Taylor Swift is very easily at a career peak right now, at a level that most artists won’t ever come close to. Her popularity has skyrocketed ever since her “Eras” tour, which is the highest grossing tour of all time (and isn’t even over yet). Swift’s 2024 has already been quite busy, starting with two Grammys for “Midnights” in February, including a fourth Album of the Year award, which made her the first artist to win that many AOTYs, an impressive feat considering Swift’s career is not even 20-years-old yet. On top of that, Swift put out another new album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” that will likely also compete for a win in that category and others. Now that the album has had some time to marinate in the pop cultural landscape, how do her chances look?

This month marks 24 years since ‘NSync released “It’s Gonna Be Me” as the second single from their third album No Strings Attached — and Justin Timberlake hasn’t known peace since. Every year, when April comes to an end, the singer is reminded of that time he went into the studio and sang “me” with an off Swedish twang that made it sound like he was saying “May” and indicating the passage of time. The lyric goes viral around this time every year, but no one grills Timberlake more than his own friends.

Nsync was undeniably one of the hottest boy bands of the 90s. Formed by Chris Kirkpatrick, the group was composed of five members. Other members were Jc Chasez, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, and Justin Timberlake. Nsync was a hit from the beginning, creating an over 15-year record with their second album, No Strings Attached (2000), selling over 2.4 million copies in a week. As one of the biggest boy bands of that decade, Nsync collaborated with many big names in the music industry. The famous boy band was disbanded with Justin Timberlake’s decision to leave the group in 2002. However,...

Elvis Presley‘s “Bossa Nova Baby” was originally by a group that performed one of the most famous tunes of the 1950s. A songwriter explained how the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll rescued the song from obscurity. Despite the song’s eventual success, it wasn’t able to stop a record label from going under.
Elvis Presley’s ‘Bossa Nova Baby’ was recorded by the band behind ‘Love Potion No. 9’
Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller were a songwriting duo known for writing Elvis tunes such as “Hound Dog,” “Jailhouse Rock,” and “She’s Not You.” They also co-wrote other hits, such as The Clovers’ classic hit “Love Potion No. 9.” In the 2009 book Hound Dog: The Leiber and Stoller Autobiography, Stoller discussed the evolution of their career. “We started our own label called Tiger Records,” he recalled. “This meant that we would not only produce, but we would press,...

According to extant Barbie lore, Allan — introduced by Mattel in 1964 — is Ken's best friend. He was about the same size as Ken, so the two were able to swap outfits at a moment's notice. As the years passed, Allan's evolving outfits began to trace out a narrative for the man. In 1990, Mattel introduced Wedding Day Allan, wherein he was wearing a groom's white tuxedo (which quickly became a honeymoon outfit). It seemed that Allan (later Alan) was marrying Barbie's friend Midge. Additional toys saw Alan and Midge getting pregnant (customers were notoriously weirded out by the pregnant Midge doll), and Alan, later pushing his son Ryan around in a stroller.
In Greta Gerwig's new hit film "Barbie," Allan does appear, played by actor Michael Cera. "Barbie" begins in an Edenic playworld called Barbieland wherein all the women are named Barbie and they are all happy, capable, and in positions of power.

After years as an indie darling, Greta Gerwig has become a box office sensation. The filmmaker’s third directorial effort “Barbie” has become one of the biggest movies of 2023, posting a massive $155 million opening weekend. And although the film’s numerous pleasures — including fantastic performances from Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, a blockbuster pop soundtrack, and immaculate (pink!) production and costume design — would have likely helped it find fans regardless. Gerwig’s confident direction and strong voice as a filmmaker is what’s really made the movie into a cultural juggernaut.
“Barbie” and its massive success seems to signal a completely new era of Gerwig’s career. Her next project will see her venture even further into blockbuster filmmaking with two film adaptations of “The Chronicles of Narnia” for Netflix. The films will likely be even bigger than Barbie (at least as a matter of budget), signaling that Gerwig has...

Los Angeles, July 17 (Ians) Hollywood star Michael Cera said that he wasn’t part of his fellow ‘Barbie’ stars’ WhatsApp group chat.
The ‘Superbad’ actor plays doll Allan in Greta Gerwig’s new film about the Mattell creations alongside Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, but he told People that he wasn’t able to join in their off-set chat because he has a retro flip phone, reports aceshowbiz.com.
“I don’t have an iPhone myself. I have a flip phone,” the 35-year-old confessed to People.
If he did have a smartphone, he might not be in the chat anyway, because his character Allan “is sort of in his own little world.”
Allan is a real doll in the Barbie line-up and was first introduced by Mattel in 1964. In the ‘Barbie’ novels, the doll started out as “Ken’s Buddy” and was romantically linked to Barbie’s best pal Margaret “Midge” Hadley.

