With great lead performances by Steven Yeun and Samara Weaving, a great musical score by Steve Moore, and great bloody action masterminded by director Joe Lynch, Mayhem is almost too much fun. It's the perfect example of a movie that knows what it is and is more than happy to deliver that to an audience eager to devour it. Lynch burst onto the genre scene with Wrong Turn 2: Dead End, a direct-to-video sequel that was far better than it had any right to be. More recently, Everly featured Salma Hayek in a furiously entertaining action picture that, again, exceeded expectations. Mayhem spreads that same action spirit out over a larger cast trapped in an office building after an outbreak of the so-called 'red eye'...

I've got a crazy-ass trailer for a balls-to-the-walls action film called Mayhem that is just insanely brutal! The movie is described in one of the reviews as a being like The Office meets The Purge. This is a pretty hardcore trailer that doesn't seem to hold back on the violence. You've got blood splatting all over the place!
As far as the story goes, it centers around an office building full of people being exposed to a deadly virus that causes the infected people to lose their inhibitions and go crazy. The kind of crazy that makes them want to kill each other. It also follows a recently fired employee played by Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) and a wronged client who have to fight their way through the madness. It looks like an incredibly entertaining flick worth watching, especially if you're into bloody violent movies.

As Glenn Rhee on AMC’s The Walking Dead, Steven Yeun has survived countless encounters with the living dead, and now he’s set to face humans with a different type of infection in a new film from Joe Lynch.
According to THR, Steven Yeun will star as Derek Saunders in Mayhem, an upcoming action horror movie that will be helmed by Joe Lynch, co-star of Holliston and director of Everly and Wrong Turn 2: Dead End.
Written by Matias Caruso, Mayhem focuses on “a virus capable of making people act out their wildest impulses that infects a corporate law office on the very day attorney Derek Saunders (Yeun) is framed by a co-worker and wrongfully fired. Trapped in the quarantined building, our hero is forced to fight tooth and nail for not only his job, but also his life.”

"Either you help me, or shut the f*ck up," says Everly (Salma Hayek) to one of the men left partially alive in her swank bordello apartment after she just laid waste to the rest of the men that had taken turns raping her. You see, Everly has been a sex slave for the past four years along with several other women occupying the same floor in the same apartment building, working under the thumb of Taiko (Hiroyuki Watanabe), an ex lover and dangerous mob boss. However, when Taiko threatens her family, Everly doesn't hesitate to do what's necessary to keep her mother and daughter safe. Only problem is, she's trapped in this apartment building and they are running for their lives in the streets. What's a girl to doc Played as a hard-r actioner with attempted doses of humor, director Joe Lynch isn't entirely able to capture the same...

Don’t ever underestimate the lethalness of a well-armed woman.
In “Everyly,” Salma Hayek plays a woman who is defending herself in her apartment upon waves of assassins sent by her ex, a mob boss.
The movie is directed by Joe Lynch (“Knights of Badassdom,” “Wrong Turn 2: Dead End”).
In an exclusive phone interview, Latino-Review caught up with Hayek’s co-star, Jennifer Blanc-Biehn, to discuss about this shoot’em up action movie. She talked about Hayek, Lynch and the preparation involved in the film.
“Everyly” is currently available on iTunes and is in limited theater release at certain cities.
Latino-Review: You have a movie coming up called “Everly.” Could you tell my on why you were attracted to that film?
Jennifer Blanc-Biehn: First of all, Joe Lynch was directing it. He’s a fantastic director and an all-around good guy. So I was very interested on what he was doing.

Joe Lynch has directed a number of films over the past eight years, including Wrong Turn 2: Dead End, Knights of Badassdom, and the “Zom-b-Movie” segment of 2011’s Chillerama anthology, but I’ve never felt like we’ve seen a film that was truly 100% his voice. That all changes, though, with Everly, his gut-punch love letter to the modern action film, a raucous and wickedly fun time that manages to be way more heartfelt and emotionally-charged than its over-the-top brutality and balls-out gunplay might otherwise suggest. It’s been a while since we’ve seen a truly badass female hero get her cinematic due, but everything about Lynch’s latest gets it just right.
In Everly, we meet the titular prostitute (Salma Hayek) on Christmas Eve right after she’s been subjected to a brutal gang-rape orchestrated by a Yakuza mob boss who isn’t thrilled with her recent betrayal of him and his organization.

