Marvel is looking to a new Vision for its next TV offering.
The Vision character played by Paul Bettany will be at the center of the studio’s first new series order in some time. The untitled show is currently on track for a 2026 premiere on Disney+, with Star Trek: Picard’s Terry Matalas installed as showrunner. A writers room for the series opened this week.
Bettany will reprise his role as Vision, which spans three Marvel films and the WandaVision series (plus voice work on the three Iron Man movies as Jarvis, Tony Stark’s artificial intelligence creation). At the end of WandaVision, Vision’s physical body was brought back to life (with an all-white appearance), with no memories of his previous incarnation; his memories are restored by the spectral Vision Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) had conjured to manage her grief as she put a hex on the town of Westview,...

Marvel has tapped “Star Trek: Picard” executive producer Terry Matalas to resurrect Vision, the synthezoid played by Paul Bettany, for a new, untitled Disney+ series set for 2026, Variety has learned exclusively. Bettany will return to the role and Matalas will serve as showrunner.
After Vision died at the hands of Thanos in 2018’s “Avengers: Infinity War,” he returned twice over in 2021’s “WandaVision,” first as a spectral creation by his beloved, Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), through magic powered by grief; then as a rebuilt, nuts-and-bolts android with a ghost white appearance and zero memory of his past life. When the two Visions battled in the “WandaVision” finale, Wanda’s Vision restored the ghost Vision’s memories, then Wanda allowed her Vision to fade from existence. The new show will take place after those events, as ghost Vision presumably explores his new purpose in life.

The year 1990 was a pretty decent time for a trip to the movies, especially if you’re a self confessed gore-hound, like yours truly. There’s nothing better than sitting down in a packed movie theater, or even at home with the pet cat or a similarly cherished human, to watch some carnage on the screen. Tom Savini’s Night of the Living Dead was a fun remake of the 1968 classic, while we also got the likes of It, Tremors, Child’s Play 2, Gremlins 2, Predator 2 (there’s a theme forming here…) Killer Crocodile 2. Ok, maybe not that last one. Also, if you’re a fan of Stephen King adaptations, the year also brought the ankle smashing Misery with Cathy Bates in full on psycho mode, plus the outlandishly bad, in a good way, Frankenhooker, replete with all of its soft-core pornography and grisly images. Which brings us...

A new episode of NCIS: Hawai’i has a surprise for viewers and boss Jane Tennant (played by Vanessa Lachey).
Supervisor Agent John Swift of the Office of Special Projects (played by Henry Ian Cusick) is back.
His title is a mouthful, but his job seems to encompass more than previously revealed.
Swift first appeared in the final two episodes of NCIS: Hawai’i Season 2 (Past Due and Dies Irae).
While he is on the side of bringing down the bad guys, he does it in a way that can ruffle the feathers of people he works with. Add Tennant to that list.
Now Swift is back for NCIS: Hawai’i Season 3, Episode 2, and he has a surprising revelation for Tennant.
Who is Henry Ian Cusick on the NCIS: Hawai’i cast?
Cusick is probably best known for his role as Desmond Hume on Lost. The character was mysterious and brought much intrigue to the hit ABC show.

Cillian Murphy revealed that when he landed his breakthrough role in “28 Days Later,” the actor didn’t consider it a zombie movie. Murphy, a first-time Oscar nominee for his work in “Oppenheimer,” discussed the 2002 hit film at a taping of SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s Conversations program. In the nearly 90-minute conversation, recorded in December, Murphy talks about his lengthy career on stage and screen. That includes working with director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland on the film, in which he plays a man who wakes from a coma 28 days after a rage-inducing virus has caused society to break down.
“I wasn’t too aware we were making a zombie movie, to be honest with you,” Murphy noted, adding he hadn’t seen any of George A. Romero’s “Night of the Living Dead” series. “It was right around the time Sars happened and there was all this ‘air rage’ stuff going on.

Alice left an indelible mark on American TV. Based on a relatively minor Martin Scorsese film, the weekly 30-minute sitcom followed the day-to-day of a widowed mom (played by Linda Lavin) who experienced car trouble in Arizona and never left. Nearly five decades after its 1976 debut, all but two of the original Alice cast members have died. Who’s still alive?

Although the 2023 movie awards season has come to an end, the stars of the year’s most heavily feted film, “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” already have an excuse to keep spending time together. The Disney Plus action comedy series “American Born Chinese,” which is set for a May 24 premiere, will serve as a full-blown Wang family reunion for main cast members (and Oscar champs) Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan and guest performers Stephanie Hsu and James Hong. The teaser trailer for the upcoming show, which aired during Sunday night’s Oscars telecast, is available to watch above.

