The next chapter of Rian Johnson’s Knives Out film series, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, is sharpening with exciting additions to the cast. After announcing co-stars like Josh O’Connor, Cailee Spaeny, and Andrew Scott, Daniel Craig’s Kentucky-fried detective, Benoit Blanc, is poised to cross paths with Kerry Washington in the upcoming Knives Out mystery. Washing joins the expanding cast, with Rian Johnson directing and writing the third installment of the murder mystery saga.
Plot details remain scarce, though it’s safe to assume more intriguing stars will join the cast in the coming weeks. The first film in the series, Knives Out, occurred in a stately manor and revolved around a corrupt and toxic family’s dark secrets and desires. In contrast, the second chapter, Glass Onion, finds Benoit Blanc traveling to a remote island to disrupt a posh dinner party with murder on the menu.

After months of almost complete silence, the Knives Out franchise makes a grand comeback to the news field with lots of pretty exciting updates.
Last week, Netflix finally dropped the first teaser for the franchise’s third installment that is now titled Wake Up Dead Man and will presumably cover Benoit Blanc’s most dangerous case ever. Fans haven’t even had enough time to explore the teaser and find some Easter eggs when the upcoming movie suddenly got its cast ensemble and once again broke the news.
Apart from all the other actors, Wake Up Dead Man will feature a major star, and his previous big roles may become some sort of hint for what he will be like in the future film.
According to Variety’s reports, Wake Up Dead Man has just added Andrew Scott to its main cast, which already includes The Crown’s Josh O’Connor and Priscilla’s Cailee Spaeny.

When the original Knives Out movie was released by Lionsgate in 2019, the whodunnit starring Daniel Craig as the southern P.E. Benoit Blanc, was either doomed to fail or become a smashing success. The latter happened, as the ensemble cast full of big names made Knives Out one of the best films of the year, ending up with numerous accolades and nominations, with many going so far as to claim that it had revived the whodunnit genre. The sequel, Glass Onion, was also well-received, but more because of its political and social messages than for the plot, which was more or less feeble and unworthy of the original. But, what is important is that Glass Onion also featured an ensemble cast, and it seems that the upcoming third movie, Wake Up Dead Man, will also follow in these footsteps.

Update: Andrew Scott, most recently seen in All Of Us Strangers and Netflix's Ripley, is also now confirmed by Variety as joining the cast.
Just last week, we learned the title of Rian Johnson's latest Knives Out mystery — Wake Up Dead Man. The writer/director didn't share any casting, but word has since arrived (initially via What's On Netflix and since confirmed by the trades) that the first two pieces of the ensemble around returning veteran Daniel Craig have been locked in: Challengers' Josh O'Connor and Priscilla's Cailee Spaeny.
Beyond that, the information is basically nil — we don't know, for example what sort of mystery the drawlin' detective Benoit Blanc (Craig) will be digging into this time, nor do we know exactly where (rumours have pointed to a least shooting in London).
The Knives Out movies have always boasted eclectic ensembles, with Ana de Armas, Chris Evans and...

Rian Johnson's Benoit Blanc detective series continues to be one of the hottest tickets for working actors, as proven by the most recent bit of casting news for the follow-up to "Glass Onion." According to Deadline, "Challengers" and "La Chimera" star Josh O'Connor will appear in the upcoming mystery movie, which we recently learned will feature the excellent title "Wake Up Dead Man." Mystery films are always a treat to watch as viewers get to put on their own thinking hats and try to solve the mystery along with the detectives. Rian Johnson’s Knives Out franchise has got to be one of the best in the genre with the modernization of the “whodunit” films. Starring Daniel Craig in the lead role of private detective Benoit Blanc, both Knives Out and its sequel Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery were extremely well-received by both fans and critics.

Josh O’Connor and Cailee Spaeny are reportedly in talks to join Daniel Craig in the ensemble for Rian Johnson’s next Knives Out film, Wake Up Dead Man.
Considering the exorbitant amount that Netflix paid Rian Johnson to make two Knives Out sequels, it figures that we have to see at least some of that reported $400m on the screen. What’s on Netflix berichtet.
Teil zwei der Reihe, „Glass Onion“, feierte 2022 bei Netflix Premiere, nachdem der Streamer die beiden „Knives Out“-Sequels für die Rekordsumme von 450 Mio. Dollar gekauft hatte.

Josh O’Connor and Cailee Spaeny are joining Daniel Craig in the upcoming Knives Out 3 sequel, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Last week, writer and director Rian Johnson confirmed on X, formerly Twitter, that Craig would be reprising his role as Benoit Blanc in the next ensemble murder mystery film. In a 45-second video teaser video, he also revealed the sequel’s title as Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.

Update: Well, that didn’t take long. In the few days since Rian Johnson announced he was making a third Knives Out movie, Wake Up Dead Man, two cast members have already been announced – and they’re buzzy. Fresh off of his role in Challengers, Josh O’Connor jumps into the latest whodunit, along with Priscilla, Civil War and Alien: Romulus star Cailee Spaeny. Of course, they’re just the first two in what’s bound to be another star-studded cast. Expect the rest of the cast to be revealed soon, as pretty much everyone wants to be in these movies, so I imagine Rian Johnson has his pick.

