Depending on how you look at it, director Steve Barker's The Rezort can be deemed pretty cool or somewhat disappointing, but I'm here to tell you that it's six of one and half a dozen of the other. Being a huge fan of Barker's Nazi zombie flick Outpost and its sequel Outpost: Black Sun, I had high hopes for this one, and I wasn’t let down...too much.
The Rezort has a very promising premise, but it’s never used to its full potential, and the film quickly devolves into your run-of-the-mill – albeit hugely entertaining - zombie/action thriller.

A team of fearless Russian Spetsnaz unearth details of the shocking research being taken out by the Nazis. Before they’re able to report on this discovery, the Spetsnaz are savagely captured by the Nazis and detained at an underground facility. It’s revealed that the Nazis are scientifically developing an invincible army of undead soldiers to unleash upon the unsuspecting Allies. As we often do, especially when dealing with Part 3s that originate from outside of North America, we'll open with a recap. Outpost (2007) gave us some modern-day mercenaries who stumble across an undead creature that's been waiting for victims since WWII. Outpost 2: Black Sun (2012) focused on a platoon of Nato experts who respond to the previous carnage -- which leads to even more carnage. The second chapter gave us a few glimpses of the WWII origins of the Nazi Zombie Stormtrooper Monsters...
... but it's Outpost 3: Rise of the Spetsnaz (2014) that takes us back to 1945 and offers a fitfully amusing prequel to this progressively sillier indie horror franchise. As a horror junkie who sort of enjoyed the first two Outpost flicks, even I'll have to admit that Part 3 is probably the weakest of the lot, but screenwriter Rae Brunton, who co-wrote the previous chapters, has just enough ideas to...

You may have overlooked the 2008 Scottish offering known as Outpost, but seeing as it played multiple genre-friendly film festivals, stars Ray Stevenson, and earned some decent praise from the horror press (myself included), I'm going to assume that FEARnet readers have seen it by now. (It's about a group of soldiers who discover a nasty old Nazi experiment and do not live to regret it.) Those who enjoyed that flick will be pleased to know that not only is there an Outpost 2 available now, but there will soon be a third chapter. For the sake of this review, we'll focus on Steve Barker's Outpost: Black Sun.
Right off the bat I'm tempted to give Outpost: Black Sun a break because of one simple reason: it offers a potentially ridiculous premise, but it does so with a grim tone and an admirably straight face. A sequel that deals with "Nazi...

This week XLrator Media released the Nazi zombie-themed Outpost: Black Sun, the sequel to Steve Barker's 2008 indie flick Outpost, which found moderate success during its home release worldwide.
Outpost: Black Sun follows a young woman named Lena (Catherine Steadman), who has spent most of her life hunting down notorious Nazi war criminals. During an expedition to Eastern Europe, Lena stumbles upon Wallace (Richard Coyle), a friendly but mysterious ally who shares in her desire to chase down the deadly Nazi secrets that Klausener is keeping hidden deep beneath the Earth in an old wartime bunker.

Since everyone loves Nazi Zombies as much as I do, I am thrilled to talk about two upcoming Nazi Zombie movies that look more than promising. Exciting is an understatement, even.
Today, Dark Sky Films released the first two official stills from Dutch director Richard Raaphorst’s Nazi Zombie horror film Frankenstein's Army.
This is someone called “Propellerhead”, described officially as "a hulking Nazi automaton that uses its spinning rotors to slice a bloody swath through the film’s terrified, lost Russian battalion."
And this is Doctor Frankenstein, as played by Karel Roden, dissecting someone unwilling to be dissected.
Like any good Nazi Zombie movie, Frankenstein's Army is set at the tail-end of World War II, when Russian soldiers accidentally find a secret Nazi laboratory as they enter Germany's eastern end. Apparently, the journals of Dr. Viktor Frankenstein are serving as the basis for human experimentation to form a -...

You probably don’t remember Outpost from a few years back and there isn’t really any reason why you should. It was the very definition of average and told the tale of a gang of mercenary’s in a war-torn European country coming up against undead hordes of Nazis.
Despite the premise and the popularity of Nazi Zombies (probably because we get to kill them again) the film never came alive the way it should have done and was overshadowed by the much better Dead Snow around the same time. So understandably hopes were not high for a straight to DVD sequel to a film that was average at best and got a limited release in the first place. Even more ominous was the fact that the film has retained the original writer and director Steve Barker. Surprisingly Outpost: Black Sun manages to be a far better film than...

Outpost: Black Sun features a mad scientist trying to create an elite squad of Nazi soldiers, and it's up to one war crimes investigator and a Nato task force to stop him. Will they be successful? If its previous installment, Outpost, or the already announced Outpost 3 is any idication, we can only assume yes. Thanks to Bloody Disgusting for the trailer!

Richard Coyle is currently the hardest working actor in the UK. The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time star has made four movies back-to-back beginning with the Madonna directed two-tiered time shift romance W.E. , rumored to be opening the Venice Film Festival. Then came the monster movie comedy Grabbers , and now he's just completed the British Pusher remake playing the central drug-dealer character trying to escape East End London gangsters. Between Grabbers and Pushers he starred in Steve Barker's Outpost: Black Sun , the sequel to the same director's 2008 Outpost . "There were three things I always wanted to do when I was a kid," says Coyle from the Pusher set. "Play a spaceman, make a zombie movie, and kill some Nazis. So far no...

Ao reported on the sequel to Outpost, which had great production design but a weak script, back in April, and now, Styd has released some plot details. Steve Barker will again be directing and has again co-wrote the script with Rae Brunton. I'm really not excited, but here it is:
The year is 1945, the closing stages of WW2, and a German scientist by the name of Klausener is working on a frightening new technology the power to create an immortal Nazi army.

Mixed opinions welcomed Outpost , the UK action-horror flick starring Ray Stevenson, when it arrived in the U.S. early last year. Ambitious, it certainly was. But some felt it dragged (this writer included). Director Steve Barker is getting back behind the camera for Outpost II: Black Sun . Described as 28 Weeks Later meets Cloverfield and Aliens , the plot goes like this: The year is 1945, the closing stages of WW2, and a German scientist by the name of Klausener is working on a frightening new technology the power to create an immortal Nazi army. Flash forward to present day, and a Nato task force is hurriedly deployed to Eastern Europe, where a sinister enemy appears to be mercilessly killing everything in its path. The 2008 British zombie film "Outpost" has a sequel on the way. Writers Steve Barker and Rae Brunton will write the film, with Barker directing once again. It's title will be "Outpost II: Black Sun". The first film was produced by Scottish couple Arabella Croft and Kieran Parker and their production company Black Camel Pictures. They mortgaged their Glasgow home in order to raise £200,000 to finance production. The script is by Rae Brunton, based on Parker's original concept, which he described as "Platoon meets The Sixth Sense". ...

I count myself as a big fan of 2007’s Nazi zombie shocker Outpost. Not only did the film feature a surprisingly textured script and strong work from a roster of character players including recent big-screen Punisher and Rome star Ray Stevenson, there was a hefty dose of fun faux-science ladled into its tale of a team of mercenaries tasked with locating a long-shuttered WWII-era bunker and retrieving a mysterious device housed within (suffice to say, there are zombies involved). Original Outpost producer Kieran Parker dropped us a line to let us know they are prepping a sequel, Outpost II: Black Sun, through Black Camel Pictures and that said sequel is up for grabs at this year’s Cannes Festival. We now offer a peek at an early poster. Can never have enough Nazi zombie pics in my book. As more details emerge, we’ll try and keep you posted!
