Chicago – Catching a young actor in an early career stride is like catching lightning in a bottle. Colin Ford has such a breakthrough role portraying Rickey Hill, a Texas ballplayer who is battling a degenerative disease that may not give him enough time to fulfill his major league dreams. The film is aptly titled “The Hill.”
Rickey Hill wears leg braces as a child due to a degenerative spinal disease, but enjoys playing baseball. His strict pastor father (Dennis Quaid) dissuades his son from the sport, wanting to shield him from further injuries. But despite all odds, the older Rickey (Colin Ford) becomes a baseball “phenom.” When he begins to be scouted for the major leagues, the father and son are still divided, but Rickey Hill won’t give up.

Matt Damon joked that a kissing scene with one of the biggest actors in Hollywood was a nightmare. In 2011, he starred in We Bought a Zoo with Scarlett Johansson. While the two got along, Damon noted that he didn’t enjoy kissing her. He shared why Johansson’s lunch made the scene unpleasant.
Matt Damon joked about the challenge of kissing an A-List actor
In a conversation for LADbible TV with his Oppenheimer co-star Emily Blunt, Damon spoke about filming a kissing scene with Johansson in We Bought a Zoo.
“We went to lunch and she and I both thought it was over and she ate, like, an onion sandwich,” Damon said. “And she came in and [director] Cameron Crowe had set the camera up and it was, like, a tight shot of the kiss, and she goes, ‘Oh s***, I literally just had an onion sandwich!'”

As per ‘The Mirror’, recalling the role, the actor joked it was “horrible” as he opened up on the “hell” he had to go through.
“I had to kiss Scarlett Johansson – can you imagine how horrible that was for me? It was hell!” he told LADbible.

Matt Damon is spilling the details of his onscreen kisses. On July 19, Damon revealed that a seemingly romantic kiss with Scarlett Johansson quickly turned awkward when he caught a whiff of his costar's onion breath. The actors were filming their heartwarming 2011 family drama "We Bought a Zoo" when the apparent incident took place. "What happened was, we did a shot before lunch, and it was this nice little two-shot that ended in the kiss," Damon told Emily Blunt during a LADbible TV interview. "And it was really good. And we went to lunch, and she and I both thought it was over, but it wasn't."
"She goes, 'Oh sh*t! I literally just had an onion sandwich!'"
When Johansson and Damon returned from lunch, producers asked them to film more close-up scenes. The unexpected request resulted in a slightly mortifying realization for Johansson.

Three is a crowd, and Matt Damon prefers it that way. At the July 11 "Oppenheimer" world premiere in Paris, the 52-year-old actor arrived on the red carpet with three of his four daughters. He smiled alongside 12-year-old Stella, 14-year-old Gia, and 24-year-old Alexia. His 17-year-old daughter, Isabella, who Damon also shares with wife Luciana Damon, was the only child not in attendance at the premiere.
Since Damon's daughters tend to stay out of the spotlight, this family outing marks a somewhat rare joint red carpet appearance. Back in March, however, some of the girls did accompany Damon to the "Air" premiere. But as Damon told Seth Meyers on "Late Night" back in April, they still find plenty of ways to keep him humble. "My 16-year-old likes to give me a hard time. She is very clear about not wanting to see anything that I'm in if she thinks it might be good,...

We've been huge fans of Elle and Dakota Fanning since they first started their Hollywood careers almost 20 years ago as kids! Over the years, their pictures together have let us watch as they've grown up from adorable kid stars (in films like "Uptown Girls" and "We Bought a Zoo") to full-fledged leading ladies and style icons - and what's even better, they've stuck together this whole time. Although there are tons of Hollywood siblings we love, the Fanning sisters are especially easy to root for, and the pictures they share of each other on social media prove that they might be famous, but they're just like any other sisters. Keep reading for some of our favorite pictures of Elle and Dakota Fanning.

Oscar-winning filmmaker Cameron Crowe has had a fascinating career trajectory and is responsible for some of the most beloved coming-of-age stories ever put to screen. His feature screenwriting debut came with the groundbreaking teen film "Fast Times at Ridgemont High," shortly followed by the massively influential "Say Anything..." and "Singles." Crowe has a knack for capturing the human condition with so much reverence for people doing their best to make it through life and making audiences feel validated in ways they never thought possible.
For many folks, Crowe had finally "made it" after the success of "Jerry Maguire," the endlessly quotable romantic sports dramedy now better known for its VHS copies dominating every thrift store in America. However, real ones know that Crowe's masterpiece would come many years later with "We Bought A Zoo." Just kidding, it's obviously "Almost Famous," a near-perfect film (just edit out the non-consensual post-od kiss!

Here’s some potentially happy news: none other than Cameron Crowe is planning a return to features with him potentially signing on to direct a Joni Mitchell biopic. The scoop comes via Jeff Sneider at Above the Line. Crowe hasn’t directed in many years after suffering a huge flop with Aloha, the movie that infamously cast Emma Stone as (part) Asian. He went on to make Showtime’s underrated series Roadies, but it only lasted one season. A Joni Mitchell biopic would be an ideal movie for Crowe, bringing him back to the seventies music milieu of Almost Famous.
It helps that Crowe is long-time friends with Mitchell, going back to Crowe’s famous days as a boy reporter for Rolling Stone. Crowe has interviewed her many times (here’s a recent one commemorating the anniversary of her album Blue) and is frequently seen at her side when she makes infrequent public appearances.