It all started in 2019 when Lionsgate released Knives Out. At the time, director Rian Johnson was not beloved by many because of his polarizing work on Star Wars: The Last Jedi, so the movie was sort of an attempt at redemption for the filmmaker. Starring Daniel Craig as the southern P.E. Benoit Blanc, the film was a whodunnit that featured an ensemble cast, and it was either doomed to fail or become a smashing success. The latter happened, as Knives Out became one of the best films of the year, ending up with numerous accolades and nominations, with many going so far as to claim that it had revived the whodunnit genre.

“Jesus, Jesus help me,” sings Bono, front man of the classic Irish rock band U2. “I’m alone in this world, and a fucked up world it is too.” Even though U2 fans had long grown used to Bono’s mixture of Christian faith and endless ennui by the time the band released the techno-infused album Pop in 1997, the frankness displayed in the song “Wake Up Dead Man” shocked and dismayed listeners.
Alongside the playful dance track “Discothèque” and sultry numbers such as “The Playboy Mansion” and “If You Wear That Red Dress,” “Wake Up Dead Man” had a raw honesty that U2 hadn’t shown since their anthemic hit records The Unforgettable Fire and The Joshua Tree. Since 1991’s Achtung Baby, U2 had abandoned their earnest approach for postmodern games that commented upon the Death of God by embracing and satirizing secular capitalism. Yet with “Wake Up Dead Man,...

"Knives Out" was an anomaly. The 2019 film was a mid-budget movie with a fantastic cast of recognizable names that nevertheless did not bank on one specific A-lister, became a huge hit with audiences and critics alike, and became a franchise organically rather than planning sequels before the first even debuted. Of course, it helps that the film had a compelling and simple premise, a great comedic tone, a director with a clear vision, and delightful characters, including the once-in-a-decade great Benoit Blanc.
Rian Johnson's murder mysteries take inspiration from Agatha Christie novels, "Columbo," and even underseen 1970s murder mysteries to deliver compelling stories that — much like Christie's work — use archetypal characters to comment on issues of today. After looking at Radiohead for inspiration for the first movie's title and The Beatles for inspiration for the title of "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery," Johnson is rounding out this trilogy by looking at U2.

Netflix is making it all pretty much complicated for Knives Out 3 the production of which is set to start later this year.
Directed by Ryan Johnson once again, the third installment starring Daniel Craig as quirky yet brilliant detective Benoit Blanc will hit the streaming service just like its predecessor, Glass Onion, in 2025 earliest.
Though so far the mystery trilogy had no competitors of the same league letting itself thrive amid everyone’s wild enthusiasm, things may turn out to be very different due to Netflix’s recently announced new movie.
Having a wholly changed facade, the upcoming murder mystery film The Thursday Murder Club still shares a lot with Knives Out, even its possible release time. The movie based on Richard Osman’s novel of the same name will follow a group of elderly people lucky enough to spend the rest of their life in a sumptuous retirement village.

It looks like Rian Johnson will be filming Knives Out 3 at the end of the year, with Daniel Craig back as Benoit Blanc.
A week or two back, writer/producer/director Rian Johnson – and his producing partner Ram Bergman – inked a new two-picture deal with Warner Bros. Rian Johnson and producer Ram Bergman are the latest to sign up for some of Warner Bros’ cash: more here.
Given Warner Bros Discovery has had its back against the wall for much of the last year or two, it was bound to try something to get out of the pickle it found itself in. In this case, the plan? Spend, and spend on talent.
Warner Bros – outside of Barbie – has become known as the studio that likes to delete completed films, and it ain’t a good look when trying to attract filmmakers. Still, the old-fashioned chequebook still seems to work, and over the past few months, the studio has inked expensive deals with the likes of Margot Robbie, Ryan Coogler and Tom Cruise.
The immediate priority for director Rian Johnson and regular producer Ram Bergman is their third Knives Out film, for which they’re committed to make for Netflix.

Benoit Blanc will return to solve another bizarre case in Knives Out 3 which will reportedly film later this year. More here.
Rian Johnson and Daniel Craig are preparing to return to the wonderful world of Benoit Blanc.
Collider reports that cameras are rolling on the third instalment of Johnson’s riotously fun franchise later this year. Craig will return to play the master sleuth and Netflix is backing the film as it did Glass Onion.
That’s really all there is to this story. We have no casting news or even a title for the new whodunnit. We expect it won’t be called Knives Out 3; Knives Out 2 became Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery so expect something similar for the third film.
In October 2023, Johnson did confirm that he was working on the script for Knives Out 3, but work was disrupted by the writers’ strike.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery debuted last year, but the WGA strike obviously forced writer/director Rian Johnson to pump the brakes on the next installment. However, now that the strike is over, Johnson is back to work on Knives Out 3 and told The Wrap that he’s got the premise nailed down.
“It’s coming along. I obviously couldn’t work during the strike, and now that it’s over, I’m diving in full force, and so it’s coming along,” Rian Johnson said. “I’ve got the premise, I’ve got the setting, I’ve got what the movie is in my head. It’s just a matter of writing the damn thing.“

After several months of negotiation, writer-director Rian Johnson signed a deal with Netflix for two follow-up films. The first of these sequels, "Glass Onion," premiered in theaters in September 2022. However, little is known about the forthcoming third film, tentatively titled "Knives Out 3."
Now, the second film in this franchise featured an almost entirely different cast of characters with a totally new mystery to solve. At the center of both films is Benoit Blanc, a Cajun private eye played by Daniel Craig. Given that each entry in the series will present a totally new story, fans are left with very little information to speculate on. Between the writer's strike eating up most of...
