As if the endless Xbox vs. PlayStation debate wasn’t rough enough, the discourse has reached a fever pitch with the recent release of Sea of Thieves on the PS5.
Formerly an exclusive title for Microsoft platforms, the game’s arrival on Sony’s console has ignited a fresh wave of debate over which console reigns supreme, and both sides seem to have a lot to say about it.
The Xbox Series X vs. PS5 Debates Escalate Quickly
The former Xbox exclusive has riled up console players on both sides
Initial impressions of Sea of Thieves on the PS5 have been overwhelmingly positive. The game has a Metacritic score of 85 (based on four critic reviews) and there are first-hand reports from players suggesting it runs smoother compared to its Series X counterpart.

It’s undeniable. Fallout is an absolute hit, and the age of terrible TV adaptations and low expectations is behind us (Halo notwithstanding). After years of sub-standard, terrible adaptations like Resident Evil, Max Payne, and countless others, we gamers thought we were in for the long haul while waiting for good quality TV and movies. Well, that wait is certainly over.
First, we got The Last of Us, then the critically panned but as-equally fun The Super Mario Bros. Movie which was an incredible Mario experience, if a terrible film, and now we have the excellent Prime Video Fallout. And this wealth of good gaming content on the big screen means a few knock-on effects in the actual gaming space.

A few months back, there were strong rumors about the release of Xbox-exclusive games on other platforms, such as the PS5. The launch of Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, and other first-party titles on the Sony console confirmed this.
However, rumors are circulating that Starfield and Elder Scrolls: Blade will eventually also come to PlayStation 5. A well-known gaming insider on X/Twitter, who even disclosed the job offer on LinkedIn, made this discovery and added that this idea of making the game multiplatform existed before the Microsoft acquisition.

The Xbox brand is in a confusing spot at the moment. With so many Xbox exclusives like Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves moving to PlayStation, there are few titles left that truly market themselves as Microsoft’s exclusive games.
However, there are quite a few titles that are yet to make their way to more platforms. From simulators to story-driven games, these are some of the best Xbox exclusives that should come to PlayStation at some point in the future.
5. Microsoft Flight Simulator Sky’s really not the limit in this one.
There’s a subtle sense of meditation and solace found in all the times you decide to cruise above Earth’s surface, around 32,000 feet high up in the sky. Unless you’re actually a pilot, the closest you’ll come to this experience is in Microsoft Flight Simulator, a game designed to make you feel like you’re flying.

Ever since Xbox announced in February that they’ll port four first-party games from their back-catalog, namely Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, Pentiment, and Grounded, to competing platforms PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, speculation has run rampant about which games will be next.
Although Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer attempted to mitigate fan outrage by saying that the dams aren’t going to break after these four games, there’s been a storm of claims from industry insiders claiming there are more ports on the way, with Hellblade 2 named as one of them. We delve into whether it’s possible.

As Helldivers 2 grows in popularity with each update, one thing that remains unchanged is the number of platforms this game is on. This game started life as a PlayStation 5 exclusive that was also released on PC. Ever since its launch, the game has seen significant growth in its number of players. But the developer Arrowhead Game Studio and publisher Sony have decided they would rather keep it away from Xbox.
The popularity of this game is such that fans who own Xbox consoles have been constantly asking the developers to bring it to their consoles too. The thing is that even if the developers want, they cannot bring this game to Xbox because only Sony can make a final call on that. Hence, Xbox owners are now looking at an exclusive of their own to fill this hole: Hellblade 2. And rumors suggest it might remain exclusive.

Xbox Game Pass houses a variety of games that can be suitable for the preferences of everyone, may it be large multiplayer games like Call of Duty: Warzone or linear games that can be offline like Control and sports titles as well, and their library got bigger with the latest addition of MLB The Show 24. However, the Sony-published game is also making its way to another competitor platform the Nintendo Switch.
Game Pass was an interesting proof of concept that people are willing to pay for a subscription service to access a diverse selection of games that can be played through their Xbox consoles and PCs. Some games are locked to a specific platform which can be a hassle, fortunately, MLB themselves didn’t like the idea of exclusivity which prompted both San Diego Studios and Sony to share the game with their rival platforms to avoid losing the license.

Microsoft has started an initiative that will allow Xbox games to be played on rival platforms like the Nintendo Switch, and Sony’s PlayStation, and among the first batch of titles is Hi-Fi Rush. The game was developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda Softworks which is now owned by Microsoft, thus making every future project an Xbox exclusive, however, Microsoft isn’t interested in gatekeeping games on either PC or their flagship console anymore.

