Really solid episode
JohnIRTMAN27 September 2022
This episode really gives me hope for the rest of the season. As usual the season premiere was great, and then after that there was a bit of a decline. I liked the A plot of the second episode, but the Die Hard plotline just didn't do it for me. The third episode had some funny moments, but there wasn't a very strong story to support it. Usually, Rick and Morty gives clever sci-fi stories, and I felt the third episode to be lacking in that. This episode, however, was (in my opinion) the funniest of the season so far, and the best conceptually. The tone was fresh and nearly all the jokes landed. If the season is able to keep up this quality, I think it would rank up there with the first 3 seasons.

Severance X Rick and Morty
kadenkgcampbell26 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was awesome. I'm time after time, week after week in awe of their creativity and endless new huge ideas. It's insane how spectacular this show is to this day nearly a decade later.

If you've watched Severance, then you'll see how this episode and the show are similar. I'm not accusing either of copying by the way. The concept of having two versions of yourself, one enjoying the joy and fruits of life and the other slaving away doing the dirty work of the original. It's an amazing concept because it's basically treating a version of yourself less than. When the "work version" of you retaliates, you finally suffer the consequences of your actions.

Great episode.

Finally an Episode That Felt Like Old Rick and Morty!
navodwijerulz26 September 2022
Wow really felt like a First 3 Season Episode Again! More of this please! Real (Old R & M) Personalities with believable dialogues! No more out-of-character-random-stuff-saying cartoon characters! R & M was a lot more! Since they were given 70 episodes, the story has been poor - character wise and story wise etc. Few good episodes here and there (hopefully this isn't one of those - and continuity happens with characters). Justin & Dan - Care about rick and morty again! It's not about money! R & M could have gone down in history - but season 4 & 5 wasn't it - Adults are your main focus right - no more fever dreams please! Give Me Old Rick and Morty Back!!!

What a great episode
dyl-chuck26 September 2022
This episode was sure original. If anything it reminded me of "Rick and morty" combined with the movie "us". There were gags that had me laughing harder than I have in all of season 5 of Rick and morty, in fact this episode feels like an episode that would have been released in seasons 1-3. This episode has so far been my favourite yet of the ones released in season 6, and I hope to see more like it. This episode is about Rick who buys an invention where he can make himself do stuff while sleeping, and later gets the whole smith family invested. Justin Rolland and Dan Harmon make the episode work phenomenally with their creative imaginations.

Another Absolute Banger
benmaster-7105527 September 2022
I was pretty excited for this episode going into it. The teasers for the episode were very interesting and showed off a darker tone than usual. My expectations for this episode were high, and they were very easily surpassed. The only reason I'm not giving this episode a 10/10 is because I save scores like that for the true cream of the crop. However, Night Family is easily one of the best one-off episodes they've ever done. The animation and soundtrack in this episode is absolutely gorgeous and beyond belief. Rick and Morty has actually managed to be scary in this episode, and it work really well. There are several scenes from this episode that are absolutely horrifying (in a good way). The episode concept is both nightmarishly twisted and absolutely brilliant at the exact same time. This episode isn't like classic Rick and Morty, it's better than it.

I loved it.
MrColding27 September 2022
It wasn't like the usual more "upbeat" Rick and Morty episode where they go off and have an adventure. It was darker and almost took place at one location throughout the episode. But don't get me wrong, it still had a lot of funny moments in it and a bit of action as well.

I think it was quite creative and the concept was great.

The soundtrack was also good.

The only negative about the episode is that it was too short. I would have loved to see at least 40 minutes episode of this .

And sure, you can always find plot holes, but it is a animated show after all.

I say it is a good and fun filler episode so that's what I'm rating it on.

Back on track

Warning: Spoilers
I like the way they stick to the story before the theme block which is already shown on the episode 3. Season 6 is much more progressive than the season 5. They're pick up the pieces that felt hallow in the case of storytelling. What make rick and Morty grounded were they taken out the portals. Which makes it more down to earth kind of show. I loved the scene were jerry asks summer get in the same car and because of the family joke was funny and finally the core structure of the episode rick say summer opinion which is Little to him, make the night summer Vengeance s explodes to take the whole day family.

Funniest Episode of the Series!!!
jamesdjames-9448626 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This I would have to say is the funniest Rick and Morty episode of the entire series. Not a lot of episodes truly make me laugh out loud and this episode had me dying the entire way I was actually shocked on how funny it kept getting it reminds me of Total Rickall and I love that. Definitely had the old Rick and Morty feel again. 10/10!!

