Ready or Not was a deliciously twisted play on the concept of meeting the family of one’s fiancée. Samara Waving plays a young woman who is invited on the night of her wedding by her new husband’s rich, eccentric family to participate in a time-honored tradition that turns into a lethal game with everyone fighting for their survival. The horror comedy also starred Adam Brody, Mark O’Brien, Elyse Levesque, Henry Czerny, and Andie MacDowell and was directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who have gone on to direct Scream (2022) and Scream VI.
Ready or Not was written by Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy. However, Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett are currently involved with a new Universal Monsters project, so they will not be returning for Ready or Not 2. Instead, ComingSoon.net reports that Escape Room director Adam Robitel will be taking the reins for the sequel. The scoop comes from industry source,...

It’s a fairly big month on Prime Video in March, at least compared to the other streaming service offerings! There are are two major films arriving on Amazon’s streamer. The first is a remake of the Patrick Swayze action classic Road House. Stepping into the late Swayze’s shoes? A crazy-jacked Jake Gyllenhaal, who really seemed to want to go the extra mile for this project.
The other big film coming to Prime Video is Ricky Stanicky, and the plot sounds really fun! It follows three friends who have always blamed their mistakes on an imaginary guy called Ricky Stanicky. When they have to finally introduce people to Stanicky, they decide to hire a washed-up actor (John Cena) to impersonate him. Hilarity ensues, maybe? But if neither of those make your watchlist, there’s also the return of the animated hit series Invincible.

Producer Jason Blum had said the Paranormal Activity franchise went dormant for a while after the release of 2015’s Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension because he felt the series had gotten tired – and it wasn’t his idea to make Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin, a failed attempt at a revival (that he described as “terrible”), back in 2021. He has been open about the fact that he feels there has been “enough already” when it comes to Paranormal Activity movies. But that doesn’t mean the franchise can’t continue in other ways. A few months back, we heard there’s a stage play in development, and now Variety has broken the news that a Paranormal Activity video game will be released in 2026!

Those influences extend to music, and we’ve got a treat for you this afternoon with a brand new clip channeling Meatloaf’s hit song “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That)”… in the form of a hilarious dream sequence from the film.

According to THR, the Paranormal Activity franchise is set to become a stage play. I can’t say I saw that one coming.
Simon Friend, who commissioned the Life of Pi stage play, picked up the license to Paranormal Activity and is seeking to bring it to the West End. Grey House scribe Levi Holloway has signed on to write the play, but the project is still in early development at this time. Although I wouldn’t necessarily call myself a fan of the franchise, I’ve got to admit that I’m a little curious about how they plan to adapt the found-footage story to the stage.
The original Paranormal Activity movie was written and directed by Oren Peli and followed Katie and Micah, a young couple who have recently moved to a new house and are being terrorized by a demon that has stalked Katie since childhood. The...

You’ve seen “Onyx The Fortuitous” on Youtube where he hijacks news reports with his odd personality and motormouth. Now he is coming to the big screen with his full-length feature Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls, written, directed and starring Andrew Bowser, based on his internet-famous character also known as the “Weird Satanist Guy.” After a successful crowdfunding campaign to finance part of the production, the throwback horror comedy has been shown at Sundance, Glasgow FrightFest, and more recently, Fantasia Film Fest.

At the movies, I don’t scare easily, but the “Paranormal Activity” films have usually found a way to get under my skin, at least for a few moments. They’ve been coming out since 2007, and in all that time they’ve turned into their own genre, with its own tropes and shivers. But the forces behind the series — led by the independent horror mogul Jason Blum, who “Paranormal Activity” first put on the map —must have realized, around the time of “Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension” (2015), that the series was starting to run on fumes. It had become a fear franchise of diminishing returns (creatively and at the box office), and that’s why “The Ghost Dimension” was presented as the final film in the series.
You knew they couldn’t stick to that. But “Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin,” which is the seventh “Paranormal Activity” film and the first in six years,...

While the No. 1 exhibitor AMC has traditionally been flexible about theatrical windows despite their pubic uproar against Universal last year, the chain’s CEO Adam Aron speculated today what the landscape would look like when we come out of this pandemic.
“What we learned from the Universal agreement, is that every studio seems to have different desires and needs. I’m expecting there will be custom agreements that will be developed studio by studio, and differ circuit by circuit,” said Aron speaking to how the majors are varying their distribution patterns for movies.
Aron’s comments come in the wake of Disney CEO Bob Chapek’s remarks on March 1 at a Morgan Stanley conference where he exclaimed “I’m not sure there’s going back” in regards to the way movies were released. Chapek did cover his bases by also saying, “But we certainly don’t want to do anything...

