Bravo Sean Kanan and Ensemble!!
msjujubelle17 January 2020
Behind the Glitz, The Glam,The Loyal Fans, and Steamy Story lines is the sad truth "WHEN YOU ARE HOT YOU ARE HOT" and the revolving door is ever present. The Best thing about Studio City is it isn't over lit and filled with swelling music and lingering close ups as we Fade to Black. It's dark and gritty. and we can't second guess the next twist. BRAVO SEAN KANAN AND ENSEMBLE!! Sean, you have never looked sexier, a lot of emotional meat in that face.... Stay True, Judith

"Studio City" is the Best show to watch!!!!
angietheo14 January 2020
Excellent and amazing new show!!! I give it a 10! Sean Kanan delivers a masterpiece performance as Sam Stevens who plays Dr. Pierce Hartley on a show who shows us the dramatical steps he has been through in life living the life of an actor on a soap opera. He shows us the conflicts he goes through with the soaps producer in keeping his contract with the show.He shows us a character that you want to embrace when he has an emotional sad scene with his mom played by Patrika Darbo. He has dramatic scenes with his girlfriend played by Melissa Riso and a touching scene with Tristan Rogers. It was also amazing to see newcomer, Juliet Vega play his daughter Delilah. The episodes add humor, drama, LGBTQ issues who Scott Turner did great work with and a surprising twist at the end that you won't want to miss. Michele Kanan did great work casting and producing. It's incredibly bingeable to watch and I recommend you all to watch it. You'll love it!

Great Show with Fantastic Acting
taylorbenson-7250231 May 2022
If you have been looking for a new TV show to watch, look no further than The Emmy Award winning series, Studio City on Amazon Prime. The series' season 2 recently dropped on Amazon Prime and we cannot have enough of it! The first season hit the screens in 2019 and after about a three year gap, we finally got the season 2 of this spectacular show. Although the Emmy Winning Show's new season only consists of six episodes but captivating, you'll find yourself binge watching every single episode.

Studio City is star-studded with exceptionally talented actors. The cast of the show includes Sean Kannan, Erin Michelle Soto, Tristan Rogers, Phillip V. Bruenn, Juliet Vega, and Will Roberts are among many other incredible performers.

While watching season 2, I was extremely impressed by Will Roberts and his performance as the character of Dennis. Dennis actually stood out in the crowd and even though Roberts' character appears only in the second season so far, he makes a great impact on the rest of the characters. His chemistry with rest of the cast is just unmatchable to any other. The tension is very noticeable in every scene that requires to have some tension in the room and that is exactly what we love to see! We have seen Roberts act before in many infamous and well-known shows such Netflix's The Killer. Honestly, we cannot wait to see more of Will Roberts in action hopefully in the upcoming seasons of the show or in a completely different character in a very different because let's be real; we know that the man can do it all! It is undoubtable that all the actors in season two have done an outstanding job but Dennis is the one that really stole the show this time around. Apart from that, we have always been a fan of Kanan's acting notably in the 3rd installment of the Karate Kid series and obviously in Studio City. However, it is unbelievable how much impact a single character can have on a show and we must say; it was the character of Dennis that really did it in this one.

This season 2 of Studio City has made its way into our top favorites this season. Everything about the show in the new season is top-notch; the actors, the script, the lighting and the dialogues, it just could not have been better. But most importantly, I admire the casting choices this season. It is always great to see actors like Will Roberts shine on the big screen. Also, It is an absolute binge-worthy show in every aspect and we highly recommend you watching it.

Just because...
qofspain14 January 2020
...I appear briefly in a few scenes doesn't, in the slightest, mean that I am prevented from giving my thoughts on the series as a whole. So there. Let me just say that the caliber of talent on this set was of the highest order. And that, combined with amazing writing, direction and all of the other goodies that accompanied this endeavor made the result extremely special. Projects come and go; most never see the light of day. "Studio City," from as unbiased a perspective as I can give, should be something that sticks around. It's a rare blend of pathos, wit and charm with the tone set by Sean Kanan. And it's a realistic and no-punches-pulled look at the world of soaps...and truly the industry as a whole...than this insider thought could be brought to light without the wink and nod that other "inside show biz" projects have used. Hey, I just act in it...it's the creators that deserve the kudos.

Got pulled in right away and binged until the end!
kaizendojofilms10 January 2021
I really enjoyed this first season. Got pulled in right away and binged until the end. This show is gritty but with a lot of ironic humor and, at times, almost satirical social commentary about the entertainment biz and the dysfunctional people it attracts. Most of the characters are messed up and do messed up things yet the writing and excellent cast performances give us insight into why they are messed up and I began to really like and sympathize with these people and got emotionally invested in their stories. Sean Kanan is excellent as the lead and this show really allows him to demonstrate his great range. I am really looking forward to Season 2!

A Refreshing Series We Desperately Need
mattmccrabs-6055126 August 2020
With an all-star cast, "Studio City" delivers some of the most well-needed, and refreshing, writing we oh so desperately needed. All elements of a perfect story are incorporated here, and they also touch on contemporary issues which need to see more daylight. Sean Kanan shines in this and is supported by an ensemble whom all stand out on their own. This is what we needed. And it's finally here. Stop driving, pull over, and watch this now. (And stop reading IMDB while driving).

Studio City - Season 2. A Must for Soap Fans and Non-Soap Viewers
shado-1211611 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The second season of Studio City continues to tell the stories of Sam Stevens (Sean Kanan AKA Dr. Pierce Hartley) and the cast of characters in front of and behind the camera at fictional soap Hearts on Fire.

Through it's fully fleshed out players, Studio City shines a light on ageism, #metoo, and a host of other topics as characters take a long, hard look at their lives.

Kanan's Stevens has an opportunity to break out of being the second hottest guy on the No. 2 rated daytime serial and become an action star on the big screen - IF he can get out of his own way!

We watch Sam examine both his professional and his personal life as he asks the bigger questions in life - what's it all about? What's making me happy?

Each and every member of the supporting cast is excellent. Standouts include Daytime Emmy-winner Carolyn Hennesy as Gloria Winton (a nod to legendary General Hospital producer Gloria Monty), the producer of Hearts on Fire, who gives a passionate endorsement of the daytime drama genre.

Philip V. Bruenn plays soap opera star Nick Cassidy (AKA Hearts on Fire's Dr. Devyn Stryker); Nick's an actor who is desperate to convince others that there's much more to those worked out abs he keeps working on. Natalie Burn plays Shelby Shock, Sam's action movie leading lady, a woman who examines if all the sacrifices she's made to get to where she is have been worth it. A light's been shined on #metoo but it's clear that high-powered decisionmakers in Hollywood still feel they can manipulate people around them in Studio City.

Tristan Rogers, best known for his run as Scorpio on General Hospital, won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actor in a Digital Drama Series for his role as Studio City's Doc, Sam's father. Doc continues to face his mortality and delivers another set of heart-breaking performances. Doc manages to shoot Sam some straight talk while dealing with his own issues.

Soap fans will love Studio City's backdrop and the inside jokes about the world of daytime drama. But the show isn't about being backstage at a soap - it's about who these characters are and what they're searching for in life. The series has beautiful cinematography, sharp dialogue, dry humor, and somber lighting. Highly recommended.