After weeks of leaks and rumors, Xbox recently took some of its first-party titles, such as Hi-Fi Rush and Grounded, to the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. There were also several reports that the company will not make any more systems now as it is exiting the hardware market and will go third-party.
Although this claim was refuted by Xbox head Phil Spencer, who assured gamers that the Xbox Series X|S wouldn’t be the last console, many were still worried. However, it seems like Xbox is not going anywhere, as a new console labeled Dev Kit has been rated in South Korea.

Xbox has made several attempts to ensure it is not left behind in the “console wars”. From acquiring studios left, right, and center to launching a more economical entry point in the current console generation, none of it stopped PlayStation from ruling the console market.

PlayStation vs. Xbox is a long-running battle in the gaming fraternity. Sometimes the former edges past with its huge exclusive titles, and sometimes the latter touches the line with its exciting Game Pass library. Amidst this battle, fans are in awe that an Xbox first-party title is right now reigning the charts, in the name of Sea of Thieves.
In February, Microsoft announced that many of their first-party titles would be going cross-platform. To begin this journey, four titles were selected; one of them was the open-world pirate ship adventure title from Rare. Scheduled to be available on April 30, 2024, Sea of Thieves currently sits at the top of the list of best-selling pre-orders on the PlayStation Network in the United States. So, is this the beginning of Xbox’s dominance over their archrival’s arena?

Helldivers 2, the co-op shooter from Arrowhead Game Studios, has been out for over a month, but the hype around it is still how it was on day one. The game is only available for PlayStation 5 and PC, but Xbox players are begging the developer to launch on the platform.
Although that doesn’t seem to be happening for now, Microsoft’s first-party games releasing on PlayStation make it worth considering that the game could come to the platform. However, regardless of whether Helldivers 2 releases on Microsoft’s platform or not, the previously rumored Starfield might not be coming to PS5.

Helldivers 2 is a successful game; Arrowhead Game Studios seems to have really hit the bullseye with this game in every way. It looks excellent, and it is a brilliant game when played. What’s even better is the fact that it supports a co-op mode, so players can bring about their friends for some Automaton-destroying fun.
This game launched for PlayStation 5 and PC on February 8, and within a month of its launch, has garnered a very high player count on Steam. While it might be lower than what it was when it launched, it’s still pretty impressive for a new title. And now, fans have high hopes that this player count will increase as the game makes its way to Xbox consoles.

Helldivers 2 is surfing a sturdy wave of popularity, as Arrowhead has fixed the server issues that plagued the co-op shooter since launch, allowing players to dive in without having to stare at a loading screen for 40 minutes.
Such is the game’s popularity, that Xbox fans also want in on the action, with many PS5 and PC players supporting the initiative in the interest of spreading liberty throughout the galaxy. However, a subsection of PS5 gamers relish the game’s exclusion from Xbox, and Arrowhead’s CEO has rightfully schooled one of them.

Bethesda is working on several games, like the new Indiana Jones title, Fable, and many more. Fallout, one of its most popular franchises, has not had a new entry in a long time. But according to some new Pegi ratings, a never-before-seen Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition could be in development.
The original creators of this particular game were Obsidian Entertainment back in 2010, and this studio is currently working on Avowed, a game that will launch this year. This Ultimate Edition could be from another studio that is working on a remake or a remastered version.

Microsoft put weeks of leaks and rumors to rest when it announced earlier this month that four of its first-party titles are going multiplatform via a special edition of the official Xbox podcast. These games were later revealed to be Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves.
These games have been fan favorites, and it shocked fans that Xbox is taking them to competitor platforms, but it seems like it was long planned before the official news was shared with the players, and this could mean that more first-party titles may already be in the works for multiplatform release.

These last few weeks have been kind of tormenting for PlayStation and Xbox fans with the rumors of the companies going third-party. While Xbox has already confirmed the games going to competitor platforms, PlayStation rumors started when Sony President and Ps Chairman Hiroki Totoki said that the company is looking to change its approach with first-party titles.

