Matthew 25: 35-40 in the Bible says that giving to the unhoused is akin to giving to the lord directly: “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’” For Angel Studios, the distributor hopes its unique style of generosity toward its top filmmaker will be a benefit unto themselves as well.
Angel Studios has a 10-year overall film deal in place with Alejandro Monteverde, the director of last year’s “Sound of Freedom” and this year’s “Cabrini,” to direct and produce at least five more theatrical films. In the interim, Monteverde certainly won’t be homeless: As part of the deal, Angel has agreed to purchase Monteverde a house valued between $4-5 million in a location of his choosing. Lindy Elloway threw shade at a “toxic ex” in a recent post, and you can call us shady but the first person that came to mind was Miguel Santiago.
We’re not the only ones who immediately thought of Lindy’s ex-husband at the mere mention of the word toxic.
After she posted the message several people took to the comment section to bash Miguel for how he treated his wife during the eight-week process.
We witnessed their rocky relationship during Season 15 and although the couple opted to stay married on Decision Day, they couldn’t sustain the relationship.
In February 2023, Lindy announced their divorce, stating that Miguel was not committed to the success of their marriage.
Since then, the Married at First Sight alum has been happily single, and now Lindy has set some standards for her next relationship.

Alejandro Monteverde delivered Angel Studios its top hit ever with Sound of Freedom, one of 2023’s biggest theatrical success stories with more than $250 million at the global box office. Now, the faith-based outfit has signed the director to a rich overall deal with some curious terms, including the purchase of a multimillion-dollar home for him.
According to Angel Studios SEC filings that lay out the terms of the deal, Monteverde, 46, has inked a 10-year agreement with the faith-based studio that will see him direct five to 10 theatrical films. It comes during a time of industry contraction that is seeing traditional Hollywood companies jettison expensive overall deals.
But this deal comes with some interesting stipulations. The potential films from Monteverde will have to be deemed “theatrical worthy” in a rating system from the Angel Guild, the studio’s paid membership service that gives members (now numbering more than 300,000, per the company...

Lots of ways to describe how bad it is for theaters. Here’s one: A year ago, the #2 film “The Little Mermaid” grossed $41.4 million; this weekend, the top four films grossed $44.4 million combined.
“The Garfield Movie” (Sony) took over #1 with $14 million and a 10-day total about $2 million better than last week’s #1, “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.” (Warner Bros.). George Miller’s $160 million-budget prequel dropped 59 percent from a disappointing start and is in a tight battle for #2 with “If” (Paramount). The family fantasy with Ryan Reynolds tentatively stands at $50,000 ahead; to its credit, WB wasn’t aggressive in its estimate. (Tomorrow will tell the actual result).
The good news is that we have touched bottom for the summer, and it will get better from here. Both “Garfield” and “If” had strong holds: “Garfield” dropped 41 percent in its second weekend after a holiday Sunday, and “If” dropped 33 percent and now is at $80 million.

It’s a fairly rare weekend at the box office when there are five new wide releases, but it’s even rare when none of those movies even crack the top six. Read on for the weekend box office report.
After one of the worst Memorial Day weekends in decades, the transition weekend between May and June wasn’t going to be much better with none of the new releases opening in more than 2,000 theaters. That wasn’t helped by the fact that Disney, the one major studio in the mix, decided to dump their latest well-reviewed movie into a few hundred theaters with very little fanfare.
After settling for second place over Memorial Day, Sony Pictures’ animated “The Garfield Movie” moved into first place with an estimated $14 million, down just 42% from its three-day opening weekend, to bring its domestic total to $51.6 million. Overseas, the Chris Pratt-starring family film...

Married at First Sight Season 12 villain Chris Williams recently trashed his Lifetime match, Paige Banks, years after they first appeared in their season in Atlanta. So, what did he have to say about the person who the experts matched him with all those years ago?
Married At First Sight: Chris Williams Was The Unanimous Season 12 Villain
Without question, Chris Williams was the unanimous villain of the Atlanta season. Unfortunately for Paige Banks, she was the one matched with that season’s villain. As fans who watched the season saw, she paid the price for it over the course of the season.
Chris Williams said in Married at First Sight scenes that he wasn’t attracted to his new wife. Making matters worse for Paige Banks was the fact that he told her this to her face after the pair had already been intimate. Based on the latest comments from him,...

