The Big Bang Theory has only been off the air for four years thus far, but after 12 seasons it’s hard to imagine the cast as anything other than the beloved characters they played for over a decade. While some actors have chosen to take it easy in the years since Bbt ended, others have gone full-speed ahead into roles that are wildly different from the characters we know them as.
Across film and television, here are the Big Bang Theory cast’s best post-Big Bang roles.
Johnny Galecki – The Conners
Johnny Galecki hasn’t done much since The Big Bang Theory ended, but having a child a few months before a global pandemic changes the world as we know it is as good an excuse as any. Barbie may be everything, and Ken is just Ken, but what about the people in the Real World they meet along the way? Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, based on the popular dolls, is a hyper-stylized take on the Mattel toys that sees the titular doll journey from Barbie Land to the Real World on a quest of self-discovery.
This movie definitely looks the part, but it wouldn’t be what it is without its incredible all-star cast full of award-winning actors and familiar faces. Here’s what you need to know about the Barbie characters and the actors who play them.

Peacock‘s true crime scripted comedy series Based on a True Story cliffhanger just got another cliffhanger because if the series returns for season 2, actor Alex Alomar Akpobome says mysterious mansion hunter Ryan’s job and background will be revealed – plus his character will become intertwined with everyone else.
“If we do a second season, Craig (Rosenberg), the creator told me how (Ryan’s) background and life will feed into the narrative for the other characters,” Akpobome dished with Showbiz Cheat Sheet.
“Which would heighten their circumstance and rev everything up to a very fun and exciting level. But currently, we don’t know his job,” he teased. “And that’s again, I think to a degree intentional because the goal is to do more because the story wasn’t finished. I think there was quite a cliffhanger.”

It will be a surprise to no one that LeBron James is setting records. Not only is he the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, but the new film “Shooting Stars” — which chronicles the life-long friendships that he built with his high school basketball team at Akron’s St. Vincent-St. Mary high school —is now breaking records for the Peacock streaming service. According to Deadline, the film has become the most viewed original movie on Peacock during its first four weeks on the platform.

Who said the rom-com was dead? The most lovable genre gets a modern-day makeover with a host of title from the past year in film: remakes of classics like Father of the Bride, adaptations of European literature with Fire Island, and wholly fresh ideas like Somebody I Used to Know, written by real-life couple Alison Brie and Dave Franco. Though Valentine’s Day is still a long way’s off, there’s never a bad time to buy yourself a box of chocolates, call over some girlfriends, and indulge in the peaks and pitfalls of others’ love lives. Check out these five films, all available for streaming, as you plan your next night in.

HBO’s upcoming series The Idol has gone through at least one major creative overhaul since it was announced, with co-creator Amy Seimetz leaving the show in April 2022. Euphoria’s Sam Levinson and Abel Tesfaye (The Weeknd) then took over as creators for the series, reshaping it to fit their vision and the version of the show set to premiere June 4, 2023.
We don’t know much about the series, other than HBO’s official logline that reads “After a nervous breakdown derailed Jocelyn’s (Lily-Rose Depp) last tour, she’s determined to claim her rightful status as the greatest and sexiest pop star in America. Her passions are reignited by Tedros (Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye), a nightclub impresario with a sordid past. Will her romantic awakening take her to glorious new heights or the deepest and darkest depths of her soul?”

Pete Davidson knows a thing or two about reputation preceding reality.
Since his “Saturday Night Live” debut in 2014, Davidson has carved a niche playing extensions or exaggerated versions of himself, whether it’s “The King of Staten Island,” “Bodies Bodies Bodies,” or the rom-com “Meet Cute.” “Bupkis,” the Peacock comedy created by Davidson, Judah Miller, and Dave Sirus, dials Pete Davidson — the idea, not the actual person — up to 1000, accepting him as an entity unto himself.
As that heightened version of himself, Pete lives in Staten Island with his mother (Edie Falco) and hangs out with his mostly good-for-nothing friends. His cantankerous grandfather (Joe Pesci) gives him a rude awakening in the premiere, telling his grandson to stop being so selfish and do something for someone else once in a while — with disastrous results.

