Coney Island's Luna Park was not just rides and Nathan's Hot Dogs. They put on spectacles, including this one in which a building is supposed to be burning, fire engines roar up, and people climb to their safety and leap into nets erected by the fire fighters.
It's shot in one continuous take from a distance, and the quality of the print I looked at was not very good; people are fuzzy bugs, even though you can see the folks jumping into the nets are professionals; they get out of the net like acrobats do. Still, it's an interesting record of the sort of attraction that appealed to people way back when.