Married at First Sight cast member Chris Williams is one of the most memorable villains from the franchise, and not in a good way. Recently, he made a shocking confession about how he ended up on the show. So, what did he recently reveal?
Married At First Sight: Chris Williams Is One Of The Biggest Franchise Villains
As longtime Married at First Sight fans know, the franchise has produced some memorable villains over the years. One of those villains is Chris Williams from Season 12 in Atlanta. Chris was paired with Paige Banks on his season, and it was fairly obvious that these two would not make it for the long haul.
Making things worse, Chris Williams dropped the bomb on Paige Banks after being intimate with her that his attraction level wasn’t there. It was obvious to many Married at First Sight fans even back then that Chris was...

Michael Shiakallis and Chloe Brown gave Married at First Sight fans a treat when they recently linked up for a live chat.
However, their obvious chemistry has people begging the couple to get back together.
Viewers have been singing that tune since the pair parted ways on Decision Day, but Chloe has already affirmed that Michael chose to get a divorce, so there won’t be any second chances.
It was rocky between the pair, after Michael’s shocking choice to end the marriage, but they’ve since formed a close bond after hashing out their issues.
That close relationship gives fans of the show hope that the two will one day be reconciled, and their recent video only adds fuel to the fire.
In a clip from their Instagram Live, the nature-loving Chloe had a chat with Michael about forest bathing, but their cute banter has reignited those reconciliation rumors once again.

Every Married at First Sight season has at least one villain. From the looks of it, Miguel Santiago appears to be linked to the villain from his season, Morgan Bell. So, what do we know so far about this situation?
Married At First Sight Has Had Its Share Of Villains
Over its long history of 17 seasons so far, Married at First Sight has had a string of villains. At least one cast member every season rubs viewers the wrong way. In some cases, there may be even more than one cast member that viewers love to hate.
Some notable Married at First Sight villains over the years include the likes of Matt Gwynne, Chris Williams, Molly Duff, and more. While these types of cast members are horrible for whoever they are married to, they are great for drama, and great for getting people to tune in.

Memorial Day is usually one of the biggest and best weekends at the box office, but the warped year that is 2024 at the box office continued with neither of the new wide releases blowing up. Read on for the weekend box office report.
Going into the weekend, George Miller‘s prequel, “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” had scored impressive reviews after its Cannes Film Festival debut with 89% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Warner Bros. had the film’s stars, Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth, just about everywhere promoting the movie. It ended up making $3.5 million from Thursday previews beginning at 3pm, which was less than the $3.7 previews for “Mad Max: Fury Road” back in 2015. It ended up making $10.2 million on Friday, including those previews, which was not a good sign it might reach the $40 million plus projected in advance. Instead, it ended up with $26.3 million over the three-day weekend and an estimated $32 million including Monday.

Warner Bros.’ “Furiosa” pulled out to a narrow lead over Sony/Alcon/Dneg’s “The Garfield Movie,” though that is not much of a victory as the $32 million extended opening earned by the “Mad Max” prequel is part of the worst Memorial Day weekend box office results seen since the 1990s.
“Furiosa” scored the lowest total for a No. 1 Memorial Day film since “Casper” in 1995, while the overall estimated 4-day total of $128 million is a sharp 37% drop from last year’s Memorial Day weekend.
It’s a drop that can be attributed to an industry-wide slump as Hollywood and exhibitors weather weeks of reduced theatrical output due to delays caused by last year’s strikes, including Marvel Studios’ “Deadpool & Wolverine,” which has enjoyed exceptional presales but moved from May to late July and left theaters without their customary comic book film boost to kick off the summer.

