- In commemoration of Mickey Mouse's 40th anniversary, this animated salute contains highlights from a number of favorite Disney cartoons dating back as far as 1936.
- Made up of a number of favorite cartoons, from as far back as 1936, this animated anniversary salute gives the older generation a chance to reminisce, and the younger set a chance to see what made Mickey Mouse the world's most popular movie attraction. Mickey Mouse is 40 years young this summer and celebrates the occasion by starring in Walt Disney's "Mickey Mouse Happy Birthday Show." The film contains scenes from some of Mickey's all-time favorite cartoons and features many of his friends including Donald Duck, Horace Horsecollar, Pluto and Minnie Mouse. Most of the "Birthday Show" is composed of three short subjects featuring old Mickey. These are introduced by some new film footage on Mickey and his pals, salted with brief glimpses of classic figures in the Mickey mythology. Included is a brief black and white bit of Steamboat Willie (1928). The first of the full cartoon stories is Mickey's Birthday Party (1942) in which old Mick is given a surprise party at the house of Minnie Mouse. The second film, The Whalers (1938) shows Mickey and his pals on a whale hunt. Finally comes The Simple Things (1953), a Mickey epic about a day fishing at the beach in which a duel between Pluto and a clam occupies much of the attention.
