Last week, the trailer for director Eli Roth’s long-awaited video game adaptation Borderlands, which is set to reach theatres on August 9th, made its way online – and while talking to Entertainment Weekly about the trailer, Roth revealed that he’s currently writing a horror script with 16-year-old Borderlands cast member Ariana Greenblatt, who plays Tiny Tina in the upcoming movie!
Roth told Entertainment Weekly that Greenblatt “loves horror, and we have a great idea, so we’re writing a movie together. That is an exclusive, nobody knows that. I don’t want to say anything about it yet, but she’s so smart I’m like, ‘Let’s write a movie together, and we’ll produce it together, and I’ll direct it, and you’ll star in it.’” Of course, Roth didn’t give away any details about the story he and Greenblatt are collaborating on. R L Stine’s Goosebumps has been renewed for a second series at Disney+, with a change in format to an anthology show.
R L Stine’s Goosebumps is one of the bestselling book series in history. It is no surprise that it has had myriad screen adaptations over the years.
Perhaps the most fondly remembered is the 1990s television series, which had memorable opening titles in which the shadow of the G in Goosebumps made it’s way through an eerie town while the unsettling theme tune played over it.
Many of the original novels were adapted, and it marked a high point for television horror aimed at young adults, as it was broadcast around the same time as Are You Afraid Of The Dark?, a horror anthology aimed at older teenagers. Several of Stine’s works have made it to the screen, from a trilogy of Fear Street...

R.L. Stine, the famous novelist, had said that there wouldn’t be so many stories about zombies, undead, and other weird and strange creatures if they didn’t exist. Unfortunately, best friends Amy (Madi Monroe) and Mike (Marlon Kazadi) found out about it the hard way. Amy was a huge movie buff and had been obsessed with zombies and other creatures for as long as she could remember. Mike was just the opposite; he couldn’t stand these made-up stories written just for the sake of scaring children. Little did they know, Mike and Amy would soon unlock a century-old secret that would pin them against their own town. Zombie Town is one horror-comedy film you won’t regret watching.

Chevy Chase isn’t flinching a smile while remembering his “Community” days.
Stopping by Mark Maron’s “Wtf” podcast in an episode released on Monday, the actor explained his less-than-thrilled attitude towards the Dan Harmon sitcom.
“I honestly felt the show wasn’t funny enough for me, ultimately. I felt a little bit constrained,” he remembered. “Everybody had their bits, and I thought they were all good. It just wasn’t hard-hitting enough for me.”

While on the topic of his character Pierce Hawthorne, Chevy said he didn’t mind the writing, but his problem was with the people.
“I didn’t mind the character. I just felt that it was… I felt happier being alone. I just didn’t want to be surrounded by that table, every day, with those people. It was too much.

As the resident curmudgeonly racist, Pierce Hawthorne was an almost perfect counterpart to the rest of the gang at Greendale Community College. But as for Community itself, Chevy Chase says he was far better than the material in front of him.
In a recent interview with Marc Maron on his Wtf podcast, Chevy Chase insisted that NBC’s Community had plenty of strong components to it but the show itself was far below him. “Honestly, I felt the show wasn’t funny enough for me, ultimately…I felt a little bit constrained a bit…Everyone had their bits and stuff, I thought they were all good, but it just wasn’t hard-hitting enough for me.” He even suggested that it was such a minor point in his career, saying he “kinda [forgets] about that.”

A few months ago, it was announced that Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase, who have worked together multiple times over the decades – Saturday Night Live, Spies Like Us, Caddyshack II, The Couch Trip, Nothing But Trouble, the music video for Ray Parker Jr.’s “Ghostbusters” theme song – were teaming up again to star in the R.L. Stine adaptation Zombie Town. Now Stine has taken to social media to share an early poster for Zombie Town (note the “credits not contractual” disclaimer at the bottom) and revealed that the movie is going to be released sometime in December. The poster can be found at the bottom of this article.

Early in the podcast, they discussed Chase’s work opposite Burt Reynolds in The Last Movie Star, the latter’s final film before he died Sept. 6, 2018. “He was actually dying during it,” Chase noted of the Adam Rifkin film. “That’s when I learned what a great actor he is.”

R.L. Stine fans, rejoice! We seem to be the middle of a renaissance for projects based on the writing of "The Stephen King of Kids Horror." Thanks to the popularity of Leigh Janiak's terrific "Fear Street" film trilogy, Netflix is reported to be cooking up even more movies based on Stine's slasher-mystery property. There's also a new live-action "Goosebumps" TV show in development at Disney+, which is already home to the lesser-known but genuinely sturdy "Just Beyond" anthology inspired by Stine's genre-blending graphic novel series of the same name.
Elsewhere, shooting is now underway on "Zombie Town," a film based on yet another one of Stine's horror books for younger readers. Published in 2012, the novel follows 12-year-old friends Mike and Karen as they head out to see the titular zombie flick in a theater, only for movie's brain-hungry monsters to lurch off the screen and begin wreaking havoc on their unsuspecting town.