Yet again, a new film sits atop the box-office weekend top ten as Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga managed to stave off fellow newcomer The Garfield Movie by a mere $0.7 million to take the top spot prior to the holiday.
In its first weekend of release, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga brought in $25.5 million for Warner Bros., allowing it to finish just ahead of Sony Pictures Releasing’s second-place claimant, The Garfield Movie, which brought in $24.8 million during its debut weekend. Meanwhile, this pushed last weekend’s top film If to third place where it added $16.1 million for Paramount Pictures, bringing its two-week tally to $58.7 million. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes dropped two spots as well, landing in fourth place this weekend with $13.4 million. This gives the 20th Century Studios film a three-week total of $122.8 million. Married at First Sight fans have been wondering for years if there is a financial incentive for taking the time to film a Lifetime season. Recently, the Kinetic Content CEO dished on whether or not cast members are cashing checks. So, what did they have to say?
Married At First Sight: Marrying A Stranger Has Proven To Be Popular
Even though Married at First Sight fans largely agree that the show has gone down the tubes over the last few seasons, the premise of marrying a stranger at the altar without seeing them beforehand has been drawing in viewers since the show first premiered.
A decade and 17 seasons later, Married at First Sight is still a popular show among viewers. In addition, with popular streaming services picking up seasons of the show, these platforms are exposing new audiences to older seasons, viewers who may not have been aware that a show like this existed.

The Memorial Day Weekend we’d all like to forget: Any claims to #1 are premature. “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” (Warner Bros.) and “The Garfield Movie” (Sony) are in a battle for #1 for the four-day holiday, but each only estimates around $25 million for Friday to Sunday. (“Furiosa” is ahead.)
This is a holiday release date often chosen for a film that’s expected to be among the top three of the year. Unadjusted, neither “Furiosa” nor “Garfield” would be among the top 50 openers historically for this particular weekend; adjusting to current ticket prices, not even the top 100.
Current estimates for the four-day weekend are $101 million, but the crisis lies in the whole month. May is supposed to kick off summer and it has failed. It confirms that post- “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” box-office depression has no end in sight.

Imperator Furiosa has battled ruthless kidnappers, raider attacks and maniacal warlords as she traverses a lawless Wasteland. And yet her fiercest adversary, at least today, seems to be a lazy cat who loves lasagna.
The Warner Bros. high-octane prequel “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” is facing off against Sony’s animated “The Garfield Movie” for first place on box office charts over Memorial Day weekend. Each movie has generated roughly $25 million over the weekend and an estimated $31 million through Monday. Both studios are reporting that its own movie has ranked No. 1. The Memorial Day box office is no picnic this year
Based on Friday numbers, George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga or The Garfield Movie may only open to $31 million to $33 million from 4,035 theaters over the four-day holiday, the worst Memorial Day opener in 40 years, give or take.
The two films are in a closer-than-expected race, but most rival studios expect Warner Bros. to take the top spot with Furiosa ahead of Sony and Alcon’s Garfield movie. Neither film aced it with audiences, with each receiving a B+ CinemaScore. Furiosa grossed $10.2 million on Friday, versus $8.4 million for Garfield. That’s not a big gap considering the latter is a family film.
With no holdovers to contribute in a massive way to the Memorial Day picnic, overall revenue may only clock in at only $125 million, the lowest showing in more than two decades. That excludes 2020 and 2021, when the pandemic was still raging,...

As absurd as it is to say about a film that ends with an onscreen Qr code imploring viewers to “Pay It Forward,” “Sight” probably would be better if it was preachier. At the very least, it would be more memorable.
The latest project from Angel Studios, “Sight” certainly looks and feels like the type of cheap contemporary Christian cinema that both its production company and its director specialize in. But whenever the movie looks like it might go full Christian medical drama a la the inexplicably Oscar-nominated “Breakthrough,” it always pulls back from launching into a sermon. Sure, there’s a kindly nun and an unbearable syrupy sweet church scene, but by the end of “Sight,” it’s not particularly clear how devout main character Ming Wang is to Christianity, or if he’s even a believer in the first place.