Greta Gerwig is looking forward to her biggest box-office hit yet as the director and writer of "Barbie," a gleefully quirky new take on the beloved brand. It's very much par for the course for Gerwig, who has made a career out of telling unusual, meaningful stories that examine life, love, and all the contradictory facets of femininity.
Today, Gerwig is probably best known as a director and a writer, with Oscar nominations for films like "Lady Bird" and "Little Women." What you might not know, though, is that she's actually an actress as well! In fact, she's starred in several of the movies she's written and directed throughout her career, as well as several others. For the most part, Gerwig's filmography leans towards indie films, and there are plenty of intriguing titles to take a look at.

Audiences might bemoan the lack of original thinking at the movies these days — all those sequels, remakes, and reboots! — but even new ideas can feel suddenly played out when faced with the horrifying specter of parallel thinking. Consider everything from “Deep Impact” and “Armageddon” to “Dante’s Peak” and “Volcano,” “Capote” and “Infamous” to “No Strings Attached” and “Friends with Benefits,” and those are just contemporary examples of the phenomenon. If you’ve got an idea for a movie — hopefully, a good one to boot — chances are, someone else has it, too. And they may even have it at the exact same time.
Such is the case with Kirk DeMicco and Faryn Pearl’s “Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken,” which arrives on the heels (fins? paws?) of some very similar other animated adventures, like Pixar’s superior “Turning Red” and the studio’s less thrilling entry “Luca,” both of which use monstrous...

The film saw Portman famously portray a ballerina experiencing a psychological breakdown with the pressure of perfecting her craft. Ashton Kutcher has been making people laugh for over two decades. Through the years, he’s formed close relationships with people he’s worked with, even marrying one of his co-stars from early in his career. But a little over a decade ago, Ashton Kutcher starred in No Strings Attached and worked with a rapper who didn’t seem to appreciate Kutcher’s take on his music.

"If You Were The Last" is a fairy tale about friends with benefits, chemical attachments, and complicated relationships — in space. Kristian Mercado's feature debut shoots courtship drama into orbit, defying societal norms here on Earth. Angela Bourassa's screenplay sparkles like stars in the night sky, relying on conversations to hold the audience's attention in this dialogue-heavy interstellar chamber piece. Mercado's style is charmingly lo-fi, thanks to nifty arts and crafts effects (whether real or animated). He trusts actors to carry scenes with nothing but their charisma and flaunts impressive command for a debut filmmaker. It's like "No Strings Attached" but with zero gravity or "Friends With Benefits" caught in Jupiter's orbit.

Lenny Henry’s “Three Little Birds,” Steven Knight’s “This Town” and a first look at “The Summit,” billed as a blockbuster adventure reality series, look like just three highlights of Banijay Rights extensive and wide-ranging lineup at what promises to be one of the biggest presentations at this week’s London TV Screenings.
Further scripted titles will take in “This Town” and “The Sixth Commandment” for the BBC, “Domina” for MGM+ and Sky, and “Safe Home” for Sbs, as well as doc feature “Lara.”
Given the iconic talent behind some titles – “It’s a Sin’s” Russell T. Davies serves as an executive producer on “Three Little Birds – scripted is likely to command large buyer attention.

Ashton Kutcher is shooting for a revival, it seems, reprising his role as Kelso for guest spots on That ‘90s Show and headlining his first movie in a decade. Out of the spotlight or under criticism, Kutcher maintains that his mantra is, “Invest in enduring happiness.”
Ashton Kutcher became an easy target as a doofy leading man in buddy comedies like Dude, Where’s My Car? and a series of rom-coms like Just Married (alongside Brittany Murphy), No Strings Attached (alongside Natalie Portman) and Valentine’s Day (alongside seemingly everybody). Even with dramatic turns, as in 2004’s The Butterfly Effect and 2013 biopic Jobs, Kutcher hasn’t exactly had a lot of praise thrown his way. Still, building off of his mantra and previous words of hope, it’s clear the actor is more of an inspiration that many might give him credit for.

Somewhat surprisingly, Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher had never worked together before Netflix’s new rom-com “Your Place or Mine.”
“I had always wanted to make a romantic comedy with Reese,” Kutcher tells Variety over Zoom. “Like, always.”
Though both are icons of the genre who rose to fame in the early 2000s — Witherspoon captured hearts in “Legally Blonde” and “Sweet Home Alabama,” while Kutcher made audiences swoon in “Just Married” and “No Strings Attached” — the stars just didn’t align for them, until now.
In fact, Witherspoon and Kutcher had only really met one time before, at a party decades ago — in a meet cute that could’ve been scripted for one of their movies — though they have different stories of how it went down.
“He was carrying a little cooler,” Witherspoon recalls. “I was like, ‘Hey, what’s in the cooler, cooler guy?’ It was Red Bull. He...

Netflix’s upcoming romantic comedy “Your Place or Mine” pairs Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher, two actors who dominated the genre in the early 2000s. But instead of heralding the duo’s return to the beloved genre, fans have spent much of the last week grilling Witherspoon and Kutcher for their lack of chemistry on the red carpet. Photos from the “Your Place or Mine” red carpet have gone viral on social media due to the awkward energy between the co-stars.
During a recent interview on “Today” (via Entertainment Weekly), Witherspoon revealed that chatter around her and Kutcher’s lack of red carpet chemistry became so big that she got a message from none other than Kutcher’s wife, Mila Kunis. Kutcher and Kunis have been married since 2015 and have two children together.
“She even emailed us last night,” Witherspoon said of Kunis. “She goes, ‘You guys look so awkward on the red carpet together.

