Dennis' behavior in the first half of the episode was very confusing to me, but it all made sense in the end. Dennis' speech about how they are doomed to bang only old people and his strategy saved the entire episode.

Anyone complaining about politics is wrong.

From LITERALLY EPISODE 1, It's Always Sunny has touched on political issues. Only now are "fans" upset, probably due to the deeply divided political state of the US. You're totally justified to not enjoy it, however saying "the show is too political now" is just false.
They sounded uh, pretty good.

I have no problem with the gang tackling political issues but in the past Sunny has always been funny while doing so and although these episodes have funny moments it is not even close to what you expect from a show of this caliber. Show feels forced, where is that improvisational tone it used to have? Still pretty good but not good enough to open for boyz 2 men.
Hilarious

Why are people turned off by the "politics" of the first two episodes? The gang has always made it a point to make fun of both sides of the political spectrum. This is classic Sunny.
This is the classic "Keep politics out of my shows unless they align with my beliefs" nonsense that they make fun of. Go watch a sitcom with a laugh track.

Better than the first one, but...

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is better than episode one, but it has the exact same problem that iasip has had for years now, which is the over reliance on meta humor. Just because you're capable of being self aware doesn't mean that being self aware is automatically funny. In fact it usually means you're substituting in references where actually jokes should be. The gang feels less and less like characters and more like the writers attempting to acknowledge the state of the world around them, and while that's fine in stand up comedy, it doesn't work for a scripted sitcom. Then they add in a scene of Dennis only doing all this weird meta commentary because he wants to get laid, and fair enough since that's his character, but it definitely doesn't make sense for the rest of the gang. The only funny jokes throughout the episode either involved the guest appearances or frank being his usual self, pretty much everything else was unfunny meta commentary.
After a weak start, now THIS is IASIP!!

The first episode was political, which is not bad. Previous political episodes were hilarious and smart for punching both sides and making everybody wrong at the end. The last one was just preachy towards one side only.
This one is more like it!!! They got a topic, and made both sides look stupid in very funny ways, which is a great characteristic of the show.
Talking about how things should move in the right direction, but that going there destroys the fun is a great base for great laughs and debate at the same time.
So GREAT!!!
(anyway... lethal weapon 5 and 6 were not offensive at all. They didn't mock a race, they mocked people who don't see how stupid they are, Mac and Dennis. Both episodes were just hilarious. I can say "The sky is blue" and some people will feel offended cause they can't see color. Feeling offended is not the same as offending, and they didn't offend anybody.)

Back with a vengeance

This particular episode has sharp edge humour and is deliciously topical. They thrive on making us uncomfortable and that's why this show is stronger than ever. Intelligence, rhetoric and logic is always a way for them to stay on "the good side" of comedy and this episode is a perfect display of all that. Thank you for staying true to your style and keep putting that finger on the pulse.
Mediocre episode

Seems to me they're running out of material. Another Lethal Weapon episode but with none of the edgy homour in the previous episodes..
Some laughs, but definitely not one of their best. Disappointing from such a great show.
I mean, I just couldn't stop laughing!

It was just a great episode of it's always sunny with I think satire that is a lot more biting than the last couple of seasons. I was worried if this would be the season they lose steam, but they just can't stop producing banger after banger.
A fun and clever satire

Just right on the right subject

Dennis dating-scene var SPOT ON! It's exactly like that to date today!
I've heard exactly those lines so many times.
I love it his Sunny takes the most serious subjects and show everyone just how ridiculous they are for us normal people.

THE SHOW HAS ALWAYS BEEN POLITICAL
stuarttheking2 December 2021
It's always sunny has always been a show that is not afraid to cover politics, since the first ever episode they have covered numerous social and topical issues.
This is another example of IASIP taking an issue related to the show in the real world and making a funny and satirical episode on it (similar to the gang tries desperately to win an award).
Not only this but the episode is full of great callbacks to some fan favourite moments and covering something from the current social climate (the changing views of younger generations).

The gang has gone woke
MrPink833 December 2021
Apologising for past episodes?? Political correctness? Sorry thats just not the Gang anymore. The thing that made them funny was they had their own reality of the world, they just didnt care. Now they feel like stand up guys. It feels like a typical liberal sitcom where actors are playing a part.
The fact that so many comments are mentioning for/agaisnt political bias tells me im right. I guess Always sunny ends here.

Dennis' bathroom speech tells you all you need to know
Purple-cookie8720 February 2022
The irony of the arguments in the reviews for this episode seem to be lost on a lot of people.
Yes Sunny has always been political, but in this episode the gang do seem to be more self aware than they've been in the past. Part of the charm of Sunny is that the characters are a*holes and don't seem to realise it. Dennis in particular seemed a little off, especially when they were sat around the pool table discussing the wrongs of the film industry.
But then we get to the scene where they are in the bathroom. They start talking about how rubbish being woke is making their film. And Dennis reveals his motivations. That was my 'ah I get it now' moment.
This episode is on the nose about wokeness and their previous episodes being pulled, but no more so than The Gang Tries Desperately To Win An Award, which is a classic!
Dennis face when he says 'I'm 26' is genius! The subtle facial expressions of all characters in this episode are so good. And for those who are saying it's not quotable anymore can't have listened properly because 'finger on the pulse, finger on the p*ss' is definitely a classic line.
The end part of the episode is classic Sunny and makes the self awareness at the beginning make sense and brings it back to the characters we know and love.

Wonderful

It's great. Hilarious. People who complain about politics don't understand satire. I mean seriously, this episode is funny and meta and has great callbacks. It feels very organically sunny. I'm excited for this season.
Better than most sequels, not as good as six.
lillijag6 December 2021
I need to get help because I was literally laughing out loud watching this and I was alone. Being familiar with Lethal Weapon Six makes this more enjoyable but it has it's own unexpected moments that will trigger some sort of emotion with most viewers. Every reaction will likely be unique just like snowflakes.
NOT A FAN OF THEM DOING AUSTRALIAN FACE
Bartlett9612 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
They've gone too far this time! This episode should be stripped from the records and erased from Hulu all together. Dee playing an Australian character (poorly too) is a bloody disgrace to all us Aussies. I didn't believe it when I saw it that I even had to adjust the boomerang on me roof to see if it was bad reception on the telly. But yeah nah there she is. Even the kangaroos weren't having it!
Do better next time ya drongos!

you need to adjust

People need to understand these guys have been doing the same roles and good comedy for a long time. If you grow up you must realize that is difficult. If you're a thinking person, doing the same thing for that long is torture.
There were moments in these two episodes where i just burst out laughing, and yes a few moments where i didn't or agree with the views they were presenting.
But I'm still happy anyways sunny is on, the best comedy ever imo.

I loved this episode they managed to send hidden messages while still being VERYYY FUNNY. I feel like upcoming episodes will be even better and this was just a heads up of the show not changing. Never stop running this show!