Call “Sight” a stealth faith-based movie and you won’t be far off the mark. For the most part, it’s a respectful but unremarkable biopic about Dr. Ming Wang, a Chinese-born, Nashville-based eye surgeon whose innovative use of amniotic membrane contact lenses has helped restore the eyesight of millions of patients, many of them children. But the end, which contains a Qr code much like distributor Angel Studios’ summer blockbuster “Sound of Freedom” did last year, features the real Dr. Wang — one of the film’s executive producers — in a sequence where he credits his success as having been possible “only with God’s grace,” after he was able to “open myself to God.”

For decades, Memorial Day weekend has traditionally been a hugely busy weekend at the box office, often offering the biggest of franchise sequels — or in this case, two potential franchise prequels? Read on for Gold Derby’s box office preview.
The Memorial Day bump that has helped so many franchise installments before will certainly be in play for George Miller‘s return to the post-apocalyptic world of Mad Max with “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” a prequel that tells the earlier story of Charlize Theron‘s character from “Mad Max: Fury Road.” This one stars Anya Taylor-Joy as the title character, joined by Chris Hemsworth as a new antagonist called Dementus, as well a mix of new characters and ones that appeared in “Fury Road.”

Chicago – One of the most reliable and relatable character actors in film is Greg Kinnear. The actor, Oscar nominated for “As Good As It Gets,” has been working steadily in film and TV ever since he made a splash on the scene with “Talk Soup.” From there he was cast in the remake of “Sabrina,” and his roles ascended from there. His latest film role is in “Sight.”

The ladies from Married at First Sight Season 16 are poking fun at their D-list status after gaining reality TV fame.
Gina Micheletti, Kirsten Grimes, and Nicole Thielk shared plans for a fun new project, and Mafs fans are excited.
The Nashville wives formed a close bond during their time on the show, although it wasn’t a happy ending for Gina and Kirsten.
Gina’s marriage to Clint Webb crashed and burned before it even got off the ground, as their lack of chemistry prevented the relationship from moving forward.
Kirsten’s marriage to Shaquille Dillon had potential, but it seems he was scared off by her high-maintenance lifestyle.
Thankfully, Nicole had more luck than her castmates, as her marriage to Chris Thielk is the only success story among the Nashville cast.
However, while the marriages failed, the friendships thrived, and now the Season 16 besties are ready for a new adventure together.

“Garfiosa”? “Furiofield”?
Whatever the portmanteau for this Memorial Day weekend’s dual release of “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” and “The Garfield Movie,” the two newcomers are aiming to jolt the sluggish summer season.
“Furiosa,” the fifth entry in director George Miller’s post-apocalyptic “Mad Max” series, looks to lead the way with $40 million to $45 million from 3,750 venues over the four-day holiday weekend. Sony’s animated “The Garfield Movie” should trail in second with $30 million to $35 million from 4,000 venues between Friday and Monday. Box office comparisons to the same holiday weekend in 2023 will be tough given that Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” remake took the crown with $118 million.
Warner Bros. spent $168 million on “Furiosa,” not including the many millions to market the movie. It’s not expected to live up to the debut of its predecessor, 2015’s “Mad Max: Fury Road,” which captured $45 million over three days. That film, led...

It’s hard to forget the emotional moment from Season 15 between Justin Hall and his dog, Mya.
However, we’re excited to announce that there’s a happy ending to the story.
Justin had Married at First Sight fans excited when he shared a recent post of Mya, who is finally back home after a lengthy period of behavioral training.
Things took an unfortunate turn when Justin married fellow dog owner Alexis Williams and they attempted an introduction between the two pets.
That resulted in Alexis’s dog, Newton, being attacked by Mya, who had shown aggression and other issues in the past – something Justin neglected to share.
Ultimately, Alexis clarified that she was uncomfortable around Mya and insisted that Justin remove her from the home.
Left with a choice of his dog or his marriage, the 34-year-old chose the latter and Mya was sent to a facility for training...

However, quite a bit of time has passed since they filmed the special so have things changed between Michael and Chloe?

