dies, the "brothers" hold an eulogy outside of the bank.
Keko orders burkas for everyone and six taxis to escape the bank. To prevent further bloodshed, Schweinebacke orders to not pursue them. When the gangsters get together at their meeting point, Billy realizes that someone fooled everybody.