Best Jokes:
  • "Tell your boyfriend to suck my d***" - Rick
  • Jerry finally realizing it was Night Summer
  • "Get behind my abs" - Morty
  • Rick punching Morty in the abs causing him to fly
out the window
  • Post-Credit scene was a funny ending
  • and many others.

The first time I laughed hysterically while watching this show in a while
A-aron26 September 2022
This episode is clever, atmospheric, and just downright hilarious. Sure I got a kick out of Summer's die hard, and some of the jokes in the first episode of this season. But this is the first truly laugh out loud episode. I'll admit it's mostly visually funny. The "gasoline factory" and "firework museum" had me laughing my ass off, the truck of adderalls crashing was hilarious, and don't even get me started on the smart car scene! There are also a ton of other funny visual gags. Not to mention the whole concept of the night people revolting, while predictable, isn't really a concept R&M have fleshed out before. We're now seeing the full consequences of the season 5 finale in action.

This is an example of a Rick and Morty episode being good without being a parody of something else. I would go as far as saying this is the best episode of the season, and one of the best episodes of the whole show.

Fairly good for one time watching
masoud_ahmadi26 September 2022
The idea was not bad, the begging was good, but after a while, it gets boring and predictable. I expected at least a little bit of twist from the creators who made "Total Rickall", the one with alien parasites. Also, I barely laughed during this episode, not very funny.

Overall, it was good, but I am not eager to re-watch this episode, while I've seen most of the episodes of the previous seasons several times.

I am guessing they are trying to fill the middle of the season with roughly good-mediocre ideas and focus on the serialized part of the story in the last few episodes of the season, like what they did for season 5.

Also, two questions: 1-how night persons could talk and interact, but in the opening, night Rick did not talk to Beth?

2-If night persons could do anything beyond their ordered tasks, why they were doing chores at first?

Amazing episode!!! Loving this season!!!
superbulldog-9926926 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode had a Great concept and had many funny moments that made me laugh. I loved every moment just like all the other episodes this season this episode felt like classic Rick and Morty. I really wonder if this will have any relevancy withing the next episodes cause (SPOILER!) at the end of the episode the night people could not do normal human tasks cause they weren't used to it, so in the end they ended up getting the car taken away and the house all gross and disgusting because they never cleaned it. Maybe this will continue like they'll have to clean it or something or get the car back or whatever lol. Anyways, if you like Rick and Morty this episode is great, definitely a great watch!!

I Liked The Bit With The Chicken
MogwaiMovieReviews26 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The latest Rick & Morty episode, "Night Family", is pretty solid, easily the best of the season so far, and in many ways just a good old fashioned R&M romp, this time seemingly inspired by the TV show 'Severance', but taking that basic science fiction premise to some clever extremes.

Something's still a little off, though, with the two main characters once again much too sidelined and seemingly written by people who don't particularly like them anymore. The only part that made me laugh out loud was the the bit with the chicken alarm clock. Which lasted less than 4 seconds, but that bit was good.

Problem
sigmainsan26 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I believe R&M is one of the best sci-fi series, but I think that rick has been overpowered unnecessarily, especially in this episode, and that ruins the structure of the show. As far as I can see, only one story is processed now and to beat Rick, it is enough to lock his garage. It is disturbingly ridiculous that Rick is bullied by space Beth and the "night family" tortures Rick all night with a few belts. I don't have a problem with Rick's defeat and humiliation, but it takes a clever way to defeat the man who destroyed the galactic federation and the Citade with a code he wrote using only his mind while he was inside some kinda matrix. Note: english is not my native language, sorry for mistakes.

Similar to Pickle Rick
johnnoveck30 September 2022
This episode was very fun to watch. It had a great start but the ending and second half of the episode really sealed the deal.

Tense and thrilling, Night Family gave Pickle Rick vibes but in a totally new area. While Pickle Rick highlighted Rick's chaotic and violent insanity, and his ability to turn any scenario into one in his favor, Night Family does justice by characterizing Rick as someone so stubborn... so self-centered... so nihilistically ego-driven that he would be willing to jeopardize his entire families safety over a dirty dish.

Bonus: The music was amazing, it was tense and felt like it came from an actual horror movie. The visuals were the best I've ever seen this or any season.