The best horror movies succeed by tapping into our collective nightmares. They take the big ideas that haunt us at night — the things we’re all afraid to admit terrify us — and give us a thrilling catharsis by bringing them to life on screen. Great horror filmmakers understand that there’s already more than enough darkness in our hearts, and all they have to do is reflect it back at us. So it was only a matter of time before a brave director took on the one bogeyman whose portrayal has evaded even the most twisted auteurs: David Harbour in a bowling shirt with a bad combover.

Your Place or Mine is a romantic comedy starring Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher. You can see it on Netflix. It is written and directed by Aline Brosh McKenna.
Two Hollywood stars in the same movie, attractive, one in his home in Manhattan, the other in her house in Los Angeles… we are approaching Valentine´s Day and we know that there are things that can be guessed at a mile away.

She is an acclaimed writer, creator of the series "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend", as well as the scripts for The Devil Wears Prada, 27 Dresses, Morning Glory, We Bought a Zoo, and Annie, now she's directing her first film. Debbie and Peter are best friends and total opposites. She craves routine with her son in LA; he thrives on change in NYC. This sounds a lot like The Holiday, but more about the long-distance romance than the Christmas-themed vibes. There are certain roles that just seemed to be crafted for certain actors. Sometimes that's intentional, like when Wes Anderson wrote the role of Royal Tenenbaum specifically for Gene Hackman (much to Hackman's initial chagrin). Other times, things just fall into place, and it becomes hard to see anyone else in the role. For example, it's tough to imagine anyone but Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins, Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, or Matt Damon as that guy in "We Bought a Zoo." Or, y'know, maybe Jason Bourne. Either one fits, really.

Movies often require their actors to be put in situations that may scare them. Salma Hayek was reluctant to sign up for "From Dusk Till Dawn" because of her fear of snakes. Even a gentle film like "We Bought a Zoo" made Scarlett Johansson confront her fear of birds (a fear I absolutely share and don't understand how everyone can just go around pretending that birds are not monsters). Claustrophobia, acrophobia, arachnophobia... there are so many things that an actor might be afraid of on set. Sometimes the filmmakers just like making their cast jump out of their skins on camera for fun,...

July is the month that North America goes back to the movies in earnest. There have already been some theatrical release of note this summer, but as everyone knows the blockbuster movie season doesn’t get started until a Marvel movie premieres. Thankfully, with its list of new releases for July 2021, Disney+ is offering up some options for those who prefer to stay home.
In addition to arriving in theaters on July 9, Black Widow will premiere on Disney+ as well. Disney+ subscribers can purchase the first Marvel movie released since 2019 for $29.99. Judging by the early buzz, that “Premier Access” price may be worth it. Disney+ is keeping the original summer movie parade going in July with The Rock’s latest action film, Jungle Cruise, premiering on July 30.

Scarlett Johansson, whose long-awaited solo Marvel movie Black Widow finally hits theaters and Disney+ next month, is being feted this fall as the 35th recipient of the American Cinematheque Award. After going with a virtual presentation last year for 2020 honoree Spike Lee, the organization’s marquee event returns to normalcy, with its November 18 ceremony taking place at the Beverly Hilton where it was held last in 2019, when Charlize Theron was the recipient.
The event is an annual fundraiser for the nonprofit organization that continues its year-round programming at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica and Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. After a year-plus shutdown due to the pandemic, the Aero just reopened June 10. The Egyptian, now under the purview of Netflix, is undergoing renovations before reopening as a venue both Netflix and American Cinematheque (on the weekends) will be using for their programming.

December 2020 marks 30 years since the release of Home Alone – three decades since Moira from Schitt’s Creek and the crooked cop from The Sopranos forget to take Roman from Succession’s brother to France, so he set fire to Tommy from Goodfellas. If that news has you spiralling into a pit of what-have-i-done-with-my-life despair, you’ll be in need of some distraction.
Here’s a bit of that, with a list of the new additions to Disney + UK this December. On Christmas Day, there’s Pixar’s Soul to look forward to, but before that is the free-to-subscribers debut of the live-action Mulan, plus the ongoing weekly episodes of The Mandalorian and Marvel’s Agents of Shield season seven.
We’ll keep this list updated as more announcements are confirmed.

Thomas Haden Church is set as the lead of “The Texanist,” a multi-camera comedy currently in development at Fox.
Inspired by the long-running Texas Monthly column of the same name written by David Courtney, the potential series centers on Dave (Church), an opinionated Austin-area radio show host who calls ‘em like he sees ‘em, dispensing advice to Texas natives and newcomers, alike, on what he knows to be the true Texas Way of life. But the Texas Way is changing, and now Dave’s job is becoming much more complicated. Listening to advice from his wife, family and co-workers, Dave must now become the arbiter of which changes to embrace and which to reject, possibly opening his mind in the process… just, not that much.
“The Texanist” is written by Rob Long, who executive produces alongside Gail Berman and Hend Baghdady for The Jackal Group, along with Church, Courtney, Megan Creydt and Scott Brown.

Exclusive: Young actress Maggie Elizabeth Jones (Ben and Kate) has been cast as one of the leads of CBS’ new Chuck Lorre-Marco Pennette multi-camera comedy series B Positive, headlined by Thomas Middleditch and Annaleigh Ashford.
Jones has joined the series in a recasting; a different teen actress played the role in the James Burrows-directed B Positive pilot, the only 2020 broadcast pilot that was completed before the coronavirus-related production shutdown started in mid-March.
Created by Pennette, B Positive is about a therapist and newly divorced dad (Middleditch) who is faced with finding a kidney donor when he runs into a rough-around-the-edges woman from his past (Ashford) who volunteers her own. Together they form an unlikely bond and begin a journey that will change both of their lives.
Jones plays Maddie. Wise beyond her years, Maddie acts as a parent to her parents Drew (Middleditch) and Julia (Sara Rue), who are divorced.