Ashton Kutcher is feeling great about his comeback to rom-com films.
It’s been a little over a decade since the actor starred in his last rom-com blockbuster, “No Strings Attached”, in 2011 with Natalie Portman. However, the actor is again setting his sights on the genre in Netflix’s “Your Place or Mine” with Reese Witherspoon.
“Honestly, I think I had more fun shooting this movie than I ever had,” Kutcher told Variety during the film’s premiere on Thursday. “It was genuinely a choice. I didn’t need to do it. I didn’t have to do it. It wasn’t like a career-building block. It was like, ‘I want to do this.”
Kutcher explained how privileged he felt working with Witherspoon’s talents.
“I got to be in scenes across from a genuine movie star,” said Kutcher. “She’s such a movie star. It was so wonderful and fun and funny and light.

For Ashton Kutcher, sweat and personal revelations apparently go hand in hand. The actor is currently hosting the "Our Future Selves" series for Peloton Tread as he trains for the upcoming New York City Marathon, and during a recent episode with Kenny Chesney, Kutcher shared the story of how he first told Mila Kunis he loved her after listening to the country singer's music.
"The first time I told my wife that I love her was while listening to 'You and Tequila.' I might have had a little too much tequila," Kutcher said, referencing Chesney's 2010 hit featuring Grace Potter. In 2011, Ashton Kutcher starred alongside Natalie Portman in No Strings Attached, a romantic comedy directed by Ivan Reitman which revolved around two friends who decide to make a pact to have a “no strings attached” relationship, without falling in love with each other. Just a few months later, Friends with Benefits was released. The romantic comedy starred Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis as… two friends who decide to start having sex with the belief that it won’t impact their platonic friendship. The familiarity between these two movies has become a running gag, particularly as Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis began dating the very next year. It turns out that Kutcher is all too aware that No Strings Attached and Friends with Benefits are essentially the same movie.

Hollywood star Ashton Kutcher is spilling one of the worst-kept secrets in rom-com history. He recently reunited with his ‘No Strings Attached’ co-star Natalie Portman for a joint Peloton workout for an episode of his series ‘Our Future Selves’, released September 20.
During their session, the actor admitted that their 2011 rom-com was pretty darn similar to a certain film starring his now-wife Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake, released the same year, reports eonline.com.
“I think the first time we really started hanging out is when we shot No Strings together,” Kutcher said, to which Portman responded: “Who would’ve thought 20 years later, we’d be on a Peloton together?”
Kutcher then said: “Wait, it’s also weird because my wife was shooting basically the same movie, called ‘Friends With Benefits’.”

Many rom-com fans have likely already realized that 2011’s “No Strings Attached”, starring Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman, is very similar to another rom-com that also premiered that same year.
However, Kutcher just admitted recently that the film is quite comparable to his now-wife Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake’s movie “Friends With Benefits”. The actor made the comparison when he reunited with his former co-star for an interview and joint Peloton workout on an episode of his series “Our Future Selves”.

Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman are having some important revelations about their rom-com pasts . . . while running on treadmills. This week, Portman joined Kutcher as part of his marathon-training series "Our Future Selves" with Peloton, jogging alongside him as the two discussed how they first met and finally addressed the striking similarities between two iconic films within the romantic comedy multiverse.

The enduring rom-sitcom subgenre changed forever when “New Girl” walked through the front-door of 4D. On September 20, 2011, bonafide television genius Liz Meriwether — then known for the Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher-starring film “No Strings Attached” — debuted the pilot episode of what would become her breakout comedy series on Fox.
Starring Zooey Deschanel as the terminally optimistic school teacher Jessica Day — nicknamed Jess — “New Girl” told the story of six friends brought together by their chaotic lives in Los Angeles. Hannah Simone played Jess’s best friend Cece: a fiercely funny and protective model wary of her friend’s new living situation.
At the loft, Jake Johnson, who had previously appeared in indie gem “Paper Heart” as well as the Russell Brand-starring “Get Him to the Greek,” dazzled in his breakout role as Nick: a dyed-in-the-wool good guy and bartender whose low self-esteem leaves him unlucky in love. Max Greenfield...

The comedy community and “Ghostbusters” fans everywhere are remembering Ivan Reitman, who died Saturday at 75. Actors and filmmakers, including several people who worked closely with Reitman, paid tribute to the Canadian director and producer who directed the megahit “Ghostbusters” and helped ignite the movie careers of comedians including Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd.
Reitman also directed “Meatballs” and “Stripes,” and produced films including “National Lampoon’s Animal House,” “Space Jam,” “Up in the Air” and last year’s “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.”
Tom Rothman, chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, said in a statement, “Tonight, the lady with the torch weeps, as do all of us at Columbia, and film lovers around the world. Ivan Reitman was an inseparable part of this studio’s legacy, but more than that he was a friend. A great talent and an even finer man; he will be dearly missed. We send his family all our condolences.