A different change in pace for the series.
ia-820703 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Season 6 is changing the formula for the series. Well atleast doing something different that we haven't seen in a while. It seems we are finally letting these characters sit with eachother, and deal with one another. Without the use of Portal Guns, everything seems grounded without loosing that Sci fi fantastical aspect of the show. Without the hienseight of the next episodes, I don't know what it's building too. But this episode throws back to earlier episodes in the series. Using the characters themselves to explore a different aspect of them. With a concept that utilizes the characters to a maximum effort. This episode primarily focusing on the family's laziness, and unwilling to communicate with one another. With the idea that only their built up emotions when manifested, allows them to actually be a functioning family. Is just the right kind of sitcom relatable science fiction, that made this show very funny and fitting within the sitcom formula. It might not be groundbreaking, but it's clear the creators are having more focus on the family this year. Unlike Season 5 kindove not contrasting its family dynamics with core ideas that well, this steady progression of episodes feels organic, and leaves room for bizarre creativity. When this show does it right, they knock it out of the park. Not to mention its style of progressing stakes. Well it keeps the characters contained in their environment, seeing all the different levels Rick's pettyness goes through to take control of the situation, was very funny and stays true to his character. All in the end yeilding to the night family, and once again proving to the audience he isn't the most dominant in the status quo. It might be a simple story that uses traditional narrative structures, it feels right at place in this new season for whatever also comes next.

Queen of the Night
southdavid28 September 2022
This fourth episode of season six was, for me, the one that so far has best balanced a good story, with being funny and brings back the level of storytelling invention that we've seen in earlier seasons.

The family learn of Rick's (Justin Roiland) latest piece of alien tech, the Somnambulator, which animates their sleeping bodies and controls them to undertake preordained tasks, naturally the whole family soon wants in. Rick and Morty (Justin Roiland) both use it to exercise and gain washboard abs, Beth (Sarah Chalke) learns the trumpet, Summer (Spencer Grammer) learns Spanish and Jerry (Chris Parnell), being Jerry, turns his into a penpal. But after determining that their lot in this arrangement isn't all it could be, the night family start to rebel.

So, whilst there are definite shades of the show "Severence" to the plot of the episode, tonally it's much more similar to a horror film, particularly Jordan Peele's "Us", as the night people speak with strained voices and talk about "always having been there". There is also a mini-parody of "Avengers: Endgame" with the forging of new crockery mirroring the creation of Stormbreaker and proving one of the key themes of the episode, that Rick will do anything rather than lose face.

As I say, perhaps better than any episode in this season so far, this one felt like one that would have fit into the earlier seasons, the invention of the story, with the family fighting not to fall asleep and switching sides when they do, and it all tracking properly, makes this a plot that only "Rick and Morty" could have done and it's genuinely funny too, mixing in sight (and sound) gags with a witty script.

One of the best episodes in a while.

Another classic R&M episode with brand new flavor...
orixinal01826 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A new R&M episode with totally brand new experience. I like the bone chilling horror vibe it gives, alongside their typical silliness (that's noticeably less in this episode). I love the way the character of Jerry got some justice at last. Also it's good to see Rick defeated sometimes. This episode is simpler than most of the episodes, but hell of a ride it was. The color tone & the depth of the art style is intensely dramatic like in the episode where Morty & Summer had an incest baby & the episode of the turkey people. Even the background score was on point that might give you the heebiezeebies in your guts. It sounds silly, but trust me! The episode was fun! Another classic R&M episode with brand new flavor...

Rick is petty again
ericstevenson5 October 2022
This episode features Rick creating dream selves where we can do things in our sleep we can't do during the day. I admit it doesn't make much sense. During their waking hours, wouldn't they be tired from all they did during the night? Anyway, this was still quite interesting with a great premise. It was almost like an inverted "Russian Sleep Experiment". It was hard to tell what was going on.

The previews for these episodes seem to keep getting longer. I'm surprised how short this episode was. It was a minute shorter, but that was probably part of the joke with how the credits were done. The best part was the car chase. It seemed like Rick did get his just desserts at one point. Well yeah, they weren't literally desserts. ***1/2.

This is probably the one of the best episodes of rick and morty
rrrrww26 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
After 2 subpar seasons with a few good episodes this seasons feels like it's going back to it's s2 routes with 3 of the 4 episodes being straight up bangers. Experimenting with weird stuff...the plot amour of rick gone. Everyone feels like an actual threat again.

