Before Jim Carrey was attached to the movie, there were a couple other actors considered before he was. The first choice for the role of Tadek was Christoph Waltz. Waltz was attached to the role, but he eventually left the project for unknown reasons. Saban Films then offered the role to Morgan Freeman, but Freeman turned down the role as he didn't express interest in the role whatsoever. Eventually, Jim Carrey was offered the role, to which he accepted and was cast in the movie.
