The Legend of Korra has perfectly continued the story of Avatar: The Last Airbender. If the original animated series introduced the world, the spin-off built upon it to a degree no one saw coming. One of the most explored aspects was that of bending; more specifically, how much more one could do as a bender.
Avatar: The Last Airbender
During Aang’s time, it was as though we were shown only the tip of the iceberg. However, by the time Korra comes around, it is as though everything becomes more and more advanced. Suddenly, earthbenders and firebenders are also taking part in medicine, and airbenders could propel themselves like cannonballs.

Avatar: The Last Airbender introduced audiences to the bending arts, which was a fun spin on a tried and tested magic system that was based on the four classical elements. It fused the elements with martial arts, spirituality, and celestial objects, which was able to weave an original magic system with complex lore that intrigued fans about how the magic of the world of Avatar conducts itself.
Aang, in the Avatar State, is a key part of the magic system.
Complex magic systems like the bending arts tend to come with meticulous planning from the creators. However, there is one aspect of firbending in particular that is uncharacteristically left unexplored in the final seasons of Avatar: The Last Airbender, a concept that factors heavily into the finale of the series.

It appears that after its rebirth and the subsequent VR entry, we’re once again returning to the Hellgate series. This time with one of the original developers. Bill Roper, who served as producer, writer, and director of Hellgate: London, has announced the development of Hellgate: Redemption at Roper’s new studio, Lunacy Games.
Per GamesBeat, Roper states that Lunacy recently made a deal with Hanbitsoft to develop Redemption after acquiring a license for the Hellgate: London franchise. “It feels like it’s been a long time in secretive hibernation. So I’m really happy to be able to start publicly talking about what we’re doing,” Roper said. “We’re announcing the Hellgate license on the 27th and that’s my birthday. So I can’t think of a better birthday present to go and play in those demon apocalyptic waters again.”

In scientific terms, double blind refers to an experiment in which neither the subjects nor those in charge of the experiment know who is getting the drug and who is getting a placebo. The new Irish thriller Double Blind, not to be confused with another medical thriller of the same name, revolves around one such experiment, a first stage trial of a drug that might eliminate the need for sleep. And if that sounds familiar, it might be due to another recent Irish film, The Sleep Experiment, based off of the creepypasta The Russian Sleep Experiment. But while there are echoes of that here, the two tell their stories in very different ways.
Double Blind follows Claire, a broke young woman who volunteers for a clinical trial run by Blackwood Pharmaceuticals.

Amanda Garcia is known for not holding back on her opinions on The Challenge, and she continued that trend with remarks about several castmates during a docuseries based on the show.
She’s brought the drama on multiple seasons of The Challenge, including arguments with Michele Fitzgerald and Tori Deal on the CBS spinoff USA 2.
During her recent episode of The Challenge: Home Turf, Amanda, the former Are You The One? star, discussed several individuals she’s been on The Challenge with.
Among them was her former teammate from the War of the Worlds season, Josh Martinez.
Amanda commented on her role in helping the Big Brother winner become a star on the reality TV competition series.
In addition, she brought up several castmates who were rivals that she indicated she “forgot existed.”

Kacey Musgraves has released a studio version of the oft-covered Bob Marley and The Wailers classic “Three Little Birds.” Her rendition is for Reinaldo Marcus Green’s upcoming biopic Bob Marley: One Love.
Musgraves wisely didn’t try to replicate Marley’s roots reggae instrumentation here. Instead, she used his melodies and evergreen lyrics over a gentle acoustic guitar strum, some minimal drums, and a pedal steel. It’s all blanketed in heavy reverb, staying authentic to the comforting quality of the original song while making it her own.
“Three Little Birds” is just one of six Marley covers on an eponymous EP accompanying One Love. That’ll also feature Leon Bridges, Daniel Caesar, Bloody Civilian, Jessie Reyez, Wizkid, and Bob’s grandson Skip Marley. Stream Musgraves’ contribution and then see the full EP tracklist below.

The honorable Klingon Kurn (Tony Todd) first appeared in the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Sins of the Father". In that episode, he revealed that he was the long-lost little brother of Worf (Michael Dorn), the only Klingon in Starfleet. Kurn had been living under a fake name, as his and Worf's father had been (falsely) accused of betraying a camp of Klingons to the Romulans years before. In Klingon society, a son is just as guilty as their parent, hence the episode's title. The crime in question was actually committed by the father of a character named Duras (Patrick Massett), who had covered up the crime and was now poised to sit on the Klingon High Council.
Rather than accuse a potential Klingon ruler of malfeasance and potentially throw the entire Klingon Empire into a civil war, Worf chose to keep all this secret. He instead allowed his...