Rick is not invincible . Not in the ways that matter anyway and now he has to let go of his stubborness one way or another.

This does horror better than most horror shows The soundtrack is amazaing i know i am singing way too many praises but s6 is just perfect in every sense i wanted rick and morty to be.

I highly suggest everyone who left rick and morty can tune in back The show is back to being great atleast for the first half of this season And definitely worth watching if you have been a fan of the series.

Not bad?
edwebo-8514730 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I've been rewatching the earlier seasons, and the contrast is pretty stark in the number of layers and subplots going on. The sheer mayhem and fallibility of the original characters seems to have dropped off a lot, too. Although it was worth watching it missed the mark for me, as have the other episodes of season 6 so far. Really hoping they pick back up or they make more sense in the context of the whole season.

Regarding the fallibility I referenced, the earlier seasons had a reckless drunken grandpa who happened to be a genius, so he was somewhat balanced out. Now its like the show has become too self aware and he's lost some depth.

For specifics on this episode, the plot of Summer randomly becoming the leader of the night people seemed unconvincing to me. Was it a Space Odyssey 2001 reference? In any case it was pretty out of the blue, or perhaps I'm missing something?

Bad to the roots.
pavlomir3 October 2022
Glad to see an episode that have some originality in it. It did a good job creating a horror story out of simple thing like escaping doing the dishes.

The Jerry character had something useful to do with his wish, despite the gang thinking otherwise.

Even that the bad guys won, as you see at the end scene, it didn't quite work out for them, good end to the episode.

I wonder why they picked Summer as lead role in this one, maybe character rotation? Jerry is the lead in the next one.

I really like when the show sticks to original stuff, not just ripping of the movies or the popular persons for content ideas.

Still not smart again yet
denniswik1 November 2022
Its less bad than s04 but still feels not on par.

This show might need a few years between seasons?

My condition for a show/movie being really good is that it surpirises me, not as in jump scares, but in a way that I couldnt have made up better (less bad) myself. Season 1 2 and 3 is great, not because I saw it before all the others, I didnt, I was a late adopter and didnt see all until after season 3.

As usual, all the action scenes feels like filler, (go watch season 4 if you like these, I couldnt watch season 5 since season 4 was so bad and didnt take it up until this season) probably because they are.

I wish Roiland and Harmon becomes millionaires just because the old good early seasons, but why are they letting hacks write the scripts? They are still soing the voices?

Show has gone mundane
ajs32126 September 2022
This was a really dull episode, the ideas and stories are not that interesting, it seems like a episode from a show the puts out a lot of content not just 10 episodes. I as tho making one episode with a lot of story and revealing new things like they did in the first one but then just making 8 entertaining episodes till finale isn't good structure.

You do see some classic one liners in this but overall the dialogue isn't that cutting as before. It don't seem that compelling because I feel as tho the behaviour of the characters change by each episode rather then per season.

Overall, it truely feels like this show is heading downhill, which hurts for me to say but it's just to simple and honestly boring.

It's horror
Trey_Trebuchet27 October 2022
Is this the first time Rick and Morty has attempted something horror-based? Outside of them planet with cronenbergs and the Scary Terri episode?

They did a good job with this. I know it's easy to just crap on this show now, seeing as it hasn't been on a consistent stride since the first few seasons, but I never really had much bad to say about the show as far as quality and laughs come (except that ONE episode in Season 5).

It amazes me that, even though not all episodes are made equally, these creators still have really original, interesting concepts. I have a feeling they probably won't be running out of ideas for a good while.

Rick and his family are mostly stuck in the house together now, which seems to be something that may happen more often this season, since Rick is a bit more handicapped now without his portal gun. Or something like that... Either way, this is making the show feel a bit different now and I like it. This one felt a lot like the classic episodes. Great tension, twists, and laughs all around.

Episode based on show severance!!!
bahadir2518 October 2022
Clever way to make an episode about innie (night). This is a parody of severance. Night person is a person but Rick doesn't think they deserved to be listened to. He should have known not to let the night people communicate with the day people from the start! Summer reminded me of outie hellys video to innie Helly.

This episode really reminded me of severance. There is a free book in the Apple Books app that is a companion of the show. It's the same concept: innie person and outie person found a way to pass messages to each other. They basically become pen pals. This is my favorite episode of season 6. Btw watch severance on Apple TV amazing show.