Married At First Sight Season 17 In Denver Was The Worst In Franchise History
It took all of 17 seasons, but, Married at First Sight viewers and former cast members both agree that the Denver season was the worst yet in franchise history. It won’t be long before we move on from the Denver cast but we’ll have to tolerate them for at least one more week.
The latest revelation sure to cause a stir among viewers is a possible hookup between Lauren Good and Michael Shiakallis.
A preview was teased after Part 2 of the reunion aired, showing Michael hanging out with Lauren. Michael told her that viewers have been wanting something to happen between them.
That was the case months ago after Michael was jilted at the altar and Lauren’s marriage fell apart.
Monsters and Critics shared several comments from viewers who expressed that they should have been matched in the first place. However, a lot of things and opinions have changed since then.

Another season of Married at First Sight is on the horizon and we couldn’t be happier to move on from the disastrous Denver season.
They’re bringing the show back to Chicago with a new batch of hopefuls ready to trust the process and have the experts find their perfect match.
That certainly didn’t happen in Season 17, but we’re crossing our fingers that the Chicago cast will reignite our hope in the eight-week marital experiment.
This is not the first time that The Windy City has been the backdrop for the popular lifetime time show, Season 5 was also filmed in Chicago, Illinois.
It aired in 2017, and of the three couples featured that season, one has a successful marriage to show for it.
That’s the season that gave us Ashley Petta and her husband Anthony D’Amico. They have been married for over seven years and have two adorable kids.

Updated with minor clarifications from Martiros Vartanov. The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is shining a spotlight on one of the most revered filmmakers in cinema history.
On Friday evening the museum in Los Angeles will screen a restored version of visionary Armenian filmmaker and poet Sergei Parajanov’s 1969 classic The Color of Pomegranates, marking the 100th anniversary of his birth. In addition, the museum is premiering the newly restored Parajanov: The Last Spring, a documentary about Parajanov directed by Soviet-born filmmaker and cinematographer Mikhail Vartanov.
The Color of Pomegranates, a visually metamorphic and hybrid narrative, follows the life of the great 18th century Armenian poet and musician, Sayat Nova. Oscillating between stillness and movement – Pomegranates is a mesmerizing wide-canvas painting on film and has been hailed as one of the greatest movies of all time in various polls conducted by Movieline, Time Out, and the British Film Institute’s magazine,...

Yikes. Married at First Sight’s messy Denver season is drawing to a close, but the anger and animosity between the cast isn’t letting up.
The two-part season 17 reunion featured tears, cheating accusations, and stunning admissions. Cast members revealed that they’d colluded to try to shape the show’s narrative, including deleting diary cams and lying to the experts during counseling sessions. Clare accused her ex, Cameron, of masterminding the whole plan, which he denied. Emily suggested Cameron was faking his heart problem to get out of filming. Brennan finally admitted he wasn’t attracted to Emily because of her drunken, party-girl antics and irresponsible financial behavior. Emily clashed with reunion host Kevin Frazier and stormed off stage during one particularly heated moment. In other words, it was a mess.
Chaos and feuds can make for compelling reality TV. But they don’t play as well in a...

A lot of drama happened on Married at First Sight this season, the problem is that it all occurred behind the scenes.
We learned that Austin Reed got a little too close with his producer, and it was the last straw for his wife, Becca Haley.
To be clear, Austin and the producer were never accused of having anything more than a close friendship.
However, after Becca called out her husband on camera for hanging out with the producer during a night out, the mystery woman was allegedly fired.
The first half of the reunion has already played out with no mention of the producer, and something tells us we won’t get much information about that in Part 2 either.
However, have internet sleuths already found the identity of the producer at the center of the scandal?
Mafs fans are curious about the producer who was allegedly fired because of...

Married at First Sight fans have been calling out Season 17 in Denver as the worst season in franchise history. Married at First Sight: Fans Have Slammed Denver Season
From the beginning of Married at First Sight Season 17 in Denver, viewers have been slamming the cast. The more seasons of the show that Lifetime churns out, the farther away they get from the show’s initial premise, and what drew viewers to watch it in the first place.
The way most Married at First Sight fans feel, the show has lost its authenticity. It used to be that one season would come out per year. There were also fewer couples in each season, which gave viewers...