Once upon a time, The Blacklist was one of the hottest shows on television. Since its premiere, it was a winner thanks to an ingenious premise, characters, and a format that worked.
For ten seasons, the show soldiered on with viewers tuning in each week, and once streaming became a thing, the show was added to several streamers worldwide.
But looking at the numbers from the first season to the final season, there was such a massive drop in viewership, whether in live ratings or streaming, that it begs the question of why viewers jumped ship.
For context, the first season averaged 10 million live viewers, and the final season went slightly above 1 million. That’s a ninety percent decrease.
The question morphed into why the show lost steam, and in this article, we dive into distinct creative decisions that watered it down to unwatchable levels.

Update: In celebration of Sam Raimi’s The Quick and the Dead being added to The Criterion Channel as part of this month’s Women of the West series, Sharon Stone is clarifying her involvement in some of the casting. The popular story is that Stone paid the salaries of her then-unknown co-stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe, but on Instagram she’s saying that’s only partially true with her giving credit to producer Mike Medavoy for at least part of the casting.
“Yes, I paid @leonardodicaprio’s salary out of mine. No I didn’t pay @russellcrowe’s, but I did ask for the film to be delayed two weeks so we could get him here from Australia, and our producer @mikemedavoyup agreed to the delay. And to cover those expenses.”
Whatever the case, Stone certainly helped both actors get a foothold, with DiCaprio following The Quick and the Dead...

As you likely know by now, season two of “Loki” ended last week, and the ramifications of the series have echoed on. And Tom Hiddleston finally did the press rounds now that the strikes are over, talking to the Happy Sad Confused podcast and Entertainment Weekly, among others.
What are those consequences? Well, Spoiler ahead for those that haven’t seen “Loki,” go it?
While yes, season two was full of that complicated “timey wimey” stuff that confounded and made some of the series hard to follow, what you really learn is that in the end, Loki made a great sacrifice, basically taking responsibility for the multiverse problems he helped as a variant in the series, and banishing himself in exile at the end of time, seemingly forever, holding the multiverse together as his final sentence.

Cobweb begins a week before Halloween when Peter is woken up by the sound of knocking seemingly coming from inside his bedroom wall. In the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Sins of the Father," Worf (Michael Dorn) learned that he had a brother named Kurn (Tony Todd) who arrived on the Enterprise to recruit Worf for a special mission. It seems that their deceased father, Mogh, had been posthumously accused of treason by the Klingon High Council. Worf and Kurn needed to go back to the Klingon homeworld to make an appeal and clear their father's name; in Klingon society, the crimes of one generation implicate the next. Worf and Kurn, if they are unsuccessful, will be excommunicated from Klingon society — a grievous shame indeed — and executed in their father's staid.
At the end of the episode, it was revealed that Mogh had been framed ... by the father of Duras (Patrick Massett), a Klingon nobleman and heir to the throne. It seems that everyone knows how dirty Duras was, but to expose...

Dawn Richard Champions the Power of Self-Expression in Moving New Orleans-Set Dance Short ‘Pigments’
Having worked as a songwriter, producer and music-making artist since 2005, Dawn Richard knows the power of self-expression and in creating her first film as director she brings that power to her city, New Orleans. Pigments, which Richard co-directed with filmmaker Monty Marsh, is an experimental blend of dance, poetry and documentary that portrays the city of New Orleans through a lens of pure self-expression. It’s a gorgeous film with a powerful acknowledgement of the stories of individuals which Richards achieves by casting the film with the dance students of the New Orleans Centre for Creative Arts, a decision which allows the film to be embedded in a truth and reality known only by the residents of the famed city. Dn sat down with Richard for a conversation where she talks to us about the decision to shift perspectives on New Orleans in addition to her ongoing development as a multi-hyphenated artist.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Leverage: Redemption Season 2.] Did the Leverage: Redemption Season 2 finale, in its last moments, set up the next job we’ll see the crew pulling off? Hardison (Aldis Hodge) videos in from the space station where he’s been for most of the season to reveal that the guys who sent him up there forgot about him and can’t launch a rocket for a rendezvous for two months. But he has a solution: The others can come get him! Sophie (Gina Bellman), Parker (Beth Riesgraf), Eliot (Christian Kane), Harry (Noah Wyle), and Breanna (Aleyse Shannon) make excuses and walk out… leaving Hardison to call after them. He can’t take another freeze-dried meal, he insists, plus he’s missed three DC movies (a nice nod to Hodge’s role as Hawkman in Black Adam) and doesn’t even know who’s fighting whom. Everyone, of course, comes back, eager to start...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for all of Leverage: Redemption Season 2.] As Leverage: Redemption has proven, there are still plenty of stories to tell with this crew of bad guys who are the best good guys. The second season saw grifter Sophie (Gina Bellman) face her past and let go of her guilt, while hitter Eliot (Christian Kane) doesn’t think he’ll ever be redeemed. Harry (Noah Wyle) has accepted that he’s staying with the crew, after thief Parker (Beth Riesgraf) turned down a job offer for him. And they’re even going to be getting Hardison (Aldis Hodge) back… after they steal him from the space station, that is. Executive producer Dean Devlin discusses key moments from Season 2 and what could be ahead if the series is renewed. Eliot thinks he’ll never be redeemed. Is that something we could see explored in a significant way in a Season 3? Dean Devlin: Absolutely. That’s kind of...

