- TriviaDerpy Hooves, the fan-favorite pegasus with crazy eyes, appears for the first time as a klutzy character (as a nod to the Bronies) instead of the random background pony she had been until this episode. She can be seen at 11:09, accidentally dropping items on Twilight Sparkle.
- Quotes
Twilight Sparkle: [Spike walks into the library] Oh, good, Spike, you're here. Take a letter.
Spike: With pleasure, Twilight.
Twilight Sparkle: "Dear Princess Celestia, I'm happy to report that - "
[Spike hasn't started writing yet because he is distracted by Twilight and Pinkie Pie wearing rainbow umbrella hats]
Twilight Sparkle: Spike, what have I been saying about focus?
Spike: I know, but I... Well...
Twilight Sparkle: What's wrong Spike, never thought you'd see me with an umbrella hat on?
Spike: Not really, no.
Twilight Sparkle: Pinkie's tail's a-twitchin'. What else can I do?
[all three laugh]
Twilight Sparkle: "I am happy to report that I now realize there are wonderful things in this world you just can't explain, but that doesn't necessarily make them any less true. It just means you have to choose to believe in them, and sometimes it takes a friend to show you the way."
Pinkie Pie: [she touches Twilight's nose] Honk!
Spike: [still writing] "Honk..."
Twilight Sparkle: "Always, your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle."

To me though, "Feeling Pinkie Keen" is one of the disappointments of Season 1. Up to this point of the season, it's my second least favourite. "Boast Busters" being my least favourite, and that is only from personal opinion and not an objective view. For the record, don't consider any of my opinions and views objective due to not wanting to come across as arrogant, sorry if it has ever come across that way (difficulty controlling my emotions has always been a big weakness of mine due to my Aspergers).
Had no issues with the vibrantly coloured, smoothly drawn and elegantly detailed animation. Nor with the music, which sticks in the head, is used and placed appropriately and any worries about intrusiveness or blandness are very quickly quashed.
Did find much of the slapstick, in one of the season's most slapstick-heavy episodes, cleverly done visually and in timing, and very amusing. Like Spike walking in reverse, scientific names, things falling from sky, a laboratory under the library, can go on and on. It did remind me a little of gags in classic Looney Tunes. The dialogue is smart and has many fun moments, Pinkie is always a joy. The premise is a clever one and made the most of, with a nice amount of variety. Most of the characters are handled with the same amount of distinct personality usually found with them, and Tara Strong is especially good when it comes to the very good voice acting.
At the same time, considering the premise, "Feeling Pinkie Keen" could have been much better. It can feel a touch chaotic in the pace and doesn't always feel focused in tone. Other episodes do much better characterising Twilight, progressing her and giving her more complexity. It was somewhat sad to see her get hurt as many times as she did.
Where "Feeling Pinkie Keen" most falls down is with the moral, which has always sparked the most debate between fans and has always been the episode's biggest criticism (even with those that liked it). For my tastes, it was heavy handed and a complete failure when it comes to sense. Other episodes do so much better having more important and relevant morals worth addressing that one can relate to, here it was not really clear recognising clearly what the moral was even.
Summing up, decent but disappointing at the same time. 6/10
