Stunning first four episodes, lackluster last four
habibbuetbd9 July 2021
I started watching it with moderate expectations. But the first four episodes were absolutely brilliant. Story, buildup and cinematography were superb. But suddenly from 5th episode, the focus and theme of the show completely changed. It looked like we're in another world. Total genre got changed. If Sarwar Farooki detailed on one theme, it would be definitely a fantastic series.

Could be a masterpiece
abdullahaljami10 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Cinematography was quite nice liked it. Dialogue and script was well written. Actors put their best one. Shots were too slow. Unnecessary shots took too much time of an episode. Story was too good but all of this twist was for nothing. Killer was predictable from the beginning of the murder. But as Bangladeshi perspective it was okay i guess. But should say it was Sir Farooki's one of the best. We want more. Keep entertaining us. Love you Sir Farooki.

A complete miss direction.
asif-mahmud1616 July 2021
I have just finished watching the Ladies and Gentleman by Mostafa Sarwar Farooki. I'm not well satisfied as my expectation was too high on this.

I've been watching his work since my childhood and he is the pioneer of this genre of smart story telling. But every time when I finished watching his work, I wasn't satisfied. I felt there were always somethings left untold. And like those previous works of Mr. Farooki, this one has the same problem.

Some of the character development wasn't good enough though. The protagonist Tasnia Farin was below average in term of acting at initial episodes and then he covered his acting. Maria Nur was excellent, so was the veteran Afzal Hossain. I Just loved the acting of Hasan Masud and Mukit Zakaria.

Story was good but I felt dizzy Sometimes. Also I didn't like the shifting of the stories from one genres to others. I have felt watching two different stories with minor intersection. This could have been much better.

Maybe my expectations was way more from the renowned filmmaker. I am happy that he made somethings for his fans after so many years. Hopefully he will continue his endeavor in this OTT arena.

A Misfire From One Of Country's Finest Director
shimantayan26 July 2021
From a feminist angle to a cat and mouse crime thriller, the story turnover is a complete unmatchable. A strong sensitive content & well developed characters gone in vain for nothing in the second part of the series, felt like watching a two dimensional movie. Show could only get better if it did stay on a single storyline rather than some unnecessary side stories and a lengthy police investigation. Acting was sublime, cinematography too but it didn't fill the void of the demand. We all know what Farooki can cook, this is certainly not his best work.

Great Attempt, Worth A Try
rahatkhan-191732 August 2021
Acting and cinematography is standout. All most all the actors and actresses steal the show. I wanted it to be a legal drama. But Farooki twisted the way and turned it into a crime mystery drama. I thought breaking path of story was not needed. First five episodes were pounded with tension, but then it got blistered for the turns of events. But the turns of events hence turned ordinary. The series lost a bit of momentum towards the end. But the last episode was soaked with emotion. Mamunur Rashid gave his carrier defining performances. Afjal Hossain was another master of his work. Acting solely carried the boat towards the bank. Despite, clumsy middle parts ''Ladies and Gentlemen" is worth a try to rediscover the class in acting our veteran actors has.

Misfire!
ikadery9 July 2021
For the first 3 or 4 episodes the story was progressing as Sabila's story and developing a feminist angle, then suddenly after the murder of Khairul, the story backslid into a cheap cat and mouse crime-murder thriller and undone all its promising groundwork. Some dialogues were too superficial, specially in the conversations between Sabila and her husband, these dialogues tried to be too poetic as if they were cut out from a classic novel or something and were devoid of realism.

A total waste of time
friend283815 July 2021
Good thing first:
  • cinematography
  • color grading
  • acting of the actor/actress

Bad things:
  • No story building
  • no twist actually.

  • no moral message
  • the story will demotivate females to protest against bad things.

  • plot was massive to show how to break the taboo in Bangladesh but director rather turns the show to a silly point. So disappointed.

A great web series of Bangladesh
saifulahsan8 August 2021
A great web series.

Specially the characters have been brought to life by the actors, it seemed that the Sabila's family really live in that house in Nakhalpara.

I am fascinated by Tasnia Farin's performance.

Afzal Hossain is impeccable in his character. Mostafa Monwar has always been remarkable. There is nothing new to say about Mamunur Rashid. Director has brought out the best acting from Partha Barua and Maria Noor. In a short time, Sharaf Ahmed has left a mark in the fiction.

Cinematography and background score are the best in one word.

Thanks to Faruki, Tisha and Iresh.

Don't waste your time!
onick1515 July 2021
An average storyline focusing the struggle of women in our country (BD). It could have been easily finished within 2 episodes. You will find unnecessary dragging of story, lack of dialogues, even poor acting by majority of the artists as well. Utterly disappointed with Farooki's direction.

The only 3 stars are for nice camera work, cinematography and, pure acting by the senior artists (Afzal & Mamun).

Waste of time!
rhtareq23 January 2022
Why I gave 1 star? I felt likes I wasted few hours for nothing.

I am not sure what farooki tried to do here, very poor ending. And I had to force myself to watch till the end.

First 2-3 episodes were interesting after that I couldn't take anything, there were lots of unnecessary stuff that could have been avoided.

Only good part was acting but you can't watch good acting without good stories!

After deth of Afzal Hossain, it become an extremely weak detective story. Guest carector Chanchal Chowdhury is really unnecessary. But Afzal, is doing nice job.

Very dull and disconnected
handymoth-2803829 July 2021
Watched very few Bangladeshi serials. Is this how all serials are generally made? Why the presentation and acting is so dull? Actors, except for the lead actress, need to show some energy and enthusiasm. Antagonist role is very weak. Editing is so slow, you can skip 2 minutes of every scene and you will not miss any details. Writer seems to be very confused. The plot starts with a woman empowerment message, but becomes a murder mystery in the second half. With lot of options available on OTT I'll definitely give this a miss.

Waste of Time
sanzidanishissmc14 May 2024
Unnecessary slow. If you have enough time you can watch it. I literally watched it with 2x speed. Even with 2x it seemed slow to me. I would not recommend it. Total waste of time!

The genre shift was sudden. Unnecessary content just to make the series long.

Too many good actor actress but waste of talent. The cinematography and color grading was excellent but for lack of story and the story telling spoiled every good part of it.

Farooki is one of the prominent and talented creator of 2000s, but his last few creations made me disappointed. I only rated and reviewed it only to creat awareness so that no one else waste their time watching this. I literally became toxic after watching it. Its not worth investing time into this.

Ladies and Gentlemen, on Zee5, is a Compelling and Complex #MeToo Story from Bangladesh
shefali-5924417 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's Ladies and Gentleman is a #MeToo story hijacked midway by a murder mystery. I use the word "hijacked" because the transition seems unfair, even dishonest, as if the natural flow of the story has been disrupted: Sabila (Tasnia Farin), a woman working in the Bangladesh cultural department, is molested by her boss; she fights for justice through a system that is both rigged against her and not yet evolved enough to tackle cases of sexual assault. Then something happens; it prompts the show to change tracks and shift its entire focus on to something else: from Will Sabila get Justice? It becomes all about Who Killed X? Of course, it all evens out in the end, or does it? By denying us the catharsis we want as an audience, Farooki wants to make a bigger statement-there is no justice for women like Sabila, not even in the movies.