There was a time, long before the "Star Wars" galaxy expanded to sequels, spin-offs, and TV series, where only one version of the infamous Master Yoda existed. In the original trilogy, Yoda was a puppet operated by Frank Oz — and even when "Star Wars" creator George Lucas came back with "The Phantom Menace," Oz reprised his performance as Yoda once more. Until then, Yoda was largely sedentary, and save for a few piggybacks on the shoulders of Luke Skywalker, entirely earthbound.
All that was set to change with the prequels, namely "Attack of the Clones." The new trilogy established the Jedi Order as a force to be reckoned with: during the Clone Wars, they're at the height of their hubris, but also the height of their military power. That meant that Yoda, the Grandmaster of the Jedi Council, would have to pull his weight in battle — as well as in...

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were birds of a feather this holiday season - hummingbirds, to be exact. In an On the JLo newsletter from Dec. 26, Lopez shared how the two shared their first Christmas together as a married couple, as well as the avian symbolism that inspired their decor. "I like to create a theme for every holiday. . . . To me, hummingbirds are messengers of love," Lopez explained. "They're very agile - can fly forward, backward, and up and down. They're also the fastest bird but they always have time to stop, eat something sweet and smell the roses. I identify with them, but more than anything, whenever I see one, I feel like it's a sign from God that everything is going to be Ok."
Having just written a song titled "Hummingbird" for her upcoming album, this seemed like the perfect theme to bring the couple's respective families together.

When Blanche Sweet sang “there’s a tear for every smile in Hollywood” in Show Girl in Hollywood (1930), she wasn’t wrong. Some family TV shows exist to sell toys. Or to fill gaps between pocket money-targeting ads, and to profit from cross-promotional product placement. Not this one – and not only because it’s shown on the BBC, historic producers of children’s drama that values young minds for their creative, and not their consumer, potential.
His Dark Materials exists to spark imaginations and excite debate about life’s most profound questions. It talks down to no-one, is accessible to everyone, and passes on a message that’s fundamental to everything fiction and drama are: tell stories. Because stories can be a key turned in a prison door lock, and a jolt of shared experience that makes the listener bolder. As bold as Will and Lyra, who listened to a story and saved the worlds.

Any parent who somehow finds themselves watching HBO’s addictively compelling Euphoria must pray their children know no one like Rue or are raising anyone like her. The series, which debuted in 2019 just as the world locked down, has only grown in popularity. My high school students, apparently, didn’t trip over it until season two arrived earlier this year. Given the higher profile and awards it has justly earned, HBO has combined the two seasons onto DVD for home consumption, no subscription required.
Rue, played with a rawness by Zendaya, is a 17-year-old whose life began to spiral out of control after the death of her father. Alcohol, drugs, and sex were combined in varying quantities as she sought a balm, but repeated attempts at rehab proved futile. As the show’s narrator, Rue shows us her pessimistic outlook on life and helplessness; without a real sense she’s seeking redemption or salvation.

"He's not robbing banks, he's putting on a show." Lionsgate has revealed the official trailer for an action thriller titled Detective Knight: Redemption, from filmmaker Edward Drake. This is actually the second movie a trilogy (uh oh) all from the same director, all featuring Willis as a Detective. I keep hoping all these bad Bruce Willis movies are done, considering his health, but nope there's always more. Redemption is the second one after Detective Knight: Rogue, released last month, and will lead right into Detective Knight: Independence scheduled to open in January. In custody in New York, Knight finds himself in the middle of a jailbreak led by "The Christmas Bomber". With the promised return of his badge in exchange for taking out the terrorists, Knight decides to help in the only way he knows how. Bruce Willis stars with Lochlyn Munro, Corey Large, Miranda Edwards, Beau Mirchoff, and Paul Johansson.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched the Season 8, episode 2, of “The Masked Singer,” which aired Sept. 28 on Fox.
Comedian Jeff Dunham, singer Montell Jordan and *Nsync star Chris Kirkpatrick were revealed on Wednesday night’s episode of “The Masked Singer,” as the show’s second episode shared a rare triple unmasking.
The Hummingbird was revealed to be Kirkpatrick, while Pi-Rat was Dunham and Jordan was Panther. Kirkpatrick was a leftover unmasking from last week; after that, among this week’s three performances, Dunham was first to go, with the fewest number of votes.
Later, Jordan was unmasked as Panther after facing off with Harp in a battle royale (in which both took turns singing “Born to be Wild” by Steppenwolf). Harp won for a second week in a row.
“Vegas Night” opened with guest judge Donny Osmond, who appeared on Season 1, singing “The Greatest Show.

Even though “The Masked Singer’s” Hummingbird was technically eliminated at the end of the season premiere, there was a “to be continued” cliffhanger and viewers didn’t actually find out his true identity until the start of the second episode. As it turned out, all four of the panelists guessed incorrectly, and Hummingbird turned out to be none other than Chris Kirkpatrick.