Exclusive: New Line won an auction for Classified, a pitch that has Chad Stahelski attached to direct. Stahelski, who starts his fourth John Wick film imminently, will produce with his 87Eleven Entertainment cohorts Jason Spitz and Alex Young, and Trevor Engelson through his Underground banner. The producing deals are being finalized.
Andrew Deutschman and Jason Pagan have cooked up a premise that sits right in Stahelski’s wheelhouse. The project is a high octane thriller that was shopped as Die Hard meets Indiana Jones. It is set inside a top secret government bunker, the kind that ends Raiders of the Lost Ark. That bunker contains relics covertly recovered during World War II, and they turn out to be more powerful and dangerous than ever imagined.
Aside from John Wick 4, Stahelski is currently in development on a reboot of the cult classic Highlander.

Last summer it was announced that Paramount and Blumhouse are returning to the Paranormal Activity franchise with a seventh installment in the franchise, and you can now mark your calendars (and presumably get ready for more hellish nights of sleep), as the film has been given a new 2022 release date.
According to Bloody Disgusting (whose post was shared on the official Paranormal Activity Twitter account), the next Paranormal Activity movie is now slated for a March 4th, 2022 release, pushing it back nearly a year from its previous March 19th, 2021 release.
In the 2000s and 2010s, Paramount and Blumhouse teamed up for six Paranormal Activity movies that brought found footage scares to a whole new generation. The last of those six films was Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension in 2015.

The hope for NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell in the studio’s new unprecedented 17-day theatrical window collapse-pvod deal with AMC Theatres is to make more money in the post theatrical windows which have waned in recent years.
“Movies are our lifeblood,” said the NBCUniversal pro-pvod exec, “Over the last couple of years, it’s become more increasingly difficult to generate the same returns over the first couple of windows. We believe the new model in the U.S. will restore some of those economics, probably not make more movies, but keep production levels the same as in the past.”

Exclusive: Those in town assuming that one of the other big exhibition circuits will fall in line with AMC and seek their own 17-day theatrical window-pvod deal with Universal will soon realize that it will be a cold day in hell.

Paranormal Activity is a tiny movie that had a huge impact on the entertainment industry. Not only did it become one of the most profitable films in Hollywood history after making almost $200 million on a $350,000 budget and help popularize the found footage genre, but it was a major early success for Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions. They’ve since gone on to shape the world of modern horror cinema, the highlight of all this being the incredible Get Out.
Despite that success, though, the franchise has been dormant since 2015’s Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension. Last year, however, we began to hear that a new entry in the series was being developed and now, Blum has been opening up about it a bit and said he’d love to bring back series star Katie Featherston for the pic.

Not to deflate the rousing round robin of mudslinging between AMC, Cineworld and Universal, but this whole Omg melee between exhibition and studios over Pvod, theatrical-window crunching and hurt feelings is poised to calm down soon.

Paramount's Sonic the Hedgehog looks to keep things rolling this weekend as it faces incoming competition from 20th Century's The Call of the Wild and Stx's Brahms: The Boy II. Sonic will have no trouble holding on to the top spot following its strong start last weekend as it looks to top $110 million after just ten days in release.
Following a massive start last weekend, accompanied by solid critical reviews and audience response, Paramount's Sonic the Hedgehog is looking at a another weekend atop the box office. Paranormal Activity redefined the found footage genre and the horror industry as a whole when the first installment was released back in 2009. Since then, audiences have been treated to five more terrifying films in the iconic franchise. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to watch a new movie set in that disturbing universe since 2015, but earlier this year, Paramount and Blumhouse announced that they’d be teaming up to produce a seventh feature in the series and now it appears that we finally have a release date set.
The currently unnamed flick will hit theaters on March 19th, 2021. As of right now, there are no details regarding the film, which makes it even more enticing. Nevertheless, we’re more than curious to see what spooky happenings are going on this time around.
Four years ago, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension was marketed as the final chapter in the titular universe.
