Doing a remake of another film was a task by the International Shortfilm Festival Hamburg. The film surpassed the maximal length by several minutes and so it was never submitted to the festival.
Siri Nase had so much hair, that it didn't really fit into the space helmet. There is one shot were you can see it outside of the helmet.
The spaceship set had been built by Thorsten Franzen, Stefan Weski and Daniel Raboldt for a film called "Star Crew - Limits of Reality". After "The Last Survivor" it was used in several other shorts, including "Furple Reign" by Daniel Raboldt.
Initially the film was supposed to be more comedic. The alien should speak its own language and there were subtitles that suggested, that it was in fact peaceful and just looking for a place to sleep.
The crew used a leafblower for the scene, when the hatch opens. Director Daniel Raboldt and DOP Thorsten Franzen were inside the shuttle together with Siri Nase. When Raboldt shoutet "Cut!" several times, nobody heard him because the leaf blower was too loud. The take went on for several minutes.
