All dialogue had been recorded, and storyboards approved, prior to Trevor Moore's untimely death in 2021.
The troupe has called it their funniest work yet.
In the wake of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, the sketch comedy troupe, led by the late Trevor Moore, came together online to reminisce about the days in which when they performed together and created their cult hit TV show, The Whitest Kids U'Know (2007). The unanimous support of this resurgence inspired the group to begin crowdfunding for a long-gestating film, Mars. As of 2022, they've raised over $400,000 through live stream shows on Twitch and their YouTube channel where they do commentaries on their most famous sketches.
During a press cycle for his directorial effort, "Barbarian," Zach Cregger gave a statement regarding the future of The WKUK following the release of Mars. "Without Trevor, there's no Whitest Kids. So this will be our final thing and I'm really proud of it and I'm really happy to put it out there."
Will be the first feature film made by the Whitest Kids U' Know, and the first time the five of them have collaborated on a project in over a decade.
