Pretty weak episode
There are quite a lot of prominent names involved in this little Tales f/t Crypt episode, yet that doesn't automatically means it's one of the better installments in the series. Apart from the obvious starring of Joe Pesci ("Raging Bull", "Casino"), this episode was directed by the famous producer Joel Silver, penned down by Fred Dekker ("Night of the Creeps", "Robocop 3") and shot by Jan De Bont ("Speed", "The Haunting"). Good names! Great names even, and yet this is a totally uninspired and déjà-vu story. Understandable, because the HBO-series went downhill fast near the end of the fourth season, as all the morbid story lines and original plot-twists were used already. Pesci stars as a typical small time Hollywood crook who plans to get rich very fast by seducing the twin-daughters of a legendary architect. In order to get his hands on the entire fortune, he has to marry both girls so he pretends to have a twin brother himself with the lame excuse of traveling back and forth between South Africa. The girls are pretty deranged themselves, so when they found out Jack has been fooling them all this time, they plot a bloody vengeance. Joe Pesci is great as usual in his familiar role of sneaky bastard and the fairly unknown Citron-twins (Jacqueline and Kristen) are good too. The one and only gore-sequence of the whole episode (with a chainsaw!) is satisfying.
