Decent start to the series. I am hesitantly liking the 2 timeframes, hints at a different course for the show then the movie. The 2 leads do a decent job, I'm not familiar with the male leads work but Lizzy Caplan is an excellent actress and I hope she gets a chance to shine with the Alex craziness. The daughter storyline looks like an interesting take and the young actress is expressing the mixed feelings she has over her father quite well. Amanda Peet hasn't been fleshed out, yet so we'll see with her. I think the thing that is missing is the motivation of the man to pursue an affair-he seems to be a together guy with a great wife and kid. No sign of the damaged arrogance that Douglas brought to the movie and Caplan's character too seems to have her stuff together. The chemistry between the leads is good, but again, I just don't see how the relationship should occur. He seems happily married and she is not coming across as unstable. Hopefully the story will flesh that out as it proceeds. Am hopeful as the product is good, the actors all seem quality, the atmosphere could use a little tension, but that may come and the new story elements-the man with his job and the daughter seems promising.