Halloween is almost upon us and there’s no better time of year to watch some of your favourite horror films, or better yet…discover something new to terrify you for the very first time.
These are ten films that I always find myself watching during the Halloween season.
1. The Universal Monsters
I’m cheating a bit here but try as I might I just couldn’t narrow it down to one. While none of these films are necessarily scary from a modern perspective, nothing gets me in the Halloween mood quite like a dose of good ol’ Universal Monsters.
Horror Trivia: Lon Chaney, Jr. played all four of the big monsters during Universal’s monster heyday. He played Frankenstein’s monster in The Ghost of Frankenstein, The Wolf Man in The Wolf Man, Dracula in Son of Dracula, and The Mummy in The Mummy’s Ghost.
Universal Classic Monsters:...

Austin - "Everly" puts me in an uncomfortable position. Sure, nowhere near as uncomfortable as the circumstances faced by Everly (Salma Hayek) over the course of the film, a one-room action movie, but as a film critic, I find myself really wrestling with my reaction. On the one hand, I like the energy of the film, and I think Hayek is about as appealing a lead as she's been in a while as the film opens in media hell, with her as a sex slave who finds herself at a turning point, freedom in her sights, but with a whole wall of mayhem between her and escape. The film makes a lot out of its single location, and I'm a fan of films where you watch one space get more and more destroyed over the course of an evening. Director Joe Lynch directs the film like a hungry man chasing a ham sandwich,...

Dost thou have the insatiable appetite for LARPing role-players, mystical creatures, and foul spells of horror that would make even the bravest of knights rust their armor? Ah, yes, it’s with great sorrow that Joe Lynch’s Knights of Badassdom Director’s Cut was snatched from our possession by feudal kings drunk on power, but the cut we’re left with still sweetly smells of Lynch’s love for invigorated genre work. Whist commoners pretend to know the valor and bravery of knighthood, Lynch gives untested souls the chance to fight real monsters and cast true spells of wizardry – what one can only presume is a LARPer’s dream. Brandish some cold hard steel and vanquish your enemy for good, what sounds better than such a quest?! Oh, right, not having your face torn off by a succubus – but that’s what makes this geeky horror comedy so damn endearing.

Just before Christmas last year, a new teaser debuted promising the release of the fantasy comedy Knights of Badassdom. The long delay of the film will likely only be a benefit since Peter Dinklage has a much high profile now thanks to "Game of Thrones." But what's not helping is this disaster of a poster trying to hype people up for the film hitting limited theaters on January 21st and VOD next month. It's symmetrical, which is fine, but the rest of the shoddy Photoshop job with characters cropped and pasted onto fire is lazy, fitting right in with that video about the deteriorating quality of movie posters we just tossed up. Look now! Here's the first poster for Joe Lynch's Knights of Badassdom from IGN: Knights of Badassdom directed by up-and-coming American indie filmmaker Joe Lynch (@TheJoeLynch on Twitter), who previously has only directed Wrong Turn 2: Dead End.

