Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not watched “The Kissing Booth 3,” out now on Netflix.
For “Kissing Booth 3” star Joey King, it was imperative that the last installment end the effervescent Elle Evans’ story in a way that was “just right.” Luckily, as an executive producer on the Netflix rom-com, King got her say.
“Finding the right way to do the send-off and figuring out what was best for the final edit was probably the heaviest area that I was involved in,” King tells Variety of her EP duties. “That was very exciting for me, because I just want to make sure that for me, for all the filmmakers and for all the fans, that our send-off was just right. I really hope they feel that way.”
But, that doesn’t mean that the conclusion is predictable. In fact, the finals scenes of “Kissing Booth 3” play out...

With this year’s edition of the SXSW cancelled in the wake of concerns about the growing coronavirus outbreak, hundreds of projects are suddenly left without a venue. That includes dozens of anticipated films from filmmakers both established and just starting out, from world premieres helmed by Oscar winners to first-time features made by creators barely out of college.
While the festival won’t come to Austin this year, IndieWire will continue to cover the film festival and its many selections, including a number of films that were initially expected to bow at the event. In industry parlance, a “curtainraiser” provides an overview of the offerings we can’t wait to check out; the literal curtain won’t rise on SXSW this year, but there are still a plenty of features from the lineup worthy of anticipation, however they get out into the world.

2016 was chock-full of big blockbuster releases, many of which either failed to make a sizable profit or were incredibly divisive among audiences. But out of the ashes rose a beautiful flower: the indie film. Yes, independent movies had a wonderful year, some even breaking per-theater records and making their way onto my favorites of 2016 list, which also includes a Denis Villeneuve film, a comic book series, collectibles, an excellent comprehensive horror documentary, and more.
Arrival: Denis Villeneuve's Arrival is a beautiful take on language and how communication (or the lack of proper communication) can either doom or ensure our survival as human beings on this planet. The way Villeneuve tells a story is the perfect fit for a film like Arrival because its focus is small but the ideas are big, much like his previous works, Enemy, Sicario, and Prisoners.
My hope is that the takeaway from Arrival...

Earlier this year, IndieWire’s own Ben Travers described Hulu’s original series “The Path” as the “first great drama of 2016.” Starring Aaron Paul (“Breaking Bad”), Michelle Monaghan (“True Detective”) and Hugh Dancy (“Hannibal”), the show follows members of a fictional religion known as Meyerism, a controversial cult masking as a new age spiritual movement, and their struggles with faith, doubt and danger. Now, the show will soon return for a second season this January and the psychological tension between everyone has only increased. Watch an exclusive trailer for the new season below as well as some first look photos.

The Path Review: Stellar Cast Will Strengthen Your Belief in Hulu's Deliberate, Intriguing New Drama
Ambiguity may not be the end goal of most religions, but it’s the cornerstone of Hulu’s new drama series The Path, a meditative examination of a fast-growing cult (or is it merely a movement?) and its ambitious, sometimes menacing leader.
Hannibal‘s Hugh Dancy stars as Cal Robertson, head of East Coast operations for the Meyerist Movement and heir apparent to its founder Stephen Meyer, who is secretly/rapidly dying of untreatable cancer in a compound in Peru.

"Dallas" is starting its new season in a way it never has before, in either its initial or current versions ... without J.R. Ewing.
The iconic character's death echoed the passing of his portrayer, Larry Hagman, but both their shadows continued to loom large over the rest of Season 2 of the TNT reboot. The legacy of J.R. remains a big factor as the third season starts Monday, Feb. 24, even as others try to fill his shoes and new characters pose fresh complications for the residents of Southfork Ranch. And their allies. And their enemies.

We've been talking about it for months, kids, but the time has finally come to take a look at the Billy Zane, Mischa Barton, Felissa Rose, Dee Wallace zombie film Zombie Killers: Elephant's Graveyard.
Director Harrison Smith (Dead.tv, soon to be known as Camp Dread) is getting set to release the first zombie film connected to the controversial fracking industry. With visual special effects by Lord of the Rings' Joe Lawson, makeup effects by Angie Johnson of Evolution, and creature effects by "The Walking Dead" artist Toby Sells, the film takes on an American Western flavor that focuses on heavy action and detailed characters.

A few weeks ago we showed you a 30 second cut of a Doritos Crash the Super Bowl ad entry written and produced by The Lane Twins and starring fabulous gay fireplug Leslie Jordan. They’ve just released an extended cut of their video and we thought it deserved sharing.

The procession of Australian actors trying their luck in Hollywood continues with Nikolai Nikolaeff and Damien Bodie the latest to secure Us management.
Nikolaeff has signed with The Schiff Company, which represents A-list talent including Keira Knightley, Eminem, Helena Bonham Carter, Jeff Bridges, Dougray Scott and Dylan McDermott. Bodie signed with Genesis Entertainment Partners.
Both are represented in Australia by Aran Michael Management. Michael, who takes talent to the Us several times a year, introduced both actors to the management companies.
Unlike some Aussies who try to break into Hollywood early in their careers, Nikolaeff and Bodie have extensive resumes. This year Nikolaeff co-starred with Rachel Griffiths and Rodger Corser in Camp, the NBC summer series that was shot in northern Nsw, produced by Matchbox Pictures, Universal Studios and Berman-Braun.
Nikolaeff played the love interest of Griffiths' character, who vied with Corser for her affections. The series will air here on Seven during the summer.

A bit later than anticipated, "Dallas" still will restart all the usual drama at Southfork reasonably early in the new year.
Season 3 of the TNT reboot will begin Monday, Feb. 24 -- marking the first time in the history of the franchise, including the original 1978-91 CBS run -- that a year of the serial will begin without J.R. That doesn't mean there still isn't enough scheming to go around, though. The sons of J.R. and Bobby (Patrick Duffy), John Ross (Josh Henderson) and Christopher (Jesse Metcalfe), remain at odds with each other -- reinforced by their romances with the woman who's now an ex of both of them, Elena (Jordana Brewster).

Glenn here again. Last night I saw the new Australian horror flick, Patrick (a remake of the 1978 classic), and relished in seeing Rachel Griffiths again on the big screen. She was, however, very stern as nurse matron who's hiding secrets about the coma patient in room 15.
She will soon be on screens all over the world, albeit briefly, as the inspiration for "Mary Poppins". Again, very stern.
And now I read that the one and only Brenda Chenowith will be starring in an Australian TV movie about embattled former Prime Minister, and first female leader, Julia Gillard. The casting is actually incredibly smart since they both have very tightly pointed facial features. Still, given everything Gillard went through in her tenure you can be guaranteed that she'll be, you guessed it, stern. And knitting. Stern and knitting (Australian readers will understand that).
Griffiths has always excelled at prickliness both on and off the screen?...