Walt Disney just dropped a slew of new release dates, most of which were of the “untitled” variety like “untitled Disney,” “untitled Pixar” and “untitled Disney Animation.” It is still nice to know that the studio intends to be releasing animated movies in theaters at least up until the end of 2026, but the one named title is “The Booygeyman.”
Penned by “Quiet Place” writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, along with “Black Swan” writer Mark Heyman, the Rob Savage-directed “The Boogeyman” concerns a teen girl and her little sister coping with the death of their mother and struggling to get their grieving father to notice a sadistic presence plaguing their home. It features “Bizaardvark”s Madison Hu along with Vivien Lyra Blair, “Yellowjackets” star Sophie Thatcher, David Dastmalchian who has starred in “The Suicide Squad,” “Ant-Man” and the recent CBS reboot of “MacGyver” as the villainous Murdoc.

Exclusive: James Wan’s Atomic Monster has teamed with Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Westbrook Studios on Concrete Jungle, an urban nature docuseries.
Based on an original idea from Wan and Ingrid Bisu, Concrete Jungle is described as “not your typical natural history show”. Exclusive: Lucas Till (MacGyver), Ruby Rose (Taurus), Tyrese Gibson (Morbius) and Don Johnson (Knives Out) will topline the action-thriller The Collective from Yale Entertainment, which has recently wrapped production.
In the film directed by Tom DeNucci, a group of righteous assassins called The Collective take aim at a highly sophisticated human trafficking ring backed by a network of untouchable billionaires. With their backs against the wall, The Collective has no choice but to put their most important mission in the hands of rookie assassin, Sam Alexander (Till). What he lacks in experience he makes up for in savvy, grit, and a keen ability to improvise in the most dangerous situations. He is aided on his journey by Hugo (Gibson) and Liam (Johnson), former CIA operatives turned rogue vigilantes. They face off against Daisy (Rose), the cunning general manager of this evil, clandestine organization. Sam must prove to himself, Liam and...

It still feels a little surreal that not only has Charlie Cox returned as Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but that we’re getting a whole new series with Daredevil: Born Again. Deadline announced today that Margarita Levieva (The Deuce) and Sandrine Holt (American Gigolo) have joined the cast of Daredevil: Born Again in what are said to be major roles.
As you might have guessed, exactly who Margarita Levieva and Sandrine Holt are playing in Daredevil: Born Again is being kept under wraps, but Deadline hears that they’ll be playing love interests for the leads. In addition to Charlie Cox, Daredevil: Born Again will also feature the return of Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. Michael Gandolfini (The Many Saints of Newark) also recently joined the cast of Daredevil: Born Again. Margarita Levieva starred in all three seasons of HBO’s The Deuce and also appeared in...

Exclusive: Margarita Levieva (The Deuce) and Sandrine Holt (American Gigolo) are set for major roles opposite Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio in Daredevil: Born Again, Marvel’s upcoming revival series on Disney+, sources tell Deadline.
Written and executive produced by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, the new installment centers on Cox’s title character Daredevil, otherwise known by the name Matt Murdock, an attorney by day and crimefighter by night. D’Onofrio reprises his role as mob boss Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin.
Details about Levieva’s and Holt’s characters are being kept under wraps; I hear they may be playing love interests for the leads. Reps for Marvel, Levieva and Holt declined comment.
In addition to Cox and D’Onofrio, Levieva and Holt join previously cast Michael Gandolfini. The 18-episode season of Daredevil: Born Again is slated to premiere in 2024, four years after the original Daredevil series ended its run on Netflix after three seasons.

Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions and James Wan’s Atomic Monster are in advanced talks to merge and join forces, potentially bringing together two horror powerhouses in the industry.
Both Blum and Wan spoke with The New York Times Wednesday about the possibility of a merger, discussing how they would be perfect counterparts of artist and businessman, having each shepherded franchises or box office hits such as “Paranormal Activity” and “Get Out” on Blumhouse’s end and “The Conjuring” and “Saw” universes for Wan’s Atomic Monster.
While no deal is finalized and both parties are still at the beginning of talks, an individual with knowledge of the conversations told IndieWire that if a deal were to close, both Blumhouse and Atomic Monster would continue to operate at separate labels, but with Atomic Monster having a first-look deal with Universal Pictures. Wan’s company ended its first-look deal with Warner Bros. in June,...