The big names in horror are often recognized by both the genre community and mainstream entertainment culture, showered with accolades by horror fans and film critics alike. Directors like John Carpenter, Tobe Hooper, and Wes Craven have secured their place in film history, but many more talented directors go largely unsung for their hard work and noteworthy contributions to the genre. To remedy that, we recently kicked off a recurring segment that gives much-needed credit to those groundbreaking horror filmmakers who aren’t always given the praise they deserve. [You can check out part one here and part two here.] Since the first two installments proved popular, we're back with another round, and this time we present not five, but six more of our favorite underrated genre film directors. We've been following Joe Lynch's action fantasy comedy Knights of Badassdom for a couple years now, and audiences have been awaiting the film's release since it was teased at Comic-Con in 2011. I disliked Wrong Turn, really enjoyed Wrong Turn 2: Dead End, skipped Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead, gave Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings a look and was mildly amused and now comes Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines, which seems to have either abandoned the original Wrong Turn group of hillbilly, inbred, cannibal mountain men or is featuring their relatives. I'm not exactly sure, but here's the plot. The cutting-edge terror continues when a small mining town hosts the legendary Mountain Man Festival on Halloween, where crowds of costumed partygoers gather for a wild night of music and mischief. But a killer celebration soon gives way to a blood-soaked feeding frenzy when an inbred family of hillbilly cannibals trick and treat themselves to a group of visiting college students who are just dying for a good time... Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings
Stars: Sean Skene, Blane Cypurda, Dan Skene, Jenny Pudavick, Tenika Davis, Kaitlyn Wong, Terra Vnesa, Victor Zinck Jr. | Written and Directed by Declan O’Brien
It’s 1974 and deep in the West Virginia wilderness, a family of inbred hillbilly cannibals are being held in an isolated asylum for the violent and mentally ill. The asylum soon becomes deserted when the inbred family escape and take sadistic and gratuitous revenge on their captors…. Decades later, a group of college students take a wrong turn and seek refuge in the now-abandoned asylum after a blizzard derails their plans for a weekend winter break. But when the students encounter the medical ward’s most frightening former patients, now fiendishly famished residents, their only choice is to fight back…or die trying.
I loved 2003′s Wrong Turn, helped in part by the appearance of Buffy co-star Eliza Dushku in the lead role.

Here's a little history lesson for you. This quote that legendary actor Steve Martin tweeted is actually, "Able was I ere I saw Elba." It's a palindrome, which means if you were to read the sentence from right to left instead of left to right, it would say the same thing. The palindrome was created as something Napoleon Bonaparte might've said when he was exiled to the Island of Elsa.
Able was I ere I saw Bubba.
— Steve Martin (@SteveMartinToGo) April 13, 2012
So, maybe Martin was exiled to an island off of L.A. called Bubba? Or perhaps it was an auto correct? Those things happen, you know. Your guess is as good as ours.
The rest of today's tweets bring you an array of topics from the stars about parenting, food, and Nickleback. Oh, and if you haven't already heard, it's Friday the 13th. Maybe Martin's Bubba is a ghost that's haunting him?...

Adam Green and Joe Lynch are probably my two favorite directors in the horror genre. Not only can they deliver (individually) some great horror films (Frozen, Spiral), but they are also well equipped to create some golden horror-comedy (Hatchet 2, Wrong Turn 2). Every time they are in the middle of working on something, I pay close attention. Though they may disappoint me someday, I will always wait with glistening eyes and a child-like smile for their next project(s).
So here we are with Holliston, which debuted last week on FEARnet and was met with a large amount of praise. Unfortunately, for most, the show is unavailable on many cable networks and you may have to end up buying episodes as they come out (or be a Loser and pirate it). I live on Long Island and I also do not have cable (I despise it), so I was out...

Created by Adam Green, Holliston is FEARnet’s first original TV show and will premiere later tonight. The scripted comedy/horror series follows Adam Green and Joe Lynch on their quest to become successful horror filmmakers.
Horror fans will easily spot a number of special guests in the first season, including Bill Mosely, Derek Mears, and John Landis. To get you ready for tonight’s first episode, we have the synopsis and multiple video clips:
Holliston is a riotous and offbeat multi-camera, buddy comedy starring Adam Green (director, “Hatchet,” “Frozen”), and Joe Lynch (director, “Knights of Badassdom,” “Wrong Turn 2”). Set in the town of Holliston (near Boston), the series shines a light on the post-college life where everything is a struggle, and nothing works out like it’s supposed to, with terrifyingly funny results as Adam and Joe struggle to become big-time horror filmmakers, and Adam embarrasses himself as...

When I first heard about Holliston I wasnt really sure what to expect. I didnt know if it was going to be an ongoing meta commentary about the careers of Joe Lynch (director of Wrong Turn 2 and Knights Of Badassdom) and Adam Green (Hatchet, Frozen) or if it was going to be some weird Family Guy-esque string of horror non-sequiturs. Turns out its neither. As you may know by now, its 100% a sitcom. Not a documentary style half-hour comedy like Parks And Rec or a single-cam show like Community, but an old-school three-camera proscenium sitcom taped in front of an audience. While its a show made by, and in part for, horror fans - its worth noting that Holliston is concerned with more than just in-jokes and gory references (although there are plenty). The characters of Laura (Laura Ortiz) and Corri (Corri English) are featured almost as prominently as Lynch and Green,...