Pete Davidson's trip back to Studio 8H is likely getting delayed. The former "Saturday Night Live" cast member was set to become a first-time host of the sketch series on May 6. The long-running NBC show tweeted the news on April 15, alongside the announcement that Lil Uzi Vert would be the night's musical guest. Unfortunately, due to the Writers Guild of America writers' strike, "Saturday Night Live" is one of the shows expected to be affected and experience a shutdown. Deadline reported that a formal decision is expected to come later this week.
The former cast member's hosting gig was timed to the upcoming premiere of his semi-autobiographical Peacock series, "Bupkis." Davidson was part of the "SNL" cast for eight seasons until his departure in 2022. At the time, he left to pursue a career in movies. So there's this guy called Pete Davidson — perhaps you've heard of him? You might be familiar with the fact that he's dated countless beautiful, talented women. Arden Cho is embracing life’s imperfections with her latest gig.
The Teen Wolf alum has landed a starring role in audio rom-com series Imperfect Match, set to launch May 2. The project hails from entertainment company Meet Cute, which focuses on scripted romantic comedies in the audio format.
Imperfect Match centers on Violet Kang (Cho), a celebrity matchmaker tasked with the formidable assignment of finding a partner for playboy billionaire Dante Gargano, who runs the leading dating app Cache-You. When Dante crunches the analytics and realizes that his own ideal match is nowhere to be found on his app, he enlists Violet’s help, presenting her with the daunting challenge of setting up the impossibly cynical bachelor.
“I had so much fun doing this audio rom-com, especially with a script as smart as this one,” said Cho about the series that Meet Cute describes as You’ve Got Mail crossed with Emily in Paris.

Thomas Haden Church in Acidman. Courtesy of Brainstorm Media
Thomas Haden Church gives a striking performance as a reclusive eccentric who is tentatively reconnecting with his grown daughter, in the character-drive indie drama Acidman. After a breakout role in Sideways and a career of well-drawn character parts in a host of films, it is nice to see Thomas Haden Church get a leading part, albeit in a small indie film like Acidman, in a performance that may be his career best.
“Acidman,” graffiti painted in large orange letters on the side of a trailer deep in the woods, is the sight that greets Maggie (Dianna Agron) when she arrives looking for her father Lloyd (Thomas Haden Church). It is the nickname that local teens have given the solitary, oddball Lloyd, who is the object of rumors and their pranks, like defacing his trailer. Maggie has driven a long way to...

"He thinks very highly of himself." Brainstorm Media has revealed an official trailer for an indie film titled Acidman, the latest from filmmaker Alex Lehmann - who also debuted another film, Meet Cute, last year. This film premiered at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival and is finally available an enitre year later. Maggie tracks down her estranged father Lloyd, now living in the Oregon wilderness obsessed with UFOs; together they attempt to make first contact. It stars Thomas Haden Church and Dianna Agron, with Sameerah Luqmaan-Harris and a doggie. This seems a like a rather sweet story about how the UFO nut dude isn't actually that crazy and might actually have some nice life lessons to offer us. Looks like a good indie! Enjoy. // Continue Reading ›...

Meet Cute is a romantic comedy starring Kaley Cuoco and Pete Davidson. It is directed by Alexandre Lehmann, and the screenplay is written by Noga Pnueli.
Love in a time travel merry-go-round.
Premise
A woman has found a way to travel to the past and makes use of it to perfect her date with her potential soulmate.
Meet Cute (2022) Movie Review
Has something shifted in Hollywood, bringing about new cinematic styles? That is precisely the question I ask myself having watched ‘Meet Cute’. True to its title, it is a sweet (and I say it without condescension) story that handles its characters with great care and shows the most tender, almost adorable sides of people, and their imperfections. I couldn’t help but think of the recent hit movie ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once‘, which also applies that fantastical element to tell a contemporary human story.