Nintendo somewhat quietly published a Nintendo Direct presentation today that focused on some of its partners’ upcoming projects. While filled with interesting updates about various games, the highlight of the presentation involved an unexpected update to Nintendo Switch Online’s digital library.
As of today, Nintendo Switch Online subscribers of various tiers can play a collection of Rare-developed titles that include Snake Rattle ‘n’ Roll, Rc Pro-am, Battletoads in Battlemaniacs, Killer Instinct, and Blast Corps. Gamers in Japan got Mother 3 in their version of that update, but that’s a story for another day.
While many of those games are notable in their own ways, the fact they were all developed by Rare is most certainly the most interesting thing about them in this particular instance. February 21st’s Nintendo Direct didn’t offer anything earth-shattering, but it’s lovely to see World Of Goo and Pocket Card Jockey back.
Anyone hoping we’d see a glimpse of the Nintendo Switch’s hotly-anticipated successor, or perhaps a few morsels of information about Metroid Prime 4, were probably disappointed by today’s Nintendo Direct. In fact, the modest selection of games announced in its 23-minute showcase were pleasing enough yet low-profile enough to lend weight to the theory that Nintendo’s keeping its bigger titles back for whatever comes after the Switch.
Kicking things off was Grounded, a port of the Honey I Shrunk The Kids-esque multiplayer adventure that’s been kicking around on PC since 2020. If Nintendo started with this in order to keep expectations in check, then the announcements certainly continued in the ‘surprising but not shocking’ mode. There’s a port of Ender Lillies:...

Several leaks and rumors have surfaced online in the last few months, all indicating that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be released sometime in 2024. This led to speculation that the announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2 is still away, but a reputable leaker has now said that Nintendo is planning to reveal the Switch 2 in June this year and also provided information about the Nintendo Direct Showcase for first-party games.

It’s a new world for Xbox as far as the latest insights from Microsoft executives Phil Spencer, Sarah Bond, and Matt Booty are concerned. Many fans don’t feel like staying in this new world though. All hell broke loose earlier this month when The Verge broke the story that Xbox was preparing to re-release first-party exclusives on the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. Among the games rumored to go third-party were last year’s biggest Xbox exclusive, Bethesda’s Starfield, and upcoming big-budget action-adventure title Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. There were even rumors that Gears of War, a long-running franchise synonymous with the Xbox brand, would make the jump to the PS5.
This of course sent some in the Xbox community into a panicked frenzy, including a group of Xbox influencers who announced they were quitting the platform altogether and posting pictures of them trading in their Series X. For less dramatic but still concerned fans of the platform, the worry was that by ending the exclusivity of its biggest titles on Xbox consoles, the company was effectively giving up on the Xbox Series...

July seems like the month of Microsoft. The company recently won a huge legal battle over the FTC and signed a binding agreement to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation for the next 10 years, which essentially removes one of the biggest hurdles that has prevented Xbox from acquiring Activision Blizzard. But Phil Spencer giveth, Phil Spencer taketh away, as Microsoft is officially ending the Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Games With Gold programs. However, the replacement is arguably superior.

While the recent PlayStation and Summer Game Fest events were kind of a bust, expectations are justifiably high for Xbox’s upcoming showcase event. That’s partially because Xbox could really use a win right now when it comes to major new releases, but much of the hype is based on the fact that there are so many major Xbox titles that seem due for an update.
In fact, so many of the rumors and reports surrounding the upcoming Xbox event focus on games we already know are in development. While that sadly means we likely won’t get a lot of true surprise announcements during the upcoming Xbox event, you should expect to see at least some minor updates on a few highly-anticipated projects. Specifically, here are a few of the more notable things I think will appear during the show.

Randall Park’s directorial debut, which had a mostly positive reception from its Sundance premiere, will launch theatrically on August 4.
“Shortcomings,” starring Justin H. Min, Sherry Cola and Ally Maki, will make its New York premiere at the Tribeca Festival next month in the Spotlight Narrative section.
Based on the Eisner-winning cartoonist Adrian Tomine’s graphic novel of the same name, “Shortcomings” also features Tavi Gevinson, Debby Ryan, Sonoya Mizuno, Timothy Simons and Jacob Batalon. Tomine, a frequent contributor to The New Yorker, adapted the screenplay and is executive producing.
The picture concerns a struggling filmmaker who spends his days managing an arthouse theater. When his girlfriend moves to New York for an internship, Ben is left to ponder what he really wants out of life.

The raison d'être of the third season of "Star Trek: Picard" has been its much-touted reunion of seven members from the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" cast. That the season is on its seventh episode and the fact that the entire cast has yet to be gathered in one room only reveals the showrunners' utmost restraint. Given the events of the last few episodes, however, one can rest assured that the actual reunion is coming soon.
Despite the restraint on display, the new season of "Picard" has nonetheless whetted Trekkies' appetite for cameos, reunions, and other fun in-jokes and nostalgic references. In the timeline of "Picard," multiple notable "Star Trek" characters are still alive and thriving, and some viewers may have their fingers crossed for appearances from some of their favorites.