FEARnet — the burgeoning horror empire that consists of a website, cable channel and VOD service — has taken the next logical step and decided to move into the content provider business, and its first shot at original programming is Holliston, a situation comedy from the mind of horror maven Adam Green, premiering April 3.
Written and directed by Green, Holliston (FEARnet, Tuesdays, 10:30 p.m./9:30c) is something of a meta mixed bag, combining elements of horror, parody and satire, all presented in a fairly traditional multi-camera sitcom format. The series co-stars Joe Lynch (director of Wrong Turn 2 and the upcoming Knights of Badassdom) and focuses on the adventures of Adam (Green) and Joe (Lynch), two broke, aspiring horror filmmakers who have been best friends since childhood. Matthew Currie Holmes is probably best known to horror fans all over as "M" from Joe Lynch's Wrong Turn 2 and several other notable genre roles, but now he's embarking on a new career path that's taking him behind the camera - as a director.
Recently Holmes launched a new Kickstarter campaign for his upcoming first-ever feature film called P5YCH, which follows a group of survivors whose attacks served as the inspiration behind five of the biggest horror movies of all time.
Since we here at Dread Central are suckers for anything willing to throw the genre on its head, we recently caught up with the up-and-coming indie filmmaker to hear more about how he got started in the industry, making the transition to director and the plans for the feature film of P5YCH.

When FEARnet's upcoming original series, Holliston, debuts on Tuesday, April 3rd, it's going to break the mold of the usual sitcom format.
"While we only did six episodes, each episode is 'monster size,'" creator Adam Green tells Shock Till You Drop. "Each episode is really the equivalent of two. A traditional sitcom might be between 21 and 24 minutes without commercials and our episodes between 35 and 45 minutes. It's like an extended episode each week. And what was cool about that is we were able to fit in more guest stars, more gore moments and more of everything."
The director of Frozen and Hatchet co-stars in the series with Joe Lynch (Knights of Badassdom, Wrong Turn 2). The two play Holliston, Massachusetts locals who run their own public access horror program and aspire to be filmmakers. Corri English and Laura Ortiz play their girlfriends. Dee Snider, Oderus from Gwar, Tony Todd and...

Beloved Fantastic Fest directors Adam Green (Hatchet, Frozen) and Joe Lynch (Knights of Badassdom, Wrong Turn 2) appeared on a SXSW Film panel on Sunday, presenting their new TV show Holliston for FEARnet. This graphic, chaotic sitcom will be making its premiere on April 3.
The show is produced like many other sitcoms on broadcast television, including a laugh track, three-camera set-up and even shot on a soundstage (the same soundstage used for Seinfeld's first few episodes). Although shot like a sitcom, it does not feel like your traditional sitcom whatsoever. During a sizzle reel, we were hit smack in the face with some very obscene (yet still funny) humor. The length of the show does vary though, with some episodes going over 35 minutes. But given their first season is fairly short (six episodes), more is better.
If you've ever seen any of Lynch's or Green's movie work, you can expect...

Matthew Currie Holmes is best known to genre fans as “M” from Wrong Turn 2, “Sean Castle” from 2005′s The Fog, or maybe as “Eddie” from the television show Edgemont, but the actor has transitioned into the director’s chair for Psych (aka P5YCH). The film, starring Amanda (Red White & Blue) Fuller, tells the interesting story of victims having the chance to return to the scene of the crime and fight back against their assailants.

Marking the second major deal of the European Film Market, Alliance Films has snapped up U.K. and Canadian rights to Kate Hudson starrer Everly, which was just announced last week. Deal is estimated to be north of $1 million and saw a number of other foreign buyers at the table, notably eOne, which was also in the final running for the female-driven actioner. Nick Meyer's Sierra/Affinity has been shopping the $10 million actioner, helmed by Joe Lynch, to buyers here at the fest, which sees Hudson star as a down-on-her-luck woman, stuck in her apartment, fending off waves of assassins sent by her ex, a dangerous mob boss. Story is based on a concept created by Lynch (Wrong Turn 2, Chillerama, Knights of Badassdom). Yale Hannon penned the script, which was featured on the Hollywood Black List.