Amy Sedaris is to star in Christmasuzannukkah for the company, which was set up by Naomi Shah. It is the latest project for the company, which recently launched A Mid-Semester Night’s Dream with Bridgerton star Charithra Chandran.
Christmasuzannukkah, which launches on December 6, follows Noah, who has never loved the holidays. His mom, Suzanne (Sedaris), is a well-known journalist who, come the holidays, is never not baking a cake or building a wreath or wrapping a present in an effort to avoid intimacy with her children. His sister, Sam, is always on some social justice crusade that makes him feel like a bad person.
Bracing himself for another lonely holiday surrounded by shouting people, Noah meets a handsome stranger at the General Store on his way into town: Eric. When Eric stops by the house, Suzanne invites him to dinner.

Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki's onscreen chemistry as Penny and Leonard on "The Big Bang Theory" came from a very real place. In an excerpt from the forthcoming book "The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series" shared by Vanity Fair on Oct. 3, Cuoco opened up about her previous crush on Galecki.
"I was so not even hiding it," she said, per Vanity Fair. "He has such swagger. We were both dating people at the time, but I only had eyes for Johnny.'" Neither actor has definitively confirmed who they were with romantically at the time the show began, though Cuoco briefly dated Al Santos in 2007, the first year "The Big Bang Theory" aired. But despite their outstanding relationships, their attraction refused to fade. "It was obvious there was always something there," Cuoco said. "There was chemistry and we were crushing on each other.

The Big Bang Theory creator Chuck Lorre has responded to claims made by his actors that they were made to perform more sex scenes after they broke up in real life.
Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki played main characters Penny and Leonard for 12 years on the long-running sitcom about a geeky American friendship group.
A running theme throughout the show was a will-they-won’t-they romance between Penny and Leonard, which transferred off-screen between 2008 and 2010 when the actors developed a real-life romance.
Since the show ended in 2019, Cuoco and Galecki have both suggested that Lorre “f***ed with” the two of them by increasing the number of intimate scenes they shared after their breakup.
“When we broke up obviously it was a little sensitive for a minute, but I remember those weeks that Chuck had written these episodes where all of a sudden our characters were like sleeping together every other second,...

There was something about this that was unique,” Cuoco told The Hollywood Reporter at Meet Cute‘s New York premiere last week. “And when I heard Pete [Davidson] was attached, I was like, ‘This is such an interesting, kind of a different type of film.’ And honestly it’s really sweet, and it brings a lot of joy.”

“We’ve seen romantic comedies and time travel; we’ve done all of that.

There’s no meet cute in “Meet Cute,” which is kind of the point. The film, which takes its name from the romantic comedy trope wherein two people meet in an unusual, makes-for-a-good-story kind of way that rarely happens in real life, owes as much if not more to “Groundhog Day” as it does to “When Harry Met Sally…” Kaley Cuoco and Pete Davidson are the would-be couple in Alex Lehmann’s time-loop rom-com, which could have just as easily been named “500 First Dates” for its portrayal of a lovesick woman on a monomaniacal quest to get things just right. The movie itself is more freewheeling than its heroine, deriving much of its charm from a performance that’s well rehearsed on several levels.

Months after Pete Davidson’s nine-month relationship with Kim Kardashian ended, the Saturday Night Live star is back in the spotlight once again with his new romantic comedy, Meet Cute, starring alongside Kaley Cuoco.
Premiering September 21 on Peacock, the new movie isn’t your typical rom-com, and follows Cuoco’s character Sheila and Davidson’s Gary as the duo that — you guessed it — has their very own meet-cute. But as it turns out, this isn’t exactly your usual run-in. Naturally, there’s a time machine involved.

Kaley Cuoco and Pete Davidson were looking stylish for the New York premiere of their new film Meet Cute which is coming to Peacock. The satirical rom-com follows Cuoco as a single New Yorker Shelia who discovers a time machine and uses it to continuously retry moments of a date the night before with a guy named Gary (Davidson).
Davidson and Cuoco showed more chemistry even on the red carpet by talking and laughing before the premiere. Davidson wore a comfy-looking hoodie with green sweatpants, while Cuoco stunned in a dazzling silver and gold sequined dress cut like a blazer.
Cuoco also recently appeared in the action comedy film The Man From Toronto and picked up her second Emmy nomination for her lead performance in The Flight Attendant. Davidson just departed Saturday Night Live this Spring and has also appeared in Bodies Bodies Bodies and as the title character in the critically-panned 2022 animation Marmaduke.