Director Jorma Taccone's "MacGruber" was always destined to become a cult hit. The 2010 action-comedy movie is based on a recurring "Saturday Night Live" sketch in which Will Forte plays special ops agent MacGruber, the son of expert problem-solver Angus MacGyver from the popular 1980s TV show "MacGyver." Far from a chip off the old block, MacGruber is quite incompetent at his job and never fails to blow himself up while trying to disarm deadly explosives.
Taking things a step further, the "MacGruber" movie is a no-holds-barred satire of macho retro action film cliché. MacGruber himself is depicted in the movie as a mullet-ed, rip their throat out first, ask questions later type with a dark backstory whose fiancée was killed by his arch-enemy, Dieter Von Cunth (Val Kilmer). Of course, in one of the film's many Nsfw exchanges, MacGruber reveals his tragic past is, er, much less derivative than it sounds.

Exclusive: Marc Menchaca (Ozark) has signed on to star alongside André Holland, Don Cheadle, Alessandro Nivola and Tiffany Boone in the six-episode limited series The Big Cigar, centered on Black Panther leader Huey P. Newton (Holland), for Apple TV+.
The series based on the eponymous Playboy magazine article by Joshuah Bearman (Argo) tells the extraordinary, hilarious, almost-too-good-to-be-true story of how Newton relied on his best friend, Bert Schneider (Nivola), the Hollywood producer behind Easy Rider, to elude a nationwide manhunt and escape to Cuba while being pursued into exile by the FBI.
Menchaca is set for the series regular role of Agent Sydney Clark. A former lawyer and Vietnam vet from Oklahoma, Clark lives undercover as a dirty hippie while pursuing Newton, who is wanted on charges of killing a teenage prostitute.
NAACP Image Award winner Janine Sherman Barrois is serving as The Big Cigar‘s showrunner.

Photo: ‘Fire Island’ Brief Overview This silly and wild romantic comedy is a great start to kick off Pride month this June 2022. Filled with witty one-liners, a Charli Xcx reference, and loveable characters, ‘Fire Island’ is an entertaining watch that encompasses both friendship and identity. The movie is directed by Andrew Ahn who directed films such as ‘Spa Night’ and episodes from ‘MacGyver’ and ‘Generation’. In addition to Ahn, Joel Kim Booster is an upcoming comedian who starred as the main character of the film. ‘Fire Island’ became Booster’s debut as a screenwriter. The story is absolutely unapologetic and a fun watch for the summertime. Fire Island, the infamous location for gay men in NYC, provides lots of drama, romance, and comedy.
The movie, written by star Joel Kim Booster and directed by Andrew Ahn (who directed an episode of MacGyver), chronicles Noah (Booster) and his friends' yearly trip to the pines.
Antics ensue, along with some truly heartfelt moments.
Noah and his friends find themselves getting into the usual Fire Island shenanigans, but the movie takes unexpected emotional turns.
The movie also discusses many issues within the LGBTQ+ community.
Fire Island stars Joel Kim Booster, Bowen Yang (SNL), Margaret Cho, Conrad Ricorma (How to Get Away With Murder), James Scully (You), Matt Rogers (I Love That For You), Tomas Matos, Torian Miller, Nick Adams, and Zane Phillips (Legacies).

Only twice in the past 10 years had CBS scheduled a freshman drama for the end of the week — the most recent instance being MacGyver, which called Friday home for five seasons.
This fall, CBS will do it again, when the firefighter drama Fire Country claims the cancelled Magnum P.I.‘s time slot, hammocked between rock steady S.W.A.T. and the long-running Blue Bloods (which consistently cops the night’s largest audience).

Rizzoli and Isles haven't solved a new case on TV in nearly six years.
While Tess Gerritsen continues to write new novels on the beloved duo, we've been left with a significant gap in our lives as their lives go on without us bearing witness on-screen.
The iconic duo of Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander were TV staples for over 100 episodes, but what are they (and the rest of the cast) doing now?
In Memorium: Lee Thompson Young -- Detective Barry Frost
Lee Thompson Young, who played Detective Frost (one of Jane Rizzoli's closest co-workers), tragically passed away in 2013 before the filming of Season Five.
Detective Frost's death got handled beautifully by the writers, from his death in Rizzoli and Isles Season 5 Episode 1 to Jane seeing a vision of him in Rizzoli and Isles Season 5 Episode 18.
The episodes throughout Season Five left us crying, laughing, and missing Lee Thompson Young's presence on our screens.
