Cute Movie As a Rare Network TV Movie
shelbythuylinh13 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I hope there is a sequel as that over in Jessica Camacho as a chef who hopes to have her own food trucks and that she was laid off on a job as she reluctantly agrees to propose as the girlfriend of lawyer Adam Rodriguez so he can get a promotion at his father's law firm.

And that he feels that he is always slighted by his much more "successful" younger brother that is a family man but he has his own secrets.

But it is complicated as real sparks begins to get it much more thrown into gear. Will they or won they? To impress their own families. Hope there is a sequel.

Welcome to the party, Paramount!
sheryl-watkins17 December 2021
As a longtime Hallmark Christmas movie fan, I'm happy to see a little competition. I liked the Hallmark movies better when they did just a few movies a season. They were fresher. Now that they put them out factory-style, it's harder to find the gems among dozens of offerings.

"A Christmas Proposal" was refreshing, even though it did borrow from Hallmark plots (fake relationship, sibling rivalry, a Christmas ball where all is revealed); it was reminiscent of "Snow Bride."

The cast was great. The diversity was organic; Hispanic actors in an Hispanic family story.

Definitely worth watching, even though you now have to stream it on Paramount+ (clever marketing to attract new viewers, since the same movies aren't shown over and over again).

I look forward to more offerings, and hope the competition inspires Hallmark.

First watch in progress
richie-4245213 December 2021
I like the story. I am only half way through watching but I like the way it is progressing.

I am anxious to see how it finishes. The lead characters are very charming and I am hoping that they do end up together. I have a hunch who "Brooklyn" may end up with (2 different ones actually). Only 30 minutes of the movie to go so it has my attention.

Cute (but not overly sweet) family holiday movie
vchimpanzee13 December 2021
This movie fits the usual formula for a Hallmark Christmas movie. I don't want to spend the extra money for that channel and don't have the time to watch lots of movies like this, but the fact is I enjoy these movies.

And it doesn't matter that people are lying and could get in trouble for it later on. That's part of the fun.

And yes, there are plenty of "only in the movies" moments. Who wants to see real life if they don't have to?

The most important thing is Maria will make these people's lives so much better if they let her.

Jessica Camacho is not my ideal female lead in a movie like this, but she is quite beautiful, and while not cute, she is intelligent and confident. Not the traditional cute potential romantic partner, but of course as in so many of these movies, she is shocked at first by the idea that she would ever be with this man. She looks amazing in a ball gown.

I'm not that crazy about Adam Rodriguez either but he's good enough and someone I am willing to root for.

Luisa d'Oliveira as the best friend is just edgy enough and appealing in her own way. And I really like her festive pajamas in one scene. Are they beautiful? As a sweater, the design might be an "ugly holiday sweater".

Bianca Caroca is quire appealing as Julian's sister.

And I like Jaime M. Callica, Julian's friend, who I thought was Alfonso Ribeiro at first.

Frank Crudele is very appealing as the man who runs one of the family's favorite restaurants.

I also liked Serge Houde as the man who runs ... wait ... Pendergast Tool? Didn't Archie Bunker (of New York City) work there? This is Washington, but it is a big company. There must be a story there because Pendergast is not an ordinary name.

Renee Taylor has one line as a server in another restaurant but she does it so well.

Julian found "The Nutcracker" to be torture. At first. I'm not saying I like ballet, but I like the music. The part of the ballet that was shown, while well done of course, did not have the familiar music. What I recall is that my father's LP has two sides, one with all the music we know, and another with less familiar music. I will assume the music in this movie was from the other side.

Is this family friendly? It was rated TV-G on CBS, very unusual in 2021. The most offensive content I was aware of was "shove it up their Christmas stocking" and "nutcracker of a comment", so nothing too serious. Daphne, Juiian's sister, described coming out as gay to her parents, but in 2021 this is perfectly fine in G-rated content, though maybe not for everyone. I don't think Daphne's being gay was ever mentioned again.

Is this a movie you want to watch? I can't speak for those who have Hallmark Channel and watch lots of them, but if you can only choose a few, this is one you can surely enjoy.

The Best Christmas Movie of 2021!
gail-laferriere28 December 2021
I love Christmas movies, but this one rose above all the others. The characters were believable; the story line was interesting and had depth; the dialogue was interesting, witty, and fun;, and I was glued to the television. I loved every minute!

Awful
dfdzyt26 November 2022
Another awful hallmark-esque movie with terrible acting and a comically unbelievable script. Right from the cringe-worthy beginning you can tell how bad it's going to be. I'm inclined to think based on the script and wholesomeness that this was written with Christian values in mind, not that that it's a bad thing, but it will give you an idea of what you're getting yourself into. For any of us living in the real world you will be sorely disappointed. If you were to play it off as a satire you might be able to laugh off a bit of it or possibly turn it into a drinking game? Please do yourself a favor and avoid this at all costs.

Summary: Absolutely terrible.

Had to stop watching did not care for the Narrating throughout the movie, ridiculous! Would have enjoyed if I could have continued without NARRATING the entire movie, was not needed at all.

Medium Well Done
philsigler-6240113 December 2021
Actors were well done. The script , however, was not breezy conversational. The plot called for breezy but the dialogue played a bit arch and stilted. That said it had a Happy Ending and who can overly criticize anything in these times that "proposes" such.

Well done, CBS
Ekm82851110 July 2022
I hope CBS continues to make Christmas movies because I loved A Christmas Proposal! The chemistry between Adam Rodriguez and Jessica Camacho (LOVE her on All Rise!) was great and I enjoy the pretend-to-be-my-girlfriend storylines. I also loved the diversity that this movie showcased. Funny, beautiful holiday sets and a great cast!

Great movie, good chemistry between the actors, really enjoyed it!

I used my Amazon credits to buy this movie, I have never done that. This is a cute "Harlequin" type romance. The actors are great to watch, there is chemistry between the two main characters and I LOVE Brooklyn. Definitely a clean, lovely little movie that makes you feel good.

A heart-warming charm
sethaaron14 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It's a heart-warming movie touching on the importance of family and what can get in the way. Jessica Camacho is the star! I love that this is family friendly, not too intense and a good get-away flick. SPOILER I wish the title didn't give away the end, I was just waiting for it the whole time!

Decent Holiday Movie
blueoysterdvp18 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It was better than expected. I watched it on the Paramount App the day after it was on CBS. All the commercials were removed on the app. Only 1hr 27mins long in length now. Many borrowed stereotypes from other Christmas and love stories. Very enjoyable but a lot of saccharine is mixed in. My wife really enjoyed it. Movies like this are bound to have similarities to the classics.

Best Christmas movie in a while!!
wyfptbmhm8 January 2023
I enjoyed this movie Tremendously The actors portrayed the storyline perfectly, meeting by chance the way they did,The characters in the storyline seemed real and how they pulled the lead female character into the story her trying to return the cell phone was very different, and it was heartfelt. It's the best Christmas movie I've seen in a while. I like how the writer's changed it up. The characters in the storyline seemed real and It held my attention Because it was different and exciting. I would watch this movie again. It is a feel-good movie, perfect for this time of year! I wish there were another movie out there similar to this that I could watch.
